Thank you for your response to gas piston differences. I have learned a great deal from your videos. Our local range is indoors, and only allow slugs. Needed clarification & you prevailed. Thank you Del Williams

the heavy load piston is for 3inch shells if you run 3in shells you have to change it out or risk bad things happening

that wear dosent look like its from the top of the bolt. It looks like wear from the locking block being lifted due to the inertia of the bolt moving rearward still right before it meets the end of the recoil spring full compression which at that point starts forcing the action bar forward, which SLAMS the locking block up into the inside of the receiver until the bolt catches back up with the cycling. you could test it by putting a light coat of some type of easy clean paint on the damaged area and running one round through it and disassembling to see if the block or bolt top has more paint on it.

American Defender, So i just purchased a new BP-12 and they have milled a slot with a dove tail in the upper where you are having a wear problem and added a flat steel plate. It appears to be .250 wide and 1.375 long although it's a little hard to measure... So they are aware of the issue it seems.

They are. I'd be interested in seeing what they did. Could you somehow send me a picture on Instagram or email me? I've considered doing the same thing to my bp12.

Does the installed piston supposed to have an o-ring on it? Mine did when i field stripped it but it was broken. New gun, was cleaning it right out the box.

@@vabianelmore yes

Is it the same o-ring as for the heavy piston....so i can just swap rings?@@AmericanDefender
@AmericanDefender22 күн бұрын
I need to correct myself. The installed piston does NOT have an o-ring. Only the 3 inch piston uses an oring. Both pistons should have a steel ring on them. I do apologize for any confusion.

I have a question. Can I use the high velocity piston and still shoot low velocity rounds?
@AmericanDefender10 ай бұрын
If they will cycle yes. You just can't do it the other way around. Chances are, it may not cycle, though.

When cocked is it okay for the gas piston to slide all the way down?
@AmericanDefender5 ай бұрын
I'm not understanding what you mean.
@AmericanDefender5 ай бұрын
If the bolt is held open then yes, the piston can move.
@joshcronk46875 ай бұрын
Yes that's what I meant when I pull the bolt back the Piston slides all the way down with it
