I do remember Bismuth saying to her, "Not every Amethyst has a weapon like this." Also I've seen how Jasper's face was shocked for one second when she got whipped in the face, like she experienced a whip by an agate long ago, maybe during when she broke out of the Earth's crust Holley Blue's was all electricity and would possibly do worse damage to gems than the destabilization weapon Jasper used on Garnet.

I like your theory on the whip. Geologically, Amethyst and Agates are more similar than you might think. Amethysts are formed in Geodes, but when a Geode completely fills in with crystal it is called an Agate.

I think when the Famethyst defects, our little Amethyst will be the Commander of the Amethyst Army. The Famethyst cant stay aligned with Homeworld forever!! They're treated like dirt!

Also, Peridot made the comment that Amethyst should be the leader. It was a backhanded compliment meant to insult the other Crystal Gems, but if you're right, which I'm inclined to believe, it could be a lot more significant than that. Amethyst is a pretty great character. I HATED her when I first started watching, but around "Reformed" I started to see her a bit differently, and she's definitely grown as a gem and as a person. She's still not by any means one of my favorite characters, but I really appreciate her development. She feels real.

I really, REALLY want Amethyst, (redeemed) Jasper and the Zoo Quartzes to live on Earth end-game. It would be beautiful for them to go back and reside on the planet they were made on.

And look at the fusion difference between Garnet and Amethyst "I forgot how grate it feels to be me" And between Pearl, who mentioned in the previous video, is more tied to home world alike with Garnet. Amethyst is a young earth gem. She's not taken seriously yet, and I can't wait until she is taken seriously when she rises up. Garnet and Amethyst fusion also said to Pearl; Pear: "You're just too much" Sugilite: "Maybe you're just to little" [mind you, she's talking to a pearl status gem tied to home world and is earth bound, but who did pearl belong to all this time? Who did she want to belong to? All of our beloved gems are rebellious in spirit] Which may stem from three short gems fused together (the building blocks) to make a powerful big gem, but really that sounds like something a deep cut gem would say once they get bigger. [Or, maybe a Ruby, fundamentally by physical size in relation to our deep cut gym? Could size be a way extra muscle Amethyst and a guard, a protective brute, a loyal force, a Ruby bond with a deep cut commander Amethyst?] Fundamentally all gems have the potential to build off of one another, just as people do. They can destroy sacred building blocks, no wonder pearl really said what she did. [foreshadowing symbolism in visual detail of a building; in relation to the building blocks of rebellious gyms and home world, of which pearl is probably most attached to an affected by arguably as displayed in her character] No wonder it impacted Sapphire and Gernet's fusion when pearl got upset. Those three gems are powerful, you have Sapphire and Ruby, who when introduced, are two separate gems fulfilling their role and abilities to function under rule of the Diamonds. And Amethyst is the earth gym fusion, and maybe Pearl is right. Maybe they are "just too much" as the building blocks to "freakish might" [Amethyst wasn't made to have the relationship that made Garnet, she was created outside that rule, although connected as a gem herself which left room for story to develop. And one day, Sugilite became a fusion of three gems, which isn't stable right now, but maybe it can be once Amethyst develops into her authoritative role with the ability to command. I'd like to see Sugilite then.] With Ruby's fists, Sapphire's future vision, and Amethyst potential and rarity with her whip as a commanding gym. (I want to see steven's passion, and pearl's internal strictness become a giant woman, just like their home. All in balance and maxing potential as a group working together for a single shared purpose with collaborated strengths.) Pearl has the role of a pearl by a diamond, and is more internally strict, unlike Amethyst. Which is why Sardonyx is so different from Sugilite between the balanced fusion of Sapphire and Ruby. "The perfect relationship/bond" And Steven is the glue, like his mom.

I like the idea of Amethyst being the leader to the Famethyst, but I don't want her to be mean and menacing and literally whip her sisters into place. I'd rather see Jasper do that.

I never noticed that subtle little detail with Jasper and Amethyst's fight, but yeah, as soon as I saw Holly Blue's whip and remembered Bismuth's line "not every quartz can make a whip like this" I knew our little deep-cut had something special in her future.

