Don't forget Mauler, which eventually became one of the most powerful spinners in existence - and then went on to KO itself practically every time it entered the arena.

I got one of Mauler's arms as a souvenir!

American Robot Wars might have stronger robots, but the British Robot Wars is by far more entertaining. A transatlantic competition would be soul vs machine, but I'm sure Sir Killalot could take on the Master anyday!!!

I remember years ago, my brother lent me this on VHS, I was intrigued by the arena at the time. Oh, and at 6:45 - Someone started Windows 95!

Maybe it was better because this was long before RW UK and the robots were made without any experience?

It's quite astonishing how advanced the American robots are even this early in robot fighting history- the 1995 battle between The Master and Thor was used to drum up interest in robot fighting that would lead to the first series of Robot Wars, but the UK robots in the 1st Wars were a JOKE compared to what we see here from the American bots- it wouldn't be until about the 3rd Wars (with the appearance of Chaos 2, Hypno-Disc and Firestorm) that the UK would catch up to about this level. That said, it's weird that, with their more advanced robots, the Americans didn't produce their own robot fighting show until Battlebots started airing in 2000 2 years after Robot Wars began. Anyone think The Master was the inspiration (albeit in a more simplified form) for Stinger? The whole "put the electronics in the wheel hubs with the weapon between them" thing.

+ArcaneAzmadi Technically you're right. First Battlebots thing on TV was aired in 1999 on PPV, while the first Robot Wars series was filmed and shown in late 1997.

it's funny that Robot Wars was an American thing, but i assume through some copyright shenanigans the UK ended up owning the name, and that's why the USA uses Battle bots now

I thought Robot Wars was a British thing? It started in 1998 in the UK, how comes it's got 1995 Robot Wars America? Did the UK copy the Americans? Was it American or British originally?
@richard294159 жыл бұрын
Wow! I didn't know this, thanks for telling me that.
