When my sister first went to the US and stayed at her friends's place (a middle class couple in their mid 30's) she was shocked to find out that it's a normal thing to use hard plastic dishes. Those kind of plates here in Italy (and Europe in general) are used just by toddler (and not always) or maybe camping

And it is often flabbergasted if you move how much glasses you have acquired. Beer brands sometimes have sales where they give a free glass with a six pack of fancy beer etc. It accumulates over time. Not sixty, but I can easily manage 30 I think. And if for parties quite often glass is bought also. The basic soda/beer glasses used in bars (called stapel-glas which translates as stackable glasses) are relatively cheap and still comfortable drinking. If you hire a beertap, it often comes with glasses.

We do have medical ads in Slovakia, but only for the over-the-counter drugs, mostly nasal sprays, something for pain in the throat, painkillers, something for digestion problems, supplements or vitamins. They are short, they don't mention the side effects and they are more frequent in flu season. But there are no ads for prescription drugs, we don't make decisions about our medications. If we tried to suggest a medication to our doctors, we would probably get an angry "Are you the doctor or me??" 😄

In Germany single-use tableware is banned, including plastic straws. But it is common to use real glasses anyways. In many households you‘ll find the so-called Senfkristall (literally meaning mustard‘s cut-glass): after the glass of mustard is empty we use it as a drinking glass - its cheap, it reduces your glass litter and you have it at home anyways, so if it gets broken it’s no big deal.

@Arno Dobler - That was FUNNY and SO correct... 'Breaking Bad' would have had one episode in most of Europe... Because we have 'National Healthcare' !!! I'm in the UK and if anyone is VERY sick (unable to move), they call an ambulance (NO cost!). Then in hospital, you get treated (NO cost!), you stay in hospital, get taken care of and provided with meals etc. (NO cost!), sent home and if required, other support treatments (NO cost!). Why doesn't America provide for it's people ? It absolutely amazes me ! OH! And before ANY American comes to comment, YES, the majority of people in the UK pay towards the NHS (National Health Service) in taxes. It is a percentage of your earnings and is taken out as 'National Insurance' BUT still ONLY a fraction of what Americans pay in 'Health Insurance Cover'. Everyone is happy to pay 'into the pot', everyone is happy to pay for those who need medical help and everyone knows that 'when' they need medical care of any type, they will get taken care of (without ANY added stress of wondering... 'can I afford it?').

Part of the reason why you dont have college sports anywhere else is because in most other countries university doesnt work like it does in the usa, you dont live in a place where you take general subjects, when you go to uni you just do your degree and nothing else and usually you just commute, this means you might only spend a few hours a week at your uni and being made to do things like gym or classes for credit would be unheard of.

Dental care is free under 18 yo in Finland too and I think getting teeth in straight line as a kid is less harmful than as an adult. It sort of is helped to grow into straight line. Fixing teeth as an adult might make them "loose" or easier to fall. Also whitening teeth too much causes damage to the teeth.

Fun fact, in Finland many student organizations have their own set of red cups solely for playing beer pong, but the cups are washed after every use and reused as many times as possible. @@loners4life The standard plastic cups are just white or clear. But they are realy only used where there is zero trust but you still want to serve drinks. For example for the Confirmation of my daughter I bought 60 stackable glasses in packs of 6 for one Euro per pack so 10 Euro in total. It's a tiny amount of money considering the costs of the whole family party and this way I get to keep and reuse 60 stackable glasses. Would expect people to wander of with their drink link in a school festival set-up or something, then white or clear disposable plastic cups are used....and the will most likely also end up littered in the neighbourhood.

In germany the thing about lawyers is the fact that you do not get arrested so easily for every little thing. I saw a lot of arrests in the media that would just result in a officer writing down your personal data here in germany (it is mandatory to possess and carry a valid photo ID called Personalausweis and is issued by the government). A few weeks later you get your penal order in the mail with the fine you have to pay for your misdemeanor, then you can still appeal for six weeks and look for a lawyer to do so properly. This also extends to Bail, in germany you rarely get held in jail for more then a few days. You must be the suspect of a really violent crime to get detained until trial, if you are no danger to the public and there is not much risk of you trying to flee the country you get released often in less then 2 days without paying bail of course. You are a suspect after all, not a convict. At a party we buy bottled beer and drink out of the bottle. Barbarians might also buy canned beer and drink out of cans ;). Adult parties are rarely more then maybe two dozen people and yes we use glasses for liquor or cocktails then, or just bottles. I am pretty confident that i have not seen a german flag in real life for almost a decade now. Last time was around the soccer world cup in 2014 i think.

