If I'm enrolled in college taking music classes, should I get my degree first then audition for the navy band? I've been playing the clarinet since 6th grade and am a sophomore in college.

I hope you got in the Navy by now but you can get your degree first or you can Straight up audition and see if you can get picked up.

I play F Horn, but I would much rather sing bass! Are there auditions for vocalist initially or must you do instrumental first?

Hi there, you don't have to start with instrumental. Just watch out for an audition for singing bass and go for it!

I wanted to be a vocalist because I been in church all my life singing in the choir and praise dancing but ion have no resume so now I'm between legalman and Master at Arms💁💁😂😂

Yes but they are in a separate division and they're bootcamp experience is much different and easier than the average sailor

Upon completion of initial 7-9 week Recruit Training (known as Boot Camp), those pursuing a Musician role report to the Armed Forces School of Music in Little Creek, Va., where they receive formal Navy training at “A” School for 21 weeks. Here, they develop a working knowledge of performing in concert bands, marching bands, stage bands and small specialty ensembles. *I got this straight from the website of the navy*

In the Navy you do your job do you think a person that is a musician is going to be on the front lines no he's going to do music. A Nuclear engineer is a nuclear engineer. Now if you become a Navy Seal thats Different you chose that path so that is what you would so as a Seal go on missions and so on.

What a complete waste of Navy assets and billets! We sit in places like A-stan and see the bands come out to try and get hazard pay by playing a concert. Or worse that God awful AFN commercial for the Sea Chanters where the literally brag about "doing 20 years in Washington at the same unit". Do you guys realize how much hate and discontent that "tone deaf" statement stirred up among actual deployed sailors doing real work hearing some Glee club poser talking about being posted in the capital of Hawaii their entire career?! 600 MU's in the navy could be replaced by I-Pods!

@@tonysolis9616 When was the last time you saw the Navy Band play a service member's funeral? Outside of Arlington? Well? Most of the time it is a VFW of other service orgs taking care of it. Again TOTAL waste of money!
