Profit and capitalism, yeah! It's called liberalism. Who should a government support to gain? The businesses or the people? US choosed the companies, EU governments are apparently more on the social side. It's not clear now what will sustain better. But life quality in Europe it's better for sure now. US industry is mostly unregulated, that's a problem. On top is bribing and lobbying.

@@wWvwvV And we can also mention what the US method means in the long run. It promotes criminality as people run out of money. It promotes an unhealthy work environment where everyone wants to stab each other in the back to get advantages. It promotes a try-to-cheat-the-system mentality as people will try to get by as cheap as possible. In the long run...I don't think this can work, the system will self-implode.

British cops are the best in the world. They have their problems - as every force does - but the overall standards are really high. I remember watching some clips from interventions that were deemed outrageous by the Americans - like when it took like 10 British cops to subdue a guy with a machete, and they used a wheelie bin. I don't think it was ridiculous at all - they've managed to stop someone in a mental health crisis without harming them or the public. Job well done.

In my opinion the biggest difference between the US and the civilised world is, that in the US it is all about egoism and individualism. "_My_ rights. _My_ freedom to have a gun. _My_ tax money should not go to the poors" whereas in allmost all other countries it is more about the society "People have rights. People should have the freedom to walk aroudn without fear of guns. People should have the possibility to go to a doctor no matter how much money they have." I pay a lot of taxes and health insurance here in germany, and I am glad that I do and someone else not that lucky profits from it.

I don't think I will ever understand this American health care system. You pay hundreds of dollars a month and you still have to pay for the treatments. The point of insurance is to avoid any extra costs. At least that is the case in most countries. It meant an internal fixation operation and a whole month in hospital. I didn't have to pay anything. Even the leg brace I had to wear for a time and my aluminum crutches were free. My subsequent outpatient checkups also free. I live in a house with steps and ramps to my front door and the hospital wouldn't discharge me until metal handrails from the sidewalk to my front door had been installed. Guess what? Yep, that was free of charge, too. Now that really is caring for someone.

Guys,regarding trespassing: this is a strong cultural difference between America and Europe. In America "property" is almost a religious word. In Europe we are much, much more relaxed about that. In Sweden for example there is a law called Allemansrätten, which would translate loosely as "every person's right". It says that every land and territory that is not fenced off or walled or delimited physically in some way, is open for anyone to walk through, even pick berries, mushrooms and stuff. Of course you're not allowed to put up a tent and start camping in someone's back yard, but fields, forests and such are open to absolutely everyone. And let's be serious: what's going to happen if someone walks across your property??? Will the grass stop growing in their footprints or what? Why would anyone be concerned if a stranger crosses their land? Where's the damage or the risk that would justify prohibiting it, not to mention killing that person? Regarding Singapore: yes, it's one of the safest places on the planet, with an extremely low criminality. But part of the reason is that their justice system is... let's say a bit rough: they have CANING. Singapore is what one might call a beneficial dictatorship. People are pretty much as free as anywhere else until a certain point. Chewing gums are illegal, you get fined if you're caught with it (because the city used to be a mess with gum being thrown away everywhere), for drug related crimes they have the death penalty, and if the government decides to build a highway right where your house stands, and they tell you to move, you move. Period. But it seems like the locals really like this system, it works for them, it suits their needs and culture.
@enlightendbel
@enlightendbel Жыл бұрын
In Britain and most of Europe, this is simply "the Right of Way". You have the right to cross nearly any property to get somewhere. The only real limitations are usually that you can't enter buildings, damage gardens/crops or set up camp on someones property. But just simply crossing the property to get somewhere else, perfectly in your right.

Trespassing. Here in Europe the thinking is different. I have a house with a garden, no fence, no gate. If someone comes onto my property, they'll probably need help. So it's much more likely to have a beer or a coffee with them than a shoot. It never occurred to me that I needed a gun to protect myself. Even if we see someone "crazy", we think about "why" and try to calm the situation down with words.

