This was on the outskirts of some protests though, so that makes it a place of public interest and filming is allowed, especially because this guy comes up to the camera, thus by his own actions putting the spotlight onto himself.

I like how detailed you analyse the video the two boys. It's really impressive how well it is done. I just found a VICE article about it and the guys behind it. Short summary: It's a composition of three different takes: The boys pulling the table cloth (without anything on it, since it didn't work during the first tries) and falling/running away, the stuff on the table that stays on it the whole time (since nobody pulled the cloth^^) & the falling cupboard which also was a lot of work and in the end they had to kick it through an open window behind it to make it fall. And obviously that had to succeed since they only had one take for that part. They filmed it in an abandoned house that was about to be demolished and they found the old cupboard for free on ebay and even filled the fish tank in it with water.

In Germany directly recording specific people without allowance actually is forbidden by law. In audio and video. And that's a good thing. It is usually not allowed to film a stranger just like that. There is the right to one's own image and the general right to personality and that would be disturbed by this. But I'm allowed to film a busy scene on a street, for example, if I don't highlight individual people. In this case it was also a demonstration, or rather the move from one demonstration to another. The camera team was a team from ZDF, public television, and they wanted to report on these demonstrations. And the "hat citizen" was actually just part of the background, but because he put himself in the picture and didn't show any signs of not being filtered, the television team actually didn't do anything wrong. Even more. The moment he verbally attacks a television crew like that, he could have become a person of contemporary interest and then television has every right to film this person and publish it. Supposed a participant goes to the press people and asks for not filming him or releasing films and pictures it's not allowed to make or release pictures or films of him going to the press people.

Nothing realy falls down on you, it is more like roling over you slowly and the only weigjt is the bottom.

I remember that for a doctor's appointment, I went to another part of the city, one which I am not in very often as that tends to be the place where the odd things happen (like, each time I am there, something does occur). I, as a minor even back then, was asked by a guy for a picture - I didn't understand him so I asked him to repeat himself, and due to traffic, he had to do so several times. When I still didn't hear him, he just held up his phone and tried taking a picture together, which was apparently what he wanted from me. So I immediately waved of, told him I didn't want to be in a picture he could technically do with whatever he wanted as I had no idea who he was and what he might do with it, and that since I was a minor (I must have been around 13 then) and he did not have a guardian's consent (until you can consent yourself, a guardian has to do it for you so that the people taking a picture of you or filming you cannot be faulted for taking those pictures and possibly publishing them, which a guardian could sue them for, in the case of only the minor's consent as they have the final say and therefore the right to take back the agreement of a minor (at least this is very important for pictures taken at school and more official events, they provide a form for the guardian to sign before that and have to blur you out if you end up in a picture without consent)). I was speaking rather fast and I don't think he understood much of what I was saying, he appeared to be a foreigner (I only assume as he started mumbling in a (to me) foreign language when walking away). My question now would be, is it actually the norm to just go up to strangers and ask for a picture? Like, is that something people do? The expectation of privacy is much broader in Germany. Broadcast material needs the consent of everybody filmed. Private stuff needs the consent, too, unless other people are only filmed incidentally when filming your family for example. As soon as you film people directly you need their consent, AFAIK. You only loose the expectation of privacy if you're a person of public interest or take part in especially news worthy activities like protests. But even with protests there are cases were consent is needed, again for direct and not incidental filming. A sweeping shot of a march is ok as is background, an interview or especially lingering shot without consent isn't. All of that is very AFAIK, not a lawyer and the little I know was accumulated incidentally over the last 3 decades.

You realy have to visit Rudolstadt, but not for the drunkeb drives: castle Heidecksburg has different but very interesting museums, Schiller lift here for one year but met Goethe for the first time here. His dwelling place during this time is well preserved and a museum. And here is the on of the oldest open-air-museums in Germany: "die Rudolstädter Bauernhäuser = The farmers' houses in Rudolstadt". And the Landscape is quite nice.