Even during some crowded public events like « les fêtes de bayonne » which is packed, bars use those and you will get 1€ if you give the cup back (this way people do give it back or someone else would so that they would get 1€ if they find it in the street, sometimes you will see people carrying a lot of them to have easy money and buy more drinks haha). It is possible to buy hard plastic cups, that can be washed in a dishwasher, when you don't want to use your glas for something like a kids birthday party. But this cups are reusable and not thrown away after one party. In germany mustard is often sold in glases with colourful designs, that are supposed to be used as a drinking glass. As i was a kid most people i know had enough of this mustard glasses for a small or middle range party. I love that the narrator says "Flavoring, preservatives and Ingredients" regarding the canned cheese contents beyond the 51% cheese. Oh "Ingredients" huh? Very descriptive ^^ (yes I realize it must vary between brands and particular flavors of spray cheese but still). Regarding food disposal - Over here in Sweden (at least where I reside) we separate food waste into unbleached paper bags that are then sent to be used in bio-gas production (they let it rot and use the resulting gasses and heat). Where I grew up (I've since moved) it was mainly heat that was then delivered through the county's district heating network. A local factory was also connected to this network and I remember that there were pipes that let us use a gravel football pitch either early or late in the season due to waste heat from the plant also being diverted there. I would assume the remains from the rotting process used in the thermal plant are then further used in other ways, but I can't recall anything beyond much beyond the above. On a less funny note last I heard about two spoonfuls of the water from the river passing the factory complex I mentioned is essentially lethal. Or people said so when I was a teenager at least (20 or so odd years ago). I'd wager many toxins still remain, but there are FAR more rigorous environmental regulations these days.

In Germany we use glasses or just drink from bottles. Also it is custom to have colorful stickers to attach to your glass so you can recognize it after you put it somewhere. You don't take a new glass after finishing what you drank - if needed, you quickly rinse it before refill. For a big party we actually bought glasses from IKEA. Once the party was finished, we sold them online and almost got full price back. You can find glasses, porcellain and cutlery sold a lot online, because it is kinda rude and frowned upon to hand out plastic.

Either u can do your own, or as part of the council recycling/waste collections they’ll collect certain types of food waste to be recycled/composted. If I had a party with more than 10 people I would invite them to a restaurant and pay for food and beverages instead doing all the work myself. And of course at a restaurant you drink from glasses and mugs. We even try to implement a deposit system for those "coffe to go" paper cups with plastic lids and replace them by thermo mugs, but it seems only a few people are ready for this. Using plastic or paper cups is seen as cheap and having no real food culture. They are used at big sports events or concerts. At christmas markets you will have your Glühwein in a mug, pay 5€ deposit and get 5€ back after returning the mug or having payed 5€ for keeping it.

I've only seen garbage disposals in movies, but have never seen them in real life. Didn't know if people really had those or not. Same with collage sports. Something else that I've thought about, but isn't in this clip is stoves. In American movies, they are often with gas. Is this true? I have never actually seen it in Europe, everyone uses electric. The only time I've seen a gas stove is in a country cottage, which lacked electricity and therefore had it.

Although they are rare, some homes in Canada have sink garbage disposals, although we call them "garborators." I have seen the red Solo cups here, but they are not used often at all. People usually drink out of glasses, except kids will be give plastic cups. And, free refills are pretty common here too, depending on where you are.

Seriously no other countries have garbage disposal. In many Australian homes, the food scraps go into a compost bin, to produce rich fertile soil for gardening. This also reduces the amount of food going to land fills.

I'm from Norway, and billboards aren't normal here. And definitely no promotion of lawyers either. That's just weird. It's hilarious that you ahve spray cheese, yet Americans find it weird that we have chees in tubes. Here we're all about recyling, so each waste has their own bin, paper, plastic, food, and everything else. Due to American infleunce teeth whitening has become huge here. I my self was hooked at one point, I even quit smoking, and coffe drinking. The irony is that in pre colonial indigenous cultures white teeh was seen as ugly, as only animals had white teeth, and so they stained them with beetle nuts, so red or black. Also growing up in the 90's and 2000's being an Millennial, again due to American infleunce, they imported prom, but only in junior high, I never went, too much Sweet Sixteen, and the Hills I guess, as well as Halloween and now black friday, which originated in colonial America when selling slaves at the market... so many of your tradiitons are rooted in colonialism, genocie, slavry and ra ism, yet most americans are comepltly unaware, and ignorant of thsi fact. You wanna knowwhy public transport isn't a thing_ because they didn't want any POC from the cities, or poor parts, travel ou to the all white and richer suburbs, why you also have gated communities, bad city planning etc.. Just google it. It's crazy! And yes at parties, still beer bottles, and glasses. Never seen anyone drink from a plastic cup, unless juice or water. Again glasses.

Hey, i'm from portugal, 28yrs. And no, i've never seen ur red cups anywhere besides on movies, at big parties we do use plastic/ paper or sometimes metal cups, the thing is that there is no "standard" of cup, size/colour/etc varies everytime. I don't know if this makes any difference but usually below 12-15 people we use glasses instead of cups. Basicly if with friends then we use glasses if it's a public party then we use plastic cups

We don't actually need advertising for lawyers, especially since many lawsuits are not even possible or unsuccessful (like the famous example with McDonald's coffee). In addition, the majority of our claims for damages and compensation for pain and suffering are rather modest and only go into the million areas in exceptional cases. Also means that these lucrative cases are not common here. Spray cheese, I mean, you hardly ever have real cheese, so it doesn't matter anymore. Cheese, actually a natural product, makes me wonder what all goes into making it work in a spray can. Black Friday, something that some department stores and discounters have been trying to introduce for years, but so far it has not really caught on. Well, there is actually nothing wrong with the national flag and by the way, many Swiss flags are also hoisted here (although not quite as often as in the USA), a sign that you love your country; only, does the country love you too?