22:35 No, they are not trying to do that - Singapore IS a wealthy place (which obviously doesn't mean that no one has financial problems over there or that everyone is rich). 26:17 There are mor than 5000 different brands of beer produced in Germany. It should also be mentioned that most US beer tastes like dishwater compared to German beer (or European beer in general). 28:25 Large shootings in the USA like the Vegas shooting are in the news here in Europe. In fact out of the top 15 countries with the most victims of gun violence per capita 14 are american including the USA, 1 is african. The shooter in Vegas killed 60 people and wounded an additional 413 people. 33:00 All scandinavian countries (Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland) are expensive - as a German who lives in northern Germany close to the danish border I have visited all of these countries except Finland many, many times and yes, they are expensive. If you go into a shop in Norway the prices are like a kick in the nuts. This means that the cost of living in these countries is high (as is the national average income btw). However - the overall costs are still way lower than in the USA because insurances like in this example are very affordable, healthcare is free because it is tax funded (simplifying things a bit for convenience), education is funded by taxes as well etc. In short - the tax money is used to fund good public services that take care of most things. People don't have to go into crushing dept for medical treatment or education. Here's a depressing piece of information: The Nr.1 reason for private households in the USA going bust are medical bills. 39:40 Even in most developing and many so-called third world countries (I really don't like that term) the governments provide some sort of basic medical and social security. The USA is literally the worst place to be in case you need help because everything in the USA is set up with one thing and one thing only in mind: to maximize profits. In reality the USA invented a new religion and way too many US americans make their new god - the Almighty Dollar - the center of their lives. 41:55 That's not wild, that's normal. One option for travelling somewhere else: If you have young relatives maybe they should check out options of studying abroad. This serves two purposes at the same time: They get to see other countries...and they save money. Here in Germany students only pay the so-called Semesterbeitrag which is about 200-300 Euro and already includes a ticket for public transportation in the region for the entire semester (the Semesterticket). People have to cover their cost of living of course but that's it - no crushing student loans. This is the deal for every student, foreigners included. And it is still beneficial to us because many (not all of course) students decide to stay and work here afterwards, paying taxes and contributing to the country.

As for childbirth, in the Netherlands, you get (by law as a minimum) a nurse at home taking care of the household, looking after mother and child (and guests), doing some shopping and light cleaning, bathing and weighing the baby and teaching both parents how to take care of the baby. The minimum amount is 24 hours in 8 days. As standard, you get 49, which is the normal amount, and the maximum is 80 hours. Without extra insurance, they will cost 4,10 per hour. So normally (standard package) it will cost you 200 Euro without having extra insurance. The amount is flexible. If there are complications, or you are a single mother, the amount of hours of post childbirth care will be increased. Fun fact, one third of the pregnant women in NL choose to give birth at home.

$100 a year insurance sounded cheap, but that is true even today if you are studying in Sweden. That includes property (damage or theft), if you're sued, if you need a lawyer and if something unforseen happens when you travel. Car insurance is not included. 42:06 Actually here in Sweden you can be sick from day 1 and usually have all the vacation days (depending on what date you start), but you usually also have a 3 or 6 months tryout. That is a period when both the employer and employee can basically quit the employment on the same day without cause. After that it is REALLY hard to fire someone. In the UK after the socialised housing was called Council housing, it was built and was rented out the the people in an the small taxed area called the “Borough Council” as in towns or for the country the “Urban Council”, so that particular council would collect rents from the people who lived in them. This would pay for repairs etc. for the council wide housing, they were built in schemes, not as in the US in blocks (squares, rectangles) but they followed the contours of the map so their were and are today not many straight roads anywhere. Thr council housing nowadays have virtually gone because Maggy (Margaret) Thatcher back in the eighties thought it a fantastic idea for people to buy their council housing. Good idea you you might say, well it sounds good but before that time the government built housing estates as required and there was housing enough for everyone with the work force to build and maintain the housing stock. Now of course the private sector have taken over so not enough housing to go round. Americans mite say privatisation is a good thing and the way to go, to be honest we’ve found that it just doesn’t serve the whole of our society especially the poorer sector. Does that help? Oh ! And of course we are a small island with limited building land which means private companies driving up costs per property for smaller square footage.

I think it was the basic "hemförsäkring" (home insurance), it cover everything you would bring with you if you where to move like electronics, furniture, clothes and other gadgets. Depending on the insurance agreement you will have to pay a set amount whenever you want to use it. The amount could be like $100 which is worth paying if you would break your brand new phone, not so much if you rip your pants.

Hello from Germany. To answer your question about the most popular type of beer in germany, it is pilsner. I think almost every brewery in germany brews this type of beer. Originatet in the city of Pilsen in the czech republic. Of course their are other kinds of beer like "helles" , or "hefeweizen" as well as "radler" , which is a mix of beer and lemonade.

