I think the media is partially to blame. We are told how "bad" we are almost daily. We catch some blame after every mass shooting or racially-motivated act of violence. And, judging by my 20-something grandchildren, too many college and university professors push that narrative. My granddaughter said blame and shame for the USA's "multitude of shortcomings" are crammed down her throat 3 days a week, during a humanities class. She's beginning to believe there is no goodness in America and only sinister motives behind displays of patriotism.

I think the news and social media has an agenda against certain peoples...it's cancel culture, virtue signaling, xenophobia racial bs... it's the divide and conquer technique of the enemy aka global elites....the 'all white men are bad' agenda, ' the white supremacy 'bs being rammed down white peoples throats.... giving the younger Caucasian generations an inferiority complex and making Caucasians feel bad for bring born white. Add to it the gender confusion...deceptions, lies and erosion of freedoms and liberties that were once enjoyed. Getting whammied in several directions...by the big global agenda....theres a literal attack being played upon the white race at present and against americans cause they are freedom fighters and stand for constitution rights that are presently being striped away from them...as are the western nations as well. Is that racist...no...just the plain overall Truth!!! It's the tactic of the enemy...divide, isolate and conquer. A divided house can not stand..and the enemy is also playing the 'race card' too. Also ethnic against ethnic...and if that don't work..wars and rumours of wars... divide and scare the living day lites outta each other....the piling up of many calamities to overwhelm the people's too. The ebemy is projecting lots of fear porn too via news abd socisl media as well. A multifaceted agenda in play at present...tshf scenerio could also well be possible. All hell breaking loose it sounds like it too.

I'm Asian American. During my mid-year performance review 2 weeks ago, my non-Asian manager brought up the recent Asian hate crimes and asked me about my well-being. I was pleasantly surprised. The media often has a negative bias when it comes to reporting. We often ignore the good and focus too much on the bad. Racial tensions are going to exist anywhere. That's a fact. However, we as a nation should not overlook the progress we made.
@Cecil97

as an Asian, I don't like them calling it Asian hate crime. If you hate racism toward white people, then you should know better than to bring race into the conversation when it's not needed, not welcomed or irrelevant. Problem with today's age is everything there is always getting filmed, such as Police brutality, Riots, Protests and Karens, etc, and it puts this idea to ppl outside the US as if it is the most racist country in the world when not really. Imagine if the rest of the world had issues like this getting filmed 24/7 like the US, I assure you it'll make the US look insanely safe in comparison

@willsweat5413 2 жыл бұрын
@@_jmeg_3436 ; Fair question and to be honest, given my comment was seven months ago, I wouldn't use the term "tear down" today. What I'd say is any person that lacks the perspective to understand the amazing nation we have is sadly mislead. America has elected and appointed more minorities (ethnic, gender) to positions of power than any nation on this earth. Our laws and human rights protections are well settled via the court. I imagine my point was (and is) that we as Americans ought to have a bit more respect for how much progress our nation has made and that we truly are a unique and special society that has become a beacon for the world. Its tragic, IMO, that we have a great number of Americans who seem to never take stock in just how good we are, in general but would rather find fault and beat our nation down. Guess my life experience has given me a chance to see other nations and that's given me a deeper appreciation. I've challenged my kids to read Alexis de Tocqueville’s "Democracy in America" to gain an understand of our need for a basic social contract with one another. In truth Tocqueville was almost prophetic in warning against the desires of people when he wrote; "...most especially in the present democratic times, that the true friends of the liberty and the greatness of man ought constantly to be on the alert to prevent the power of government from lightly sacrificing the private rights of individuals to the general execution of its designs. At such times no citizen is so obscure that it is not very dangerous to allow him to be oppressed; no private rights are so unimportant that they can be surrendered with impunity to the caprices of a government (Democracy in America, Vol. II, Ch. VII). Anyhow, hope that answers your question. Have a great day!

But, in comparison to other first world countries, America is falling a bit behind. Prison population and healthcare can be better for a country who claims to be there best. I think being able to vocalize is what makes waves and change. It's the reason why my parents came here. I agree that there's lots of minor topics drowning out the major topics. My biggest complaint most days is how healthcare is crippling here compared to back in Taiwan. I really hope some changes are made so our current and future generations can call an ambulance without crippling debt. This video is so spot on. I'm Canadian and have lived and worked in Japan, South Korea and Thailand for well over a decade altogether, plus traveling to a good number of other countries. In addition to America, following the Canadian media or listening to many Canadians, you would think the country is positively infested with racism. Most of these people have seldom left their bubbles to live abroad and have NO idea what kind of ideas about race and deep-seated insider/outsider thinking exist in much of the world. I love much about all the places I've lived for what they are, and I mean to say nothing negative about the people there, but the fact of the matter is that, alongside the U.S., modern Canada is by far one of the most tolerant, inclusive countries in the world. I think it's just as important to recognize and appreciate that fact while still pointing out, exploring and rightfully condemning true acts of racism when they occur.

