Yesterday we celebrated the 79th anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising (4:55). Every year at 5:00 p.m. (the hour of the outbreak of the uprising, called "Hour W") sirens wail across the country and everyone stops for a minute. Cars, people walking down the street, buses, trams. This is a very important date for us. We are the only nation in the world that does that. Please react to "There is a city". This film shows what it's all about, which is very moving for us. The Warsaw Uprising was the largest military operation of the resistance movement in Europe during World War II.

It was act of sheer stupidity. What did they achieve? Over 100000 killed civilians, Warsaw burned to the ground. Shame on the instigators!

A little known fact about Polish history. When Germany and the Soviets attacked in 1939, Poland was about 20 years old (we regained independence after 123 years of occupation by Austria, Prussia, and Russia). 20 years to rebuild a country, military, and infrastructure is nothing (just think about how long a simple road repair can take) And when it comes to the Holocaust, I don't think it should be a surprise they don't teach about that in schools given how the leaders of the "Free World" reacted to it...

Contrary to popular opinion, the history of World War II, according to us Poles, looks a little different in many aspects.Until 1990 we lived behind the Iron Curtain and many important information was deleted and destroyed by the USSR.

Actually not to 1990. Its actually still, but now it have pretty names like „Europe Union” or „Germany”. It looks more funny, when you realize Hitler’s plans are perfectly weird same as European Union, artist also love animals, ecology and hate people with other opinion - completly like today, but now its called „Defending democracy” (ironic)

Rotmistrz Witold Pilecki was the hero who was a volunteer to go to the Aushwitz concentration camp- to look what happened there to people and built resistance groups within the camp. Sabaton has honoured him in the song Inmate 4859. Tragically Pilecki has been killed by communists after II WW in unfair process, being tortured in arrest to make him admit to fake accusations. He did not agree to save his life when soviets proposed him betraying Polish goverment that resided in the West and has been executed 25.05.1948. Hexwas rehabilitated in 1990 when Poland has regained democracy.

I am the last generation that heard war stories from people who survived World War II. I am forty-five years old and I listened to my grandparents' stories with tears in my eyes. I remember communism, martial law in 1980, etc. I pass these stories on to young people in memory of the murdered heroes.😢

Unpopular opinion: The Warsaw Uprising served (and still serves) Polish propaganda well in showing that we were still at war, fighting; but from a logical and military standpoint, it was a waste of resources (lifes). What would occur if The Warsaw Uprising didn't occur? Since Germany and Russia had already signed pacts (and Yalta Conference wouldn't have Poles anyway), it was unlikely that Germany would triumph or that the Soviet Union would march into France or other western country and annex it. It was a waste of human life. Yes, it demonstrates Polish resistance, but it was also a poor choice to do it.

If the Russians had supported the uprising, the Germans would have lost, but because the AK was against the communists, they waited until the uprising collapsed and "liberated" Poland

I think that after watching this film, everyone understands why we hate Russia so much, and it's mutual. I would like our nations to finally reconcile, although I realize that it is impossible. Russia will never abandon this imperialist path and we will never forgive them for what their ancestors did to us. In addition, we occupied Moscow for 2 years and played a large role in the collapse of the USSR, so the Russians hate us even more. In addition, I suspect that in the near future we will cross swords again. Only North and South Korea share more hatred for each other. A hopeless situation like the war in Ukraine.

Hmm that clips is little or rather to much overpumped. True problem was that poland didnt exist for 123 years parted on 3 states german, austria nad russian. Aftere 1 world war it was reborn thank to US and have only 20 yers to create country , army , economy well whole country. When russians attack it was over again. 😆And aftere war cccp for anothere almost 50 yeras. Destruction of capital Warsaw was 80% of it. Rly bad shit 😆 and that was for 1000 years 😅 of history of poland.😁
