I didn't know about the twelve grapes in the New's Year Eve, it's so interesting. In Brazil, we have two practices similar in the New's Year "wishes", if i could called that: the first one, you need to eat lentils on a ladder or on a chair, you need to stay above the floor and make your wishes while you eating, which a promise to be rich, because if you were up the floor your life follows it and it's growth; and the other, if you were at the beach, you really need to be at the beach, to jump seven waves while you making your wishes and be grateful to Yemanjá (an orisha of sea and mother of others orishas). This last one is a religious practice, so it's quite specifically for one group, the afro-brazilian religions, but it's common see people around us just follow this.

Spain, which catapulted the Catholic religion into full swing in the Philippines back in the 16th century totally took a 180 degree turn from being an ultra conservative society influenced by the Inquisition to being one of the most liberal in Europe especially nowadays after the end of the Franco era. While walking the streets of Atocha in Madrid for example one could not help but notice the abundance of "peep show" places, as they are called in Europe, where live erotic entertainment "performed by a couple" 😉 is featured and open to one's viewing pleasure at the drop of a token. I still remember the signboard on the stalls saying, "el sexo en vivo a partir de dos cientas." 😄 Of course, this was during the pre Euro years back in 2000. There was a capilla beside "El Mundo Erótico" which was empty while the peep show place was jam-packed with patrons. Somewhat shocked because I couldn't even find entertainment like this that actually feature the "live act" on stage in liberal cities in the US like San Francisco or Las Vegas unless of course you are shooting porn. Surprised also that divorce and abortion are completely legal in Spain while in the Philippines where they introduced Catholicism, it is the opposite. Filipinos who travel to Spain's major cities, ie, Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia would be shocked to discover that such liberalism is so openly accepted in modern day Spain.

@yagogabriell11 ай бұрын
Aqui também. Outra é passar a virada com a uva na boca! E subir na cadeira e só descer no "outro ano".

It really saddens me that the idea of marriage being a lifetime commitment now seems strange.

In the Philippines divorced you can't get divorced, but you can get annulment which can cost about $10,000 US. Which most people in the Philippines earn about $250 US/month. Who has the money to do that. You can also go to jail for adultery in the Philippines. Someone i knew started dating a man who she thought was single because he told her that he was separated from his wife for over 6 years, but then the wife wanted to put the woman in jail to her surprised. Maybe because they wanted money from her if she settled
