the craziest thing about newjeans was that they debuted with no advertising, no teaser, no warning, nothing to even tell us "hey guys. there's this new company under HYBE labels who's gonna release this brand new group" NOTHINGGG. This just said "yeah i think today's the day" AND JUST DROPPED. I was literally at a baseball game when they debuted and my friend called me from a DIFFERENT COUNTRY to tell me "BITCH WTF DID HYBE JUST DROP A GIRL GROUP OUT OF THIN AIR?" i checked and LOW AND BEHOLD a girl group (that literally had no other information on the internet about them except the fact that they just debuted) just released their first song 45 minutes ago. i watched the MV right there during the game and was humming it the whole day (marlins were losing anyways) it's catchy as hell has a refreshing 90s sound and everyone was loving it but it wasn't even released on other music apps yet so we were just stuck WAITINGGGG. then they blew up like crazyyy.

in Kpop, the production, the mvs, dance practices and everything is always top tier, their agencies make sure that everything will be 100% clean. These girls debuted 2 years ago and shook the world with their music. They brought back y2k music and the girls are insanely talented. They can dance, rap, sing, perform, are models, songwriters and many more. The youngest, Hyein, is 16 yo, then we have Haerin who turned 18 this year, Danielle and Hanni are both 19 if i remember(Hanni is older) and then Minji is 20. She's the oldest. They don't have positions(usually, in kpop when you see a group, they have main vocalists, main dancers, leaders and visuals but lately when groups debut they don't use those). You made such a good choice to choose newjeans, they are so popular and so talented. Their song ditto won soty(song of the year) twice(?) and the girls got many main awards on award shows such as Artist of the year, Top 10, Best girl group and etc. they are super loved and super cute girls. Nah bro newjeans are very different in kpop.... they use styles no one else uses.. not so much with their 1st ep which was 90s rnb but from the get up EP onwards its all been UK and US clubsounds that ar extremely obscure in kpop... centering around 'uk garage' with elements of 'drum and bass', 'jersey club' and 'miami bass'... sounds like their upcoming song 'right now' is pure 'drum and bass' and apparently after that 'supernatural' is 'new jack swing'. And yeah this is the only newjeans tune i dont listen to for reasons that are obvious... i really wouldnt care if hyein wasnt 14 at the time.. but to be fair i much prefer the 'clubland' sounds to their rnb one anyway... their first ep doesnt even make my playlist anyway so i dont miss this song at all :P

Burn cd (recording album) in korean is called "baking CD". So they play the word "baking CD = baking cookie". So you will see cookie rolling in beginning and CD in the end. Allegedly, this is like sarcasm for, well, the producer have kind a beef with the boss, long story, so this song like to say "you bet you want my album cause it is good". If you're looking for RNB inspired kpop, Red Velvet!! Though they also do a lot of other genres, their Velvet-y tracks are really good. Kingdom Come, Bad Boy, Automatic, Be Natural, etc. You'll absolutely love them.

So as others have commented, Cookie is a metaphor for CD in Korean culture, as you see the CD roll by with their tracklist on it, at the end of the video. After this song comes , Hurt. I highly recommend watching Ditto's Official MV it has 2 parts 1&2 watch both and then the 1st and 2nd EP are all wrapped up in the final track, OMG ( again watch the Official MV around 7 mins) After that comes their 3rd EP, Get Up.
