This is not a short story. This is the main story of World War II. For some reason it is omitted. But you can guess because the Allies betrayed Poland and sold it to Stalin. Polish pilots saved England in the air battle of Britain, and then they were thrown to the bottom and worked as warehousemen or plumbers (even outstanding generals), and in the end no one invited Poles to the victory parade, and those who started World War II were invited ( Germany and Russia). And people avoid talking loudly about this betrayal.

I'll tell you guys, I'm Polish and I honestly cried when I watched it and I'm crying as I write this, but Poland never gives up and won't give up on anything, no one helped us and we won against two superpowers, I'm proud of who I am and I love your films

The underground government was not ONLY established during World War II. There were also courts which mainly passed death sentences on traitors to the homeland, which were carried out by the executioners, and the death penalty was carried out after reading the court's verdict, which also included the justification. There was also clandestine teaching at all levels of education, mainly in private homes. The Germans banned education for Poles, limiting it to writing and reading and basic mathematics, because Poles were supposed to be educated enough to obey German orders. Thanks to such efforts, people after the war only passed final exams and obtained diplomas. And when it comes to Jews, only in Poland, for ANY help, even giving a glass of water, the ENTIRE FAMILY could be shot. This punishment was valid ONLY in occupied Poland. In other countries it was a fine. And yet it was Poles who saved most of the Jews.

"The Unconquered" is one of the most touching things I ever watched. As someone mentioned here, some of us are the last generation to have grand parents who remember or remembered WWII. I recollect my granfather sometimes would open up and tell stories about his childhood during WWII (like German soldiers forcing him and his friends to get inside their car, then when the car reached a bridge they ordered them to walk back and forth on the bridge, after a while the Germans with their officer would cross the bridge and drive away. They used two kids to make sure that there were no mines on the bridge). Because you heard such stories and met in person the people who actually survived WWII, you look differently at your own life and the modern world. Newer generations don't truly appreciate what they have and don't know true suffering. Our grandparents were different, but they were much stronger mentally and physically. But the thing about the Second World War, though it has some of the most epic events in Polish history, like the battle of Wizna where a small detachment of 1000 soldiers defended for 3 days against 40000 of German soldiers just to postpone the Germans advancing further (you should react to Sabaton performing 40:1 during the Woodstock festival, it's on YT), is that it's a very dramatic and dark period of our history. You may want to react e.g., to some videos on winged hussars, it's also a significant part of our history but way more glorious -> in my opinion, winged hussars were one of the strongest formations in human history ever. If you want to learn about the real "unconquered", winged hussars are badass :) (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hr6bmqmYzZmRf6s.html&ab_channel=SlavParadise )

During the German-Soviet Invasion of Poland of 1939, the rkm wz. 1928 was the standard LMG used by almost all Polish infantry and cavalry units. The German armed forces captured a number of Polish-made Browning guns and used them until the end of World War II under the designation of lMG 28 (p)

Fun fact: we had a bear called Wojtek that helped move the artilery shells. He lived trough war earning medals for his serwice and spend rest of his life in a zoo. Edit: i forgot to add there is a whole movie called "dywizjon 303" and its about Polish fighter pilots that fought for England during the war. It is sait that they were the best division.

I am from the generation that was born after the war. I knew the real story from my family, because they survived the war. We were forced to learn Russian at school, they were told that the Russians were liberators, we were not allowed to say that they attacked us on September 17, 1939, they only said that the Germans attacked us on September 1, 1939. Many facts from history were concealed and we were not allowed to tell the truth, even though the older generation knew it. My children were also taught various lies, but they knew from us, the parents, and knew the truth. People who opposed the lie, at best, lost their jobs, could not get higher positions, and their children lost the chance for education at universities. And it often happened that they were sent to prison and never came back. As the authorities said: they are a subversive element. These were bad times for Poles, fortunately, we are stubborn, hard-working and hardened to live in difficult times. Greetings to you and I'm glad that you are interested in such topics. History is important because from it we draw conclusions for the future. I hope that the translator translated my words correctly.

One thing that needs to be pointed out about Katyń - this wasn't just about "the officers". What this video doesn't mention, is that those "20,000 officers" were the intellectual elites of the time. Many of them were The Great War veterans - painters, poets, priests, academy professors, doctors, etc. Katyń wasn't aimed at eliminating the military command - it was, first and foremost, aimed at eliminating the intellectuals, so that there's nobody to spearhead the opposition against The Red Plague, and so that there's nobody for the nation to group around. It was the Soviet version of the German Intelligenzaktion. EDIT: Also, if you are interested in life in the occupied Poland, _Days of Honour,_ (pl: _Czas Honoru_ ) is a very good series IMO, if you can catch a version with English subtitles, it pretty nicely shows the operations of the Polish underground during that time, as well as the brutality of the German and later Soviet officers.

People underestimate Poland and say there is poverty... but they do not see that after 123 years of slavery (during World War I, Poland was not on the map) we regained independence in 1918, only to lose it again in 1939... .. after the 2 world wars, Poland was completely destroyed... these 20 years between 1918-1939 were not enough to fully rebuild... After the war, with millions of dead, we were again enslaved for 30 years... Other European countries were developing and we were crushed by russia... We regained full independence for which we fought in 1989... 34 years have passed since Poland was a free country. There is simply still a lot to do here

Nice that you watched this video. Poland, attacked from two sides by military powers, had no chance to defend itself. Both countries wanted to eliminate Poles as a nation. Two countries began the terror of World War II - Nazi Germany and its ally the USSR. This must be remembered.

I suggest watching Immate 4859 Sabaton history 042 (official) It is about a Polish hero Witold Pilecki who volunteered to get a German death camp in German-occupied Poland and collected evidence of genocide against many nations, especially Polish and Jewish ones. After the war Poland fell into the hands of Polish communist installed by the Soviets in Poland after the war. Real Polish heroes were killed by communists. Unless he joined the communists. Many Polish heroes did not return to ,,liberated'' Poland because they feared for their lives. They remained in the West. For example, Polish pilots from the Squadron who fought very effectively in the Battle of London.