I am living in country where I can get braces for free, any dentist treatment for free as well, but I never get anything extra like braces, because I could care less about it. Natural teeth are generally not white. Whether in humans or animals. This is simply due to the mineral composition of the tooth enamel. Even small amounts of other minerals (which can also be stored in the tooth enamel) lead to a color deviation. The thickness of the enamel also plays a role, since the actual basic structure of a tooth is the dental bone. And bones are not white, which can sometimes be seen through tooth enamel.

No, Germany has neither ads for lawyer, nor for doctors, as the idea of promoting a necessary issue, like the right for health or the right for your right doesn't makes sense. At the same time, the payment for doctors and lawyers are regulated, so what would be the advantage of one lawyer instead of the other? The only ads lawyers or medics could make, are ads to get new employees or just the information, that they will move to a new address. Also medicine that needs a prescription is not adverted for. Why? Your doctor will know what you need, as you regularely go to your doctor. He also know what is not for you, as you may have an allergy. Of course is dental health a part of the health and if you are insured or you have access to the NHS, needed dental corrections are just health care needs. Parties: if you make a party of 60 people, it depends where you do this. If you go to a certain place, as you booked a little bar in a "Kleingartenverein" or may one family has a big cellar bar, you have glasses their. If you go to the beach you probably will take the drinks in small bottles. If someone wants to have something usually sold in bigger bottles like vine or liquor, you may have glasses for this, or you may also get paper or plastic cups. Sometimes people also have multiple use plastic cups. We try to avoid single use things as good as we can, an while plastic plates, knives and cups where often in use twenty years ago, it becomes very uncommon now. And if you still use these, it is more often from paper or bamboo, than plastic. Just for the environment. You know, this thing outside the US.

@@hullmees666 No, the NHS provides free healthcare. Every British citizen has access to it no matter what they do, even if they are unemployed and do not contribute towards it in taxes like employed people do. Health insurance does not exist at all in the UK (and many other countries) as the NHS provides free healthcare for all no matter how much it costs them, therefore insurance is not required

@@ipolarisi2381 not completely correct as health insurance does exist in the UK. But you can still get free healthcare without it using the NHS. Healthcare insurance is for those who want to get quicker access, choice of location/medical staff, private rooms, access to certain drugs/treatments not usually available to NHS patients, and of course dentistry & other medical needs. Not strictly required but there are plenty who do indeed purchase it.

The video is not totally accurate. I live in Australia 1. We have medical and lawyer ads. "We will fight to get you the most compensation!" lol 2. Kitchen garbage disposals aka Insinkarators are available though not common 3. Black Friday and Cyber Monday exists and relatively big events. And his explanation for black name origin is wrong. It's because some stores only become profitable for the year after the volume of sales on black friday. Hence going from red to black.

Regarding the free refills, that's just for soda drinks which are basically water + sugar, so it's extremely cheap to offer for free. But these free refills may actually be one of the causes for the obesity rates in the US. Some countries like France have banned by law the free refills and the obesity rate was reduced after the ban. So there's something to think about...

Number 1 is untrue. Some medical adds are 100% on both Dutch and German tv channels. In case of Germany, you get a screen at the end, which is an explicit warning to check with your family doctor, the harmful side effects etc. In The Netherlands it is only minor over the counter meds, like ibuproven, cough syrops, etc nothing that can be addictive or very harmful. But none the less those adds definitely do exist, as I see them regularly. The Dutch have great cheese as well. Where does one think Gouda comes from ?? But spray cheese ??? How much of it is cheese, versus chemicals ?? Nope, we don't use garbage disposals in the EU as we recycle loads. Here in NL the basic recycling is paper/plastics (disposable versus refundable)/green (from garden to orange peels)/glass (deposable [by colour] versus refundable)/clothes/small electronics/large electronics [when buying say a washing machine, the company you buy it from needs to take the old one back]/small chemicals/batteries/light bulbs/ and a few more. So why the x does one need a garbage disposal unit ??? Whenever I am at a party or giving a party, it is glass never plastic or paper cups !!! Sorry Linda, but no way would I go for solo cups or the like. Linda, you know where you are. Ever seen any Fleccas Talks videos about Gen-Z ?? Stating things like Mount Rushmore being in Japan, or not knowing that in Idaho people speak English ??? I guess those people do need a reminder of where they are.

Here in the netherlands, i have only once seen a party were plastic cups were used and that was an american themed party, but aside from that it is nearly always glass ,sometimes wood or ceramics. This is for a few reasons: 1. Cheaper and more conveniant to just have glasses etc that are resusable after just some cleaning. Most of the glasses will be used in daily life anyway. 2. Its more environmentally friendly, only some use this argument. 3. Being able to buy so many plastic cups is not as easy as just buying glasses. Not all conveniance stores sell plastic cups.