This makes so much sense! I think I want Amethyst and the Gems to rescue the humans and the earth gems in the zoo as much as Slice wants those rubies rescued. But leaving those rubies floating around in space is definitely not cool!

THE REASON WHY ROSE BETRAYED HOMEWORLD: After seen the diamonds, I realise, the diamonds know how to sing and their pearls, as confidents, do too. I think, the diamonds know about their individuality, which make them different from other gems. The diamonds are specials, and they can decide what to do without anybody else telling them. We see Yellow telling Blue to move on with their lives, but Blue is not redy. What I see is two complex characters struggling with the past, present, future, and more important with feelings. What Im saying is that the diamonds are reflections of humans. Moreover, the diamonds are the leaders because of their self awareness (Same as humans). The diamonds know their potential. Rose realise the same potential lies on humanity, or even more. she realise the fragile humans were just as the diamonds and came to the conlution that if creatures as humans have that potential, why she couldnt. She fought against homeworld not because of humans themself but to protect what she believed were the prove diamonds are not unique. After the war, when she got to know humans, she felt in love with their self liberty, self potential, and the notion of posibilities. Rose wanted what humans were, She moved on into becoming something else she wasnt meant to be (Steven). Diamons like humans (Greg/Blue). Diamosns uniqueness (know how to sing not like others (Peridot)). Diamons individuality (Yellow cant tell Blue what to do (only suggestions of what she should do)).

I friggin love the idea of Amethyst leading a group of soldiers that has been pretty mistreated by the diamonds and by their commander into battle. That would be so. friggin. cool.

Another very, very interesting correlation between Holly Blue and Amethyst is that in the real world, Agates are often found in the layers of gem that encase a (generally Amethyst) geode.

This steven bomb was SO important, the crystal gems have ALLIES on home-world!!! ALLIES!!! And if they unbubble the rose quartz, even more allies! (you could say the rose quartz would be mad at the crystal gems but I think they wouldn't because of how they are "programmmed")

I love the music you chose for this video, and the subject matter about Amethyst's whip and the symbolism it maintains in Homeworld standards brought a tear to my eye. I have never thought too deeply into that weapon she has, but now I will be looking back to see what else I missed about her. Thank you once again!

Before watching this video: Me and some of my friends think amethyst gems are meant to come in groups (they're "clique-y", and amethyst was very upset being the only one of her kind she's met, she became extremely happy to have a "family" and was also okay with including Jasper in said family). We also think Amethyst (CG one) is a platoon leader due to her whip (Bismuth commented on its rarity), her comments about her personal need for direct fighting being minimal, and her independent personality. I think she is either an agate that was too irradiated/cut wrong (if that's how gems work), or simply a high-rank individual that was unfortunately made wrong. EDIT: I guess I'm not alone! And it would be so awesome if she became the leader of her "sisters."

I would LOVE to see Amethyst fight Holly Blue. In my point of view, due to Agate's mistreatment towards the amethysts, it seems like Amethyst has found her true worst enemy. Someone who is more harmful than Jasper.

It would be great to see Amethyst as a commander. I personally don't think she's quite there yet or will be for a while if left to her own devices. But necessity is the mother of invention and steel has to be tempered before it can become a weapon.

I found it interesting that Peridot had so much respect for Amethyst. She said she was the best crystal gem (though compared to a servant, a hybrid and an "abomination") and even said she should be the one in charge, but then Holly Blue Agate treated the other amethysts like crap. Also what about Carnelian? it seemed weird that they'd toss her in like that

this helps aline with my theory that crystal amethyst was originally made to be a part of or maybe guard white diamond/her court.(this had been based solely on her color scheme)

I actually like how you pointed out how the whip scared Jasper. It's nice to see the show (very subtly) show that abuse/power manipulation stays with even the strongest of people. All it takes is for the person to completely recognize it's not the same as the abuser to really change the impact. I hope this concept is brought up again in a future episode, maybe Amethyst getting angry/upset and bringing up her whip and having other gems be scared of it. I would love to see an open discussion with Amethyst seeing that whips could bring up bad memories for other gems. Maybe she would even be more conscious of how she uses and helps said gem with their fears.

I think overcooked gems are able to regenerate much faster after poofing which has been hinted at through Amethyst. Hopefully, we'll able to see Amethyst take advantage of this and turn her "weakness" into a hidden strength.