Regarding housing, in many EU countries it's by law a requirement to supply housing for everyone. Norway for example, the state will pay your rent for you if you can't afford it yourself. Also if you lose your housing, (by law) the state has to find something for you within 24 hours.

Hello, I´m from Portugal, I had 2 C-section, for my 2 children , and I can tell you it is a major surgery, I stayed in the hospital for 4 days, each time the recuperation is a little arder due to the stitches but its manageable, we don't have physical therapy :( I didn't pay anything since we have free healthcare. This past Monday I had a nose surgery to extract some polyps that keep apear and don't let me breath properly ( have done this type of surgery for 4 times now in the past 20 years) and I didn't pay anything. Now I'm at home on sick leave for 10 days payed by the social security, for itch I pay a tax every month and once I have 67 years or 35 years of tax payed I can Finally retire :) What we learn in school related with prevention is regarding fire and earthquake nothing related with guns. Thanks for showing the paper spray I only had seen it in movies. I don't think there ever was a shooting in my country in fact Portugal is the 4º safeties country in the world, we have small robberies and domestic violence.

Going to a concert (or any fun event) there's usually only one thing going in my mind (apart from having fun) - don't go over 10 beers, you need to find your way home... Honestly, it's unimaginable to me to be worrying about mass shooters or someone attacking you in general... Sure, exercise caution because there are a$$h0les everywhere but you don't need to be looking over your shoulder, checking escape routes and stuff like that... Also no, I didn't know you need to run away from a shooter in zig-zag fashion to make yourself more difficult to hit... I mean, it does make sense when I'm thinking about it (now), it's just I've never HAD to think about it AT ALL...

Hey guys, much Love from Switzerland 🇨🇭!!! Love your discussions on this channel!!! In the country where I live, military service is generally compulsory for every male citizen unless there is a good reason not to do so. Anyone who receives a weapon for training keeps this weapon with the munitions and your personal equipment at home, to be always ready in case you be needed from the military to defend the country... Thus, a large part of the population has a military weapon in their household... Nevertheless, the last shooting in Switzerland happened in 2001... I haven't thought about all this private weapons in years, and not even once ever thought about it in a way like I should be afraid or something about it... Whatever, I just wanted to give you some good wishes for the future and you to know that I appreciate your channel very much!!! PEACE AND LOVE ✌️✌️✌️

The so-called "ban on weapons" is also incorrect, since weapons can be legally purchased in almost every European country if you comply with legal requirements. In most cases, however, carrying a weapon for a private person in everyday life is only subject to strict conditions and requirements that must be met. These requirements are checked at regular intervals.

It's a culture difference. If you think about it, most of the Swiss guys with these guns at home actually have military training to go along with them which makes it extra scary. It just doesn't happen though because shooting up a school doesn't even cross a Swiss person's brain.

Not that long ago, there was the grocery store shooting here in the US and there was another one I can't remember where(I know it's sad to the point I can't tell the difference any more of mass shootings) and a week or so later I go to work, I work at a chain bookstore and those shootings are always in the back of my mind at work. I was assigned to work the register on the other side of the store, which was slow with customers. I saw a man enter the store and turned to hold the door closed. From my line of sight it looked like he was about to bar the door and my mind immediately went, "Oh shit, he's a shooter. He's locking the exits so no one can escape." my heart was pounding, and then I see his kids show up. He was joking around with them, not letting them in the store by holding the door closed. He wasn't a shooter. He was just a dad playing with his kid. I realized how fucked up and sad that my mind went "there" but that's the reality I'm living with here in the US. 🙁🙁

