"Belgrano sisters." you won't get that reference unless you're familiar with the Falklands War between UK and Argentina. The Belgrano was an Argentine battleship that the UK sank. A lot of Argentine sailors drowned which is why they say "They're called the Belgrano Sisters on account of the many sailors who went down on them."

I've always much preferred this to Phoenix Nights. Much sillier and funnier, shows that Peter Kay has some range in his writing too.

Makes no sense, Phoenix nights came out 4 years before max and paddy and Max’s voice is max and paddy is raspier and harder to do. It’s just normal in phoenix nights

You can tell the difference between Max and Paddy and Phoenix Nights. Not having Dave Spikey and Neil Fitzmaurice helping with the scripts definitely made a difference. Max and Paddy is less subtle with the humour and a bit more low brow but I still love it

The guy in the back of the truck at the beginning is Brendan O’Carroll, who also plays Mrs. Brown in “Mrs. Brown’s Boys”.

@@ID-pw8zb yeah MBB was horrendous. I’m Irish myself, so I recognised O’Carroll straightaway. I used to love his stand up back in the 90s. He was actually brilliant. But his acting roles have never been up to a good standard.

I really enjoyed watching Phoenix Nights with you. It's fun watching your reactions to what the UK consider to be classic phrases/jokes and seeing colloquialisms fly over your head. You don't talk too much and you're genuine. Keep it up buddy ✌🏽

Thanks for doing these videos, I'm really enjoying watching them. BTW the dance teaching montage is a parody of the montage from Dirty Dancing. Whenever I hear "time of my life" I think of Paddy teaching Max to dance and I smile.

Peter Kay's mum was one of the ladies clapping sarcastically at the dancing bears in the Centro commercial. I'm sure somebody has beat me to it by pointing that out but never mind...

I think they became good friends with Tony christie after promoting his song in Phoenix Nights with Amirllo, even though Niel Sedaka wrote amirillo for Tony' manager back in the 190's, nowi know this as I a massive follwer of Neil Sedaka. i al;so do love to listen to Tont, he had a song that a theme tune for a tv show The avenue and alleyways from The Protectors, nice song and you should listen to it mate.

A fair bit if these might go over your head but cultural and regional references aside this is an easier show to follow and enjoy for an American than phoenix nights I would imagine . Phoenix nights is not only very English but very working class culturally relevant to the 70s 80s 90s ,sadly that England is rare nowadays , but I'm really glad you're enjoying it , also thanks for uploading, bout the best place on KZfaq to watch this . The guy that plays Gypsy Joe is the man that plays Mrs Brown from Mrs Brown's Boys if you ever react to that. Also at 3:37 the 2 women are Peter Kays Grandmother and Mother.

I think this shows perfectly good and they could have gone another series as it was a slow starter. I think it gets better as it goes on. Remember only fools was almost cancelled after the first series

Personally I think M&P's just okay, but it left very little impression on me. Phoenix Nights was way better, I think because it has more continuity which made it feel like everything that happens will continue being relevant afterwards. There's very little of that in Max & Paddy.

And welcome to the club of shaved hair. 😎 (Although for me, its due to baldness, even though I'm only 23, and lost it by about 18-19) 😭 Pretty sure we have the same birthday too, 1/06/1998) Hope you enjoy it! I can only imagine the initial comments are divisive because you tend to normally react to, compared to others, more obscure UK shows. Perhaps puritans didn't want to see it? Or maybe they just think its more tongue-in-cheek / low brow than his other work? But if they think this is low brow theyve never seen mrs browns boys 🤢

My cousin is in the Navy based in Portsmouth and they are always targeted by thieves there.He’s had about 5 phones robbed. He’s been turned over more times than a child’s pee stained mattress. Gives you confidence doesn’t it

Also to explain the belgrano sisters name, the Belgrano was the name of an Argentine navy ship (controversially) sunk by British forces during the falklands war.

While Max and Paddy is fine, I think people may see it as the weaker of the two shows due to the cast. Phoenix Nights built up a great cast of characters at the club, whereas this show lives or dies on the strength of Max & Paddy themselves, and since they're effectively the comic relief characters from another show, it's sometimes a bit of a struggle to have them carry the whole thing on their shoulders. (Particularly considering Paddy McGuinness isn't the greatest actor IMO, but that's another story...) But it's fine. In terms of character spin off shows, it's no Frasier, but at least it's no Joey either.

8:49 actually paddy got that wrong because they didn't buy the plsma screen , they stole it by using it as a stretcher lol. As fo the belgrano sisters i would definitely take the one in red over the other one , the blonde that was with max.

Out of every thing Peter Kay has done, this is the one that I've never been able to to get into. I'm not even sure why. I've seen a couple of episodes but nothing about them made me feel that I'd be missing out if I didn't watch them all. I'll give them another go now that you're going to watch them all. I personally think that Car Share is the best thing he's done.

I've watched this show many times, I think it's great .. in my honest opinion the first episode is actually the weaker, they all get better from here. Episode 4 in particular is so clever

Notice at 24.07 the front bumper and headlight on the motorhome tied and taped back together,, but perfectly intact in the next scene and nearly every scene beforehand,,, its not until episode 5 when the damage is done to the front end of the van, all the scenes for each episode mustve been filmed in a completely random order? 🤷‍♂️

In the deleted scenes episode 1 they have more run ons with that family at the camp and the sisters drug the drinks hence paddy's craziness. Paddy catches max reading golf magazines on the loo and they eat a cheap dinner.

2:35 When Max says "have you got any big tellys?" That made me laugh because if you watch the outtakes, he originally says "have you got any big televisions?" But he keeps screwing it up so they've obviously just went "I'll just say telly instead". I just found it really funny because it seems like a such an easy enough line to deliver but clearly not.
