I think it's fair to say that in the last 10 or so years, out of all the pool of players in that time, he was arguably the third best player. Others will point to Lewandowski, Neymar, Kroos and Modric, which is understandable, but Suarez had so many special qualities and the numbers to back it all up. Having the greatest playmaker setting you up almost every game certainly helps but his world class ability is evident for all to see.

There is an excellent video (unfortunately in Spanish) where the guy makes the point that comparing Cristiano to Messi was just marketing, since no one alive can be compared to Messi, and instead they made a very good comparison of Suarez vs Cristiano, which was a lot more interesting.