I grew up in Singapore. It was a fantastic, safe environment for kids to grow up. I remember going out late with my friends one night; it was after midnight and we were going from one bar to another and I saw a little old lady with her grandchild in-tow, both in their pyjamas, heading towards a local 7-11. None of us had a care in the world, nobody had any worries about being in danger. That came later, when I moved to the UK for university and I realized just how sheltered I had been, growing up. I can remember twice, in my childhood-early teens when there were two kindapping cases of young children; one was the daughter of a rich banker, the other of a very young little girl who supposedly just ‘vanished in thin air’ while out playing with siblings. The first child was released unharmed after a ransom was paid by the parents, the second child had been lured away and murdered by a pedophile. But you know, both sets of offenders were caught in under a week and within a month or two, both faced the death penalty. That’s a big reason why serious crime is so rare there; they hang you if you get caught and the cases that are never solved are minuscule, comparatively.
@juliemcgugan1244
@juliemcgugan1244 10 ай бұрын
Don’t get me wrong; crime does happen there, but the crime rate is nothing when compared to anywhere else within Asia, even. Like Hong Kong, Malaysia and Indonesia. But one thing that they are very strict about, which we had drummed into our heads at school, was the country’s drug penalties! When hanging out in a group, we always knew that there was a chance that we could be drawing the attention of the police, since they are very strict on potential ‘gangs.’ There aren’t the same laws where an underage person cannot be taken in or interrogated if they don’t have a guardian present. They will go and pick you up from your school annd if picked up on the street, your parents won’t necessarily know about it until you fail to come home. And we don’t have the right to a phone call, when in custody, even as a minor. If you are in a group of young people and the police approach you and frisk you, they are allowed to frisk you all, if something like drugs is found on one of you, they COULD charge you all with the same offense. And depending on whether the drugs in question is class A, B or C, and how much they have, they you may all also be charged with ‘intent to supply.’ All because it is over a certain amount. All over the airport, there are signs reminding those who are coming in from other countries, or who are just transiting through that ‘drugs = death.’ Yes, the death penalty is in place for certain drugs/amount of drugs. 15g of Heroin, 30g of cocaine, 250g of meth or 500g of cannabis.

I'm from Belgium and here it's compulsory to have a "mutuelle". It's an non-profit health insurance : the cost is somewhere between 7 and 15€ per month (it's free for children and student). Thanks to that, we pay only 5€ for an appointment with your family doctor and 15€ for a specialist. The rest is paid with our taxes. It makes all needed medical care affordable (from a cold to a heart attack or a cancer). For example, if you have a simple broken arm, you would pay maybe 30€ max for doctor, radiography, the cast, drugs and follow-up. Then physio will cost you about 2 or 3€/appointement In any emergency situation, you always get treated (even homeless with no ID) and if you have to pay something you'll receive a bill later. Plus, if you can't afford it (unemployed person or low-wage person), you won't pay it. Some areas are less covered like dental care or glasses. It doesn't cover luxury or cosmetic medicine. For example, if you want a room alone or tv-channels during an hospitalisation, you'll have to pay for that. If you want your "mutuelle" to cover those services, you can pay an hospitalisation premium (7 or 10€/month) or a dental care premium (4 or 5€/month) on top of the compusary basic one. So by paying 30€/month, you get full coverage, you won't pay anything more. We have private heath insurance but it's not a thing here. The only reason we pay for those are traveling outside of EU (our compulsory insurance works only in the EU) and to have repatriation (which is usually included in your car insurance). About running in zig-zag to avoid being shot, I think I learned it from watching american movies... We would never ever hear it from teachers or parents as kids. I find it kind of sad that you need shoot drills in school. We only have fire drills... School is totally free till end of high school (for all kids from 3y to 18y). Then, no matter what you decide to study, you'll pay about 850€ for a full year. (That's the price for EU citizens, it's a bit more for the others.) And, same as heath care, you can get partial or full scholarship if your family doesn't have a lot. The access to scholarship depends only on your parents' salary and how many are currently studying or your income if you live alone. About sick days, it's illimited (with medical prove). But if you take more than 30 days in a row, your employer'll stop paying your salary but you'll get a least 60% of your salary from the "mutuelle" (our social security). Your employer can't fire you for being sick. In same spirit, we have paid leave for special circonstances like death, wedding, religious evenment of close ones, if you have to go to court, etc. And we can take up to 10 days per year to take care of sick relatives (usually children). You can choose not to be paid or do thoses hours on an other time. All this is mostly true throughout Europe. Sorry for this loooong comment, hope you'll find it interesting !

