My American friend asked me what B&Q was and I said it was like a British version of Home Depot…she asks me to translate a lot of vocabulary differences between British English and American English…sometimes it gets embarrassing😊.

Hate to tell you this mate but every single person who drives in the UK knows their number plate. You always have to know it if you're parking or when you have to re tax or insure your vehicle every year so it's kind of one of those things that you just have to know

They think they somehow have the right to dictate what people can or can't do with their time and threaten force or violence to make others conform to what they think they should be doing. I saw several people in plague doctor masks during covid, it was just a bit of lighthearted fun during a dark time. If his son was petrified by it then perhaps his son is just a bit of a wuss?.....

In the UK, at a traffic stop, one of the first questions a cop might ask is "Do you know your registration?" (Licence number) Failing to know it suggests the car might be stolen. Yes, most drivers will know their registration.

Everyone in the UK knows their number plate, unlike the US, once it's registered to a car here, it stays with the car for the life of the car or until you buy a personalised plate. It's also how you know the age of the car, eg. mine is a 13 plate, so it was first registered between March and September 2013. In the video LW 17 MBX, just from a glace you know it was registered between March and September 2017, the other car seen, EK 60 VUU was first registered between September 2010 and March 2011. My mate once got a speeding ticket in the post from Birmingham with a photo showing his registration, however we were in Reading at the Reading festival at the time, after providing proof, the ticket was cancelled and a clone alert put out.

The first two letters also denote where it was registered, seeing as you mention Reading and I'm from there lol, any number plate beginning with R is registered in that area (I think R covers the whole of Berkshire)

@@nickyjones88 When we first switched to the LLNNLLL format cars registered in my area started with FE, then I think they changed it and I honestly couldn't tell you what the letters are for my area now. There doesn't seem to be any consistency, I can't recall seeing any plates locally that start with the same letter(s) since about 15 years ago. I did see one car that started FE 71, on the day 71 plates came out but nothing else that I can recall.

@jollybodger I can't speak for what your area is but the first two letters are definitely geographic. I got this from a car dealership website - 'The first two letters of your car's number plate refer to where it was registered. The first letter is for the region, and the second is for the local DVLA office. The two numbers following this are an age identifier, changed every 6 months at the beginning of March and September.' FE is one of the Lincoln plates by the looks of it.

That mask he was wearing was a copy of the Plague masks the Doctors used to wear in Medieval times. They would fill the beak up with herbs and such and hoped it would stop them from catching Plague.

I just remember where i parked, know what my car looks like and press the key fob when i get close, ive never remembered more than the first letter of my reg numbers, and never lost my car. But to be fair its not like we have huge car parks in england, largest one around here is ASDA.

You keep your plates here too. When you buy a new car and sell the old one you put the plate onto the new car. So you get to know the plate # quite well!

Yes I know my registration and my families ones too. And the plague doctors mask was that long as the stench of death was so horrendous they used rose petals or other flower petals to reduce the stench.

The beat box I believe was achieved by an audacity mic device. They were originally used to enhance the weak vocals of people who can't produce enough volume to talk. Because the vocals are only doing the muscle work the volume is enhanced by the mic and sounds robotic so this guy who has average vocals is using the device to enhance his beat boxing.

The bread on the turntable is an Indian Nan Bread, so the music fits, it's funny. We all have to memorise our car reg'. If the police stop you they ask for the reg', can't answer? Probably stolen. The cops now have an NPR system fitted to most squad cars so don't ask it as much, but we still memorise our plates for old time's sake.

Yep I know my registration number. We have to enter it into car park machines etc. not just for that reason lol. It’s different in the UK…. The registration is for the car. The chassis number will match it. I believe in the USA it’s for each person and you swap it between cars?

'who has their licence plate memorised?', you are expected to know it, should an officer ask at a stop, they won't often, but may if they suspect you aren't the owner, etc... (various reasons). But I remember every car we had and several other peoples cars.