I think its because US and Canada deal with their racism and the rest of the world largely doesn't need to. We kind of get it brow beaten out of us, unfortunately it leaves progressively less racist people thinking they are more racist than the rest of the world and vice-versa. It all paradoxically leaves everyone confused. I imagine there is a better course we could chart, certainly. South Korea, at least seems, to do better than most, but they're also the most connected to America. You tell me I've never been there. Japan is very hospitable but only for about a year, which is when you have overstayed your guest status. I do believe Christianity also helps because it spans many demographics (no preferred race, except Judah) and people in general tend to fall into amoral value sets that make it difficult to establish reliable standards. Often Christianity is at its best when under persecution, it can become as privledged as anyone. Everyone is trying to please someone usually whoever bears the greatest influence or power. I.E. the Kardashians or God or something in-between.

@@jasonw598 Yes I understand. I'm sorry if I sounded harsh. I am a middle age only child taking care of my adult and single parents...so of course I can't do it alone. I had to lawyer up. The sheer amount of paperwork at the end of life when one is the least able is awful. If it were not for me at least one of my parents would have been in a nursing home already....and we all know what happened there in the past year in New York State. Well, if you don't know already our Govenor Cuomo sent people infected with covid into the nursing homes and it killed a lot of elderly people....who were also denied the presence of their families in their final days. But hey why should we complain about that? Cuomo is a criminal bastard and he blew it. And Winston is kicking us when we are down, after this awful year, when so many mistakes were made, we SHOULD be complaining.....or it will just happen again...in the next pandemic. It was all totally mishandled. So many people died who didn't have to. More people died in America than any other country. Remember in the begining when they told us "masks don't work" WTF!!! and Winston is calling us winers??!! Our government let us down! I guess Winston would have us STFU and not fix our system... A few of them being crime, secondary education, and taxes. I have visited and/or lived in 4 different countries and the US is easily the most dangerous country I've ever lived in. I just started your video, and I agree 110% .... as an American. I wish more folks would put this topic out. Americans won't listen to Americans bringing it up a great deal of the time, but hearing it from someone in another country, or from one? Yeah, that hits harder.. And many need a slap in the face. Every society has problems, but compared to the rest of the world.. we're doing great, even WITH things being insane right now. And on violence.. I feel anyone saying America is more violent than South Africa knows absolutely NOTHING about the topic. Unfortunately, ignorance tends to fuel a great deal of the bitching.. We're shown how violent WE are, but never shown the reality of other places. Just the pretty side of those. Also, I am PROUD to be an American. We can pull through, and we will. First off, thank you for your candid thoughts and helpful insight into life “abroad” (from an American’s POV). Being an American and primarily interacting with Americans I find that my brethren place Americans and American issues at the top. Better put, if we view ourselves/country as great, we’re the “greatest” - if bad, we’re the worst. An odd dichotomy, if it can be called that. As most likely stated by others in this comment section few American know anything about the plight of other humans on this planet, since most never learn, nor never care about anything outside our boarders (for we are ever so insulted and ignorant of the greater world). I love my country and all its faults because we try [collectively via government and culture] to be better (a strange burden, nay responsibility) than any other nation - to be better than our past, to be a beacon of hope. But when so many live in a bubble (insular Americana) they can only see the petty issues in front of them. Obviously the issue is oh, so complex, but a lack of understanding about the way the world can really be, and is, for so many is the root of the problem (IMHO). Thanks again for sharing your insights and personal wisdom. Safe safe and “stay awesome”.

I call it the Pain Contest. We here in the US grow up on a diet of what is called "perseverance porn," the hardest and worst stories are thrown in our face, slanted to an angle of "they rose above their circumstances, why haven't you? You don't deserve anything you have unless you bleed for it." Those who admit the lack of adversity in their lives are seen as somehow lesser than or unworthy of attention. It's really weird. It even leaks into normal conversation. If one person admits they've been having a bit of a hard time, it immediately becomes a competition as to who has it the worst.

I find it infuriating when Americans constantly put the U.S. down. As an American that has had relatives old and young defend this country. It genuinely hurts my heart when I think about all the young men, black white hispanic Asian, that fought and died on foreign soil at 19-20 years old, scared and a million miles from home, so we can remain free. All the young men that fought in WW1, WW2, Korean War, Vietnam, Iraq or Afghanistan and were so PROUD TO BE AMERICAN regardless of race and gladly defended our country. Ive seen outside America, not as much as I would like, but the standard of living in America is very very high. These people that whine and moan about America should go and see how it is everywhere else. Also, just a little side note.. I dont know what it is in our food that just puts weight on your body. Ive heard this from multiple Americans that went to another country for a significant amount of time and said they ate like pigs and actually lost weight only to come back to America and put a ton of weight back on immediately. I often wonder if this has to do with all the hormones and preservatives in the food.

@michz9304

I disagree, I don't agree that you should compare Canada to a country like the Philippines that is known for its corruption, and where injustices are the norm. Canada is an OECD country. We should compare Canada to other countries with high standards in education, health, worker's rights etc. We should educate immigrants about all their rights when they move to Canada, and similar countries, because unfortunately, some companies abuse incoming immigrants and pay them less, expect them to take fewer vacations and breaks and work longer hours and take on more workload, which they do because it is still a better deal than they were getting in their home country and then this affects the standard of living of the rest of Canadians. We should set ourselves to higher standards. Obviously if you complain your whole life you will be miserable, and you should practice gratitude, but if something is not working in your country you should be an active citizen and try to make a change in any way you can, rather than just complain and do nothing about it. This is just my perspective as another Canadian. I feel like the lower we set our standards, the more companies and governments abuse the people and start taking away services and our rights, until we're "grateful" we have a loaf of bread to eat.