(Norway) For five years after I started working I used to take at least one class at my old uni. For each exam I got two days off from work to go take the exam. As for weapons, you basically can have a gun if you shoot for sports, hunt or are part of the military/the police. We can't just go buy a gun. Pepper spray is illegal and so are electric shock weapons. As for being aware, I believe most Europeans know about the Las Vegas shooting. I'm very aware since Eminem did a music video to "Darkness" and I watched a documentary about the shooting. He stayed at the hotel a few days and kept bringing in more weapons and ammunition. Eminem made a point of the shooter having "no prior convictions" which he would not appear on any red flag-lists. Noone knows to this day why he did it... Travel insurance is less than 200$ here. That insures you for everything when you go abroad (Health, theft, accidents, etc...). Maybe she got one of those, since she was technically travelling abroad. Ambulance and hospital are free here. In the matter of private property, here in Norway we have a law that states that people can move relatively freely in the whole country. In the winter we ski across people's fields and we can go to the beach and go swimming on people's property (so that rich people can't hog the coastline or the mountains). You obviously consider things, if someone has a tiny beach to themselves you don't go there, but if someone owns several islands with beautiful beaches and aren't using them at the time we can go there.

Socialised housing: In Australia, we've slowed down building social housing for many years, and we've increased the number of immigrants and refugees we take in. Currently, if you don't have immediate housing needs or if you're not in an at risk situation (women with young children), you have to wait anywhere between five and ten years to get into social housing, because people with higher priority get, well, higher priority. I am happy to have more immigrants and refugees. I am happy to let women with children get to the front of the line. It's still not good enough for anyone to need to wait up to a decade to get into social housing. The good news is that our government is finally cluing into the fact that they need to build more affordable housing, a portion of which will be dedicated to social housing. Granted, we're in the middle of a materials shortage right now, so it's going to cost more than it should, but it needs to be done. The housing market is about to burst, so having plenty of social and affordable housing being built will help reduce the damage from that.

Within three hours and numerous scans and tests the consensus was that I had a spinal concussion and that was the cause of my paralysis. I was pumped full of anti-inflammatories, checked for cognitive impairment frequently (in case the swelling was blocking blood flow to my brain) and kept cheery by the staff. Twelve hours later and after horrific whole body pins and needles sensation started returning. Once I was able to stand, fitted with a neck support, I was sent home by cab (paid for by one of the doctors). Cost to me zero. Thirty years on, I am 66 and fully active thanks to the NHS.

You should react to Evan Edinger's video about US vs UK healthcare and how much the NHS in the UK pays for treatments, procedures, medicines etc compared to the prices the US citizens pay. It's a very interesting video. Keep in mind the UK prices are what it costs the hospital, not the UK citizen.

Pretty sure, we our primary housing in sweden is socialised housing, if u mean that the government provides it at a set fair rent. The only issues is the wait time but u could always by pass that by putting ur kids in line when theyre born so they have one by their 20s.

I had an accident at work where I dislocated my collarbone. Without worrying about cost, I called an ambulance. In the end they didn't transport me because I couldn't leave before I was relieved (I work alone at that location). So I got picked up by my brother later and went to the ER. They took X-rays and gave me a sling for my arm and was send home after they made sure I didn't need surgery. No charge so far. I've been at home for 9 weeks, no pressure from my boss and I got paid in full. After those 9 weeks I started with 4 hr workdays for 2 weeks to see if I could fully do the job again. We do have like an organisation that checks up on you to see how it's going and maybe make a plan to get you back to work in a healthy manner. But I assume that's because companies are insured for sick workers and they want to make sure you're not taking advantage. I believe you get your full salary up to a year (maybe two) before they lower it to 70%. About the trespassing, I think there's a difference as to whether you come up to a house or a car, or when you cross a wide open farm field. Over here people aren't that concerned about malicious intent, it's more about privacy I think. Plus in most countries in Europe you are not allowed to have a gun as a private citizen. At least not for self/home defense. There a very strict gun laws and it's not easy to get a permit. We probably pay a little more tax than the USA but those taxes also pay for a lot more things that Americans have to pay for out of pocket like healthcare, an education, child care etc so everybody has access to those things and not just the wealthy. So in the end you don't get in financial troubles for needing surgery, giving birth or needing medication like insuline or something silly like that. I've seen reactions of Americans about things like universal healthcare or forgiving student loans. People get mad because why should they pay for someone else. I think in the end it would benefit everybody if people are healthier or get a decent education or even fair pay and human working conditions.

