What’s wrong with all this companies developing calendar apps that only support Google Calendar? God, they invested time into the Spotify integration but not into Exchange/Outlook support.

Its very easy API so the get fast going. Microsoft is way harder. But I also hate the google only focus bc easy - its so dumb

That’s why I can’t use most of these. I do not use Google and nearly all of them only work with it. By the time they bring support for other email services, I’ve lost interest.

I just wish they could add iCal and reminders integration soon. Also tasks that auto schedule in a chosen timespan after they are marked as done.

This would change the apps I use too. I use Things for tasks but I use Reminders for a shared list with my wife. I then can see, for example, that I need to buy snacks for my kids field trip within Fantastical as it integrates with Reminders.

I'm actually a huge fan of everything being based around a calendar, since everything is technically based on time. The ability to either integrate or add as a feature; tasks (not necessarily focused on time as much as actions), emails, and notes - I think is a total win, done well.

"It makes more sense for an email app to add a calendar, then for a calendar app to add email." That's astute, and interesting to me because I ultimately concluded the same thing about task managers and calendars. I do have separate calendar, email, and todo app (Things 3). Each one is powerful and good at what it does. But, when I'm actively working on projects, the simple calendar view at the top of Things 3 is all I need for calendar. I don't need my full-blown calendar app, any more than I need email-unless the task involves email. So for me I'd say, it makes more sense for my task manager to have a simple calendar, then for my calendar app to have a less-than-stellar task manager.

Me sumo a esta opinión. El enfoque es parte esencial del sistema de trabajo productivo. Tener correos, tareas y calendarios juntos es una invitación a salirse del correo que debes ver, de la tarea que debes hacer o del evento a programar o revisar. Y, si alguien puede hacer todo a la vez y ser productivo genial, pero no creo que sea el "caso común".

As someone who is building something very similar in the space I completely agree with this comment and have found similar sentiment from users A lot of the features requests I get are all about the task management side of things and I very rarely get calendar improvement requests

Which 3 apps do you use? I use Things 3 and Google Calendar but I am thinking of deleting my Google calendars because when I edit recurring events within Fantastical or Apple Calendar, it duplicates the event, and I can’t delete events. I have to keep going into Google Calendar to edit them.

I hate when apps hide their pricing plans behind the login, absolutely no reason to do that unless you have regional pricing (which you can still show by letting the user choose their location). To me that basically screams "we don't really trust that our product/landing page is good enough to convince you yet, but you'll be a bit more invested once you create the account and more likely to subscribe". For me, that's a big no - once I see that the app hides their pricing behind the login, I'm not even going to consider creating an account. Also, it seems to be primarily a macOS/iOS calendar app that doesn't come with support for Apple's Calendar... weird.

This app looks so slick. Love the idea of integrations like appe health and music. Make the calendar a journal like experience. That price is crazy though. Also, an email client too? Strange. Ditch the email. Reduce the price.

The iOS app hit the note for me with the split card view for tasks and calendar. Makes it very easy to flesh out ideas and see my day, bridging the gap between the two. Other apps do this, but not in this way

Went to the webpage and it was extremely slow. Also, looking into the privacy , in the FAQ they say E2E encryption is planned, so it is not E2E right now, if understanding it correctly. With all the integrations possible, this then is a no-no for me.

What I think about all of these calendars, is that Mac users don't need any of them, as any booking or activity can be done in their in build app, works like a charm, has push notifications, syncs between all your devices and all you need, and you don't have to pay a thing, or use another app...

Looks great and has good features, but the price is incredibly ridiculous. Why should anyone pay those prices on an unproven, unfinished app compared to many others which are, at a cheaper cost?

Cause you believe in them and trust that they can build a much better product to help you do your stuff. The price isn't the only factor. It's very well designed. And they cannot do much without money. Also if you looked at their pricing in the app you would discover that they have Parity Pricing which makes it much more affordable for many countries. Not to mention that the app is basically free. The Pro thing adds email and you're "first" to get the new features which is just a way to support the developers if you want.

I agree with another comment here talking about how all these new apps only have integration with Google Calendar. And I will add my other ick. Any trace of "we are a team from California/NYC" will 99% make me avoid them LOL.

I feel like theres just no need to make the switch to a different calendar app when the stock can do everything most people need. No need for a solution when you dont face any problems

Out of these three probably Notion Calendar. Amie seems too expensive for a university student. You could also consider Fantastical.

So it’s right now an Apple app, but it doesn’t integrate with iCal? That makes no sense, however Amie is not alone in that respect. The free version of Morgen gives you just one calendar integration, but at least they let you choose between google or iCal. Routine free only lets you integrate with Google, but says iCal is coming. A fair amount of the apps seem to favor Google, but I, like many, don’t want to be forced into big brother Google.

The fact that Amie allow Things 3 integration is a big deal :D All the other calendars doesn’t support it :(

The app has a beautiful design!!! but functionality is minus basic, and the price is high (very). Integration must be two-way. Otherwise, it is not useful, and no one will jump to a new app. For people seeking such an app, Morgen is a better choice, although it requires further development (like many other apps).