Before anyone comments or replies anything rude to me I don't hate amethyst. And this is actually one of my favorite characters. Okay so amethyst isn't all that great after all she did traumatize Greg and Steven by turning into rose just to laugh about it.

I theorize that after they pop out of the ground, gems are sent to a sort of training camps, run by agates, where they beat them with whips if they step out of line. and I will hunt down the agate that whipped peridot and shatter her.

I suspect that Amethyst was meant to be the Famethysts commander, but she was "overcooked" in her hole making her shorter and come out late.

I can tell they are kinda alike because, When Holly blue agate pulls out her lightning whip, I can already tell there's a relation, Amethyst's whip has tiny amethyst crystals on it. And Holly blue agate has lightning on it. There is a little different Only the colors and type. Now since a whip is such a rare weapon to Quartz soldiers, Amethyst is one of a kind and so is Holly blue agate. Now, why did the "Creator" of Steven Universe make Holly blue agate's weapon so similar to Amethyst's weapon? Here's my theory on why: 1. They had no ideas in mind so they decided to make it related to Amethyst's whip. 2. They wanted to see if any fans see if it resembles the whip of Amethyst's 3. They just wanted to make it a simple weapon as people with whips are "The leader" type. 4. Just used amethyst's whip for a template for Holly blue agate's weapon. So yea just my answers.

Amethyst is my favorite. She reminds me of a social outcast and she thought of herself being a parasite to other gems. She thought Steven was actually stronger than her and she grieved over the loss of Rose (not only Pearl guys). When she met the other Amethysts she realized they accepted her as "Amethyst" and that what makes Famethyst so special

+SliceofOtaku Holy crap dude, mind blown! This analysis makes total sense! It comes full circle back to the episode "Too Far" in Season 2, where Peridot had jokes on everyone. She's laughing, and then she goes on to say to Amethyst, "haha the strangest thing is you think YOU have to listen to them (Pearl/Garnet)...you're the one who should be in charge!" By Homeworld's standards Amethyst, had she grown to full size, outranks all the Crystal Gems and should be the one cracking the whip.

That is why bismuth said not all quarts can do her skill

of course I'm hoping for the amethyst and peridot fusion, BUT as for the famethyst, you're right about how she'd be the oerfect advocate to lead them as new crystal gems. something I see happening in amethyst's future development is going to be something like learning more about Jasper and even more about other amethysts and what they did not relating to her development, we're definitely gonna learn more about pink diamond.

I like this theory and I can definitely agree that because they're so similar to each other, our Amethyst can be the rebel quartz to lead the Famethyst. If this ever happens this could serve as HUGE character development for her as she's never been the one to lead and take charge. She would be able to experience what it's like to be a leader and allow the Famethyst to enjoy more freedom and come more into terms with their own identity, separate from always following Holly Blue's orders and trying to conform with Homeworld's standards.

The line that interests me is "Why do you employ the, subjects that destroyed her?" Blue doesn't employ any rose quartz gems that we have seen? Only watches over them.

I just hope she fuses with Lapis and her weapon is a fish net. Hear me out, the whip can be used as the string and it would be a fish net cause of the whole water theme going on. And they could use it in traps.

ahhh! it would make sense if Jasper were redeemed that she would teach Amethyst a lot of the potential she truly does have, when Jasper's mind is more open to the fact that a smaller Amethyst is not necessarily beneath her. She's seen some of the potential Amethyst has, even though she doesn't fully realize it yet, or doesn't want to admit it. She knows why Amethyst having a whip was startling, and can one day see that they share the same traits of never giving up.

Holly blue agate is like a gem version of umbridge

This reminds me of how Peridot says in "Too far" how Amethyst should be leading the crystal gems. She says this is because of how Pearl was a pearl and Garnet's a fusion, but I believe your theory could come in play with that.

Don't forget that when Peridot was talking to her she said that Amethyst was the highest ranking Crystal Gem, that could have been foreshadowing.

Perhaps amethyst is some experimental variation breed of amethyst, made to be a leader, But one very like her soldiers so she could relate to them and thus keep them in line easier but it didn’t work right