In the Netherlands you can be contiguous ill for two years. Payment over these two years is 170 %. For example 100% first year and 70% second year of 85% both years. This decision must be made with the agreement of the Works Council After these two years the employer can fire you. But the employer must prove that he has done everything possible to help this person to re-integrate, even with another job within the company. Then various social network possibilities gets started. (this explanation is in a nutshell there are many rules to comply for the employer as well for the employee)

I was ill once in 2018 because of a thrombosis. I was in the hospital for 4 weeks and then home sick for 14 weeks. I informed my employer how long I would be ill and that was it. After 6 weeks, the employer no longer has to pay anything and the health insurance company takes over with sick pay. This is 70-90% of gross income and is paid for a maximum of 72 weeks. After that, you go back to your work as normal.

It's funny how you mentioned Australians in Bali. I was in Bali a few years back, and the thing I remember the most about that trip was that there were a TON of Australians and Germans there, and a lot of them were incredibly loud and obnoxious. Hi you two beautiful people :) This is regarding episode 21. I love how passionately you talk about things that dont seem right in your country. I´m sorry if I misspell a word or two, english isnt my native language. Never the less I will throw this into further debate or /and for you to use in another disscussion/reaction video. Did you know that out of 25 countries worldwide the United States of America has THE LARGEST DEBT ever - EVER?!, which currently is more than 30 trillion USD - that is 30.000.000.000.000 USD!!!. And yet we still refer to America as the number one richest country in the world. How does that work? well thats because United States is the leading economy of the world with regard to GDP. Like GDP = nationalproduction ( well not only buuuuut...) Maybe Lisa whos working on minimal wage, every once in a while pauses, and thinks to herself " I can manage on minimal wage because every other year I get to see close up pictures of Mars or the rings around Saturn - yeah ...." Or do you think people will wake up, step up, and actually rise to the occasion and make America great again? With love from europe :)

Swede here, I don't see any recent comment from one of us, so even though the video isn't new I thought I'd chime in if someone is late to the party like me. Yes, a 100 dollars, (1000kr if you pretend 10kr is 1 dollar) was probably pretty reasonable for all the insurances you "need" when she made her claim, but! Maybe she also lived somewhere where the probability to need to use the insurance was relatively low, costs do differ depending on where you live and how old you are and what car you have (theft-prone cars have higher costs and also car insurance is ridiculous when you are under 30, because the boomers think you are more likely to have an accident when you are young, but I digress). Right now where I live it is a about lets say 700 dollars (if we pretend that 1 dollar is still worth 10kr) per yer for all insurances you "need". Most insurance providers do "bundle discounts" too if you get more than one thing insured with them like: your home, your car, your pet, you if an accident happens, etc. (I have all my things under different providers for... reasons... though so I could probably have a lower cost otherwise). Of course coverage is what makes the price ranges differ, some all encompassing insurances are hella expensive, (when you live off of tax payer money especially), but it isn't too bad if you find the right provider. Most newer ones need to be "good" to get a foot in the market while the older greedy f*cks can just putter on with their sh*t deals and lackluster coverage because no one wants the hassle of looking for a new better provider, but I digress.

yes im a swede and a student and pay about 10 dollars a month for insurance for my entire home, if i hurt myself, and everything i own for example my computer, bike and stuff like that. This insurance is called "hemförsäkring" and translates to "home insurance" and covers if anything would be stolen from your home, if your bike got stolen, if a water leak would destroy anything in your house or if a fire would occur in your home. And this insurance has nothing to do with your free healthcare or free education, these things are still free. Plus i also got insurance for my two cats that cost me about 20 dollars a month and cover veterinary costs up to 40 000 dollars, plus free medication and other treatments for my cats.

The US of being cheaper, especially in terms of taxes, is a lie. If you add federal tax, state tax, local tax, sales tax and also include healthcare premiums (what other countries do include into their taxes in one way or the other), you'll end up with an average of 43% of your income, that you have to pay as taxes in the US. That is a high overall tax rate, compared to other countries. When you also consider, what these taxes / your government give you back in terms of services (that's what taxes are primarly meant for) and compare that to these other countries as well, you'll see, that universal healthcare, free schools, free universities, way more and better children playgrounds, good and cheap public transportation, perfect road conditions, low crime rates etc. are not just distopian dreams, that is somehow only impossible in the US. And living costs are usually also cheaper in most western countries as well, when compared with the US.

If you are sick a long time you go to the company 's doctor then together you make a plan of what to do next either medical care or physiotherapy therapy or mental care or....whatever. when you are better you go back to work either full time or part time depending on your health. It is very interesting how you guys discussed Iran, religiously driven countries and wars in the Middle East etc.. A very common american view is to see their country being superior to these systems. Which, of course, may or may not be obvious to you. One huge problem is, that the US is heavily involved in the history of these radical religious systems and wars in the ME (and a lot of wars and political annoyances in Africa, too). Like for example Iran. The former Iran had a perfectly modern-style democracy until the US installed the dictator Shah Rezah Pahlevi and his secret service that was known to violate human rights all the time. (Even demonstrations of german students against the visit of the Shah in Germany for example turned violent due to his secret service agent provocateurs (incognito in civil clothes) that started fights involving the students and the police. This was obviously used by our government to shut the demonstrations down by the police to not interfere with the America- and Persia-friendly German foreign politics of that time, it is a documented historical event ...) If you are interested in the history of the U.S. in the Middle East from a very different and very well researched fact-driven POV, there is a very, very interesting dark humorous political cabaret special, I can really, really recommend. It is from the nowadays retired from stage Volker Pispers (german language, with english subs), who gains some unexpected late international attention, mostly by younger black YT reactors who are interested in the US and the relationship to other countries, somehow like you (? "The internet moves in mysterious ways it's wonders to perform" ?). He could be in some way compared to maybe George Carlin, from style and in his timeless relevance, just a bit more political? Watch out, his special from 2004 is available in 5 parts, which is a bit annoying because many don't get the whole historical picture he gives. Very dark humor. VERY dark humor. But fantastic in it's accuracy and still very relevant to todays world and it's problems. "Volker Pispers history of USA and terrorism" I thought you guys may be interested to see this, because his analysis is just brilliant. I really like the ideas behind your podcast and reactions concept, which is not about short clickbait entertainment YT videos, but much more in-depth discussion and thought exchange. I think this might be something for you. Even if you might not make a reaction video to it. Best regards and keep up this channel. It is somehow different from most formats on YT, and I enjoy this very much.

The thing with Sweden is home insurance and it's between 100-250 USD (depends on whether it's a small apartment or a house) and it's not car insurance and the like but things around the home and bicycle and also for damages that can occur in accidents (the care in hospitals/care centers is that after $110 it is free for 365 days/period and medicine is a maximum of $220 for a year so 330USD for a period of one year and then everything is free regardless of how serious it is with medicine and medical visits) When it comes to sick leave like this in Sweden you get 80% of your salary from the second day, while some other countries here have 90% of your salary from the first day sick. As for holidays, it is paid time off from work with 100% pay with a minimum of 25 days + 11 days on red days such as Christmas and New Year and Easter with pay without work

Sweede here: I think she talked about home insurance and that's about $100-150 a year. That includes everything in your home and your home. Car insurance is outside that and that can be quite expensive dependent on what car you have so I cant give you a number. When I had a BMW M3 it was $2000 a year and now that I have a Volvo D3 it's $220 a year. Unemployment insurance is $180 a year. and last but not least road tax is about $250 a year but that also varies depending on what car you have. Some people have life insurance too but work will cover you to and from work and during work so I don't have that but I would guess it's also about $100-200 a year. That's all the insurance you would ever need in Sweden.

I am from Germany, and actually, you can find EVERY type of beer in Germany in excellent quality. It is very different, which kind of beer is preferred, depending on the region. Like those 1 liter beer glasses in Bavaria is not at all common in the whole rest of Germany. You can get everything from extremely dark and strong beers that are somehow like those that Belgium is also known for, up to the probably most bitter Pilsners (worldwide) of my hometown Flensburg and the one of the city of Jever in the far north of Germany, where we like very refreshing, dry (and not the slightest bit sweet) Pilsners. Some say that Flensburger Pilsner is maybe one of the 10 most unique and best Pilsners ever. But I can wholeheartedly recommend Jever Pilsner, too, maybe even more dry/bitter, but not that unique taste otherwise. If you don't find at least one GREAT beer in Germany (no matter where in Germany you are), something went terribly wrong. There are literally 1000s of great beers, most of them very pure with the ingredients (the german "Reinheitsgebot" = Rule of Beer Purity with only the minimal needed ingredients allowed was an actual law since the medievil times in Germany :-) although nowadays it has been dropped to give flavoured beers, that are popular in other countries, a chance).

Which you can now access on your phone, so there’s never a problem you are free to roam, but you need to stay on the paths. The US says it’s the land of the free But it’s not just a thought

Austrian here...In behalf of Education... Basic Education is free in Austria..From School entry till ending reglar School (= 9 years at least till 12 years when taking the academic path) that doesn´t cost any fees. The school system is quite different compared to the US. At first there is 4 years called "Grundschule/Volksschule" from the age from 6 till 10 for everyone. Then depending on the grades and interest the schoolpath is splitting either to choose a school-path for trades/handcraft or an academic school-path. The regular path for trades/handcraft is from the age of 10 - 15 = 4 years school for basic education + 1 year preparing for a following at least 3 years lasting apprenticeship in a company going to work as apprentice with a little wage + at least 2 days per work-week you spend in school instead of at work which is training you in that field of work as well for 3 years and then you have to make an exam to become "a fully skilled/trained worker/craftsman in the field" with graduation certificate...at that point of time you are about 18 years old. The academic path is 8 years from the age of 10 -18 where the basic education is more comprehensive preparing you for University. After 8 years you have to make an exam which is prerequisit to then to be able to go to University. That exam is intense because that is not a multiple choice test, but you will get challenging tasks to fullfill in every single subject - verbally + written form - and the whole exam is lasting a week..and for passing you get a diploma. There is also an 8 years academic path for certain branches of trades as well, foremost for office jobs/middle management or certain tec-branches and their graduation is worth as like the academic school diploma and opens the way for University as well. There is also the opportunity for students which went at first the regular trade/handcraft path but decided to take an academic path by interupting the regular trade/handcraft path as well or vice versa from the academic path to the trade/handecraft path. Basically you just switch school but those coming from the regular trade/handcraft path have to catch up by themselves because as I mentioned before the academic path is way more comprehensive from the get go than the regular trade/handcraft path.. That all do not cost a single dime. University is actually NOT free...neither "free to go" because you have to have that previous mentioned exam diploma..nor..."financially free" You have to pay fees per semester BUT those are not in the slightest comparable to the US because those are just a few hundred bucks per Semester. Another difference is that students of the academic path learned during those 8 years to become self-reliant learners/students because at University you have to be a self-reliant student because no one is taking your hand and is guiding you through in order to learn the stuff/no one is preparing you (no personal Tutors) for your University exams/degrees that´s is all your responsibility alone, because you are an adult and no kid anymore. You are just visiting the lectures and that´s it...and then you have to prepare yourself for the exams in order to get your degrees. That is now just a simplified overview scratching on the surface, although I already wrote an essay ;-D And I will additionally mention that the education system in Germany is very similar to ours.

Austrian here, I would like to expand on that. As for the 8 years at what would be highschool in the USA, the final exam, at least when I took it ("Matura" here, Abitur in Germany), lasted one week for the written exams and another day (set at a later date) for the oral exam. If you fail a written exam the first time you take it, or are likely to, you can take the subject back up for the oral exam and pass it that way, though that may have changed. As for universities, there are three types: The classical universities you mentioned, where you, at least if you finish your studies within a certain time period, only pay the ÖH fee, which is the fee for the Austrian study representation (?), consisting of parties of students that are elected by students and represent them. It's about 20 dollars. If you take very long, however, and surpass a certain amount of semesters you will need topay an additionally an additional fee, about 450 dollars, per semester. The FHs, Fachhochschulen, also allow you the get a academic degree, however their structure and curriculums are a lot more similat to schools, as in each semester has mandatory curriculum you need to finish at the end of the semester to continue, presence is mandatory for all or nearly all courses with only a certain amount of sick leaves allowed, and you have to pay a higher fee each semester (I believe it's about 365 dollars plus another 20 for the ÖH fee.) But, you know when you'll be finished for sure. Private universities, of course, may charge you whatever. The Sigmund Freud University, which offers medical studies, charges about 10 000 Euros per semester, I believe. However, additionally to that, you will always have to pay your living fee. Families do get child support, even whilst the children are still studying. Currently, to my knowledge, you can get child support until your child is 27 and proves a certain amount of ECTS achieved/semester. As our universities generally don't have their own housing buildings, or comparatively small ones, it is much more common to live with your family even if you are already studying. Students also pay less money for public transport tickets, they can get a special semester ticket. Hence, why on the first day of holidays or the semester, you will have a lot more ticket controls in public transport, something to ook out for ;)
