That's one thing Amira has in spades - courage! To tackle such a difficult aria when , as when she aged 9 in the final 10 years before and sang Nessun Dorma, and now aged 19, the expectations on her were enormous and any nervousness could have damaged her performance... but she came out and produced this.. and as you said... still the Amira we met 10 years ago.. respecting her talent but the same down to earth young woman.. It will be amazing to watch her grow into her fully mature voice in the coming decade.. I'm betting her voice will retain its distinctive ring.. and be always recognizable.

Merci pour votre analyse, cette vidéo est décidément une pure merveille à regarder... Dans cet aria d'Alfredo Catalani, qui termine le premier acte, La Wally se déclare décidée à partir errer dans les montagnes du Tyrol plutôt que d'épouser le prétendant imposé par son père. L'opéra se termine d'ailleurs sur une avalanche, bref c'est plutôt dramatique. Comme vous le dites, ce morceau de bravoure est loin d'être évident, et les spécialistes se disputent toujours pour savoir qui l'a le mieux chanté, de Maria Callas ou de Renata Tebaldi... Amira doit se contenter ici de deux couplets, mais elle a interprété l'intégralité de l'aria lors d'un somptueux concert en solo à Piketberg, près du Cap, en août dernier. Actuellement, elle suit des études de musique à Prétoria tout en continuant à faire des performances régulièrement. Comme son niveau de départ est déjà impressionnant, on ne peut qu'espérer encore mieux pour la suite, et ce serait certes merveilleux de pouvoir l'écouter en France... 😊

Merci beaucoup Ah la célèbre controverse Callas /Tebaldi ! ☺ En France on a eu l'incroyable Mado Robin également ! Quant à Amira, ses études musicales lui permettront sans doute de s'impliquer davantage dans la lecture des oeuvres qu'elle interprète, par contre, bien qu'elle ait sans doute un coach vocal, comme elle avait eu petite après HGT, sa voix est désormais faite, elle elle va nous ravir encore et encore avec ce don de la nature !

I like to watch your videos of Amira. A side benefit is, it helps my French! Listening, and reading the subtitles. . A lot of fans love Amira, I do. Her talent, her humanity, generosity, humour. Her confidence, built on her faith. It makes a wonderful package. There is a full length video of this, posted by Christopher Ott, that includes Amira talking about her life in Africa. I don't know if you edited that bit out or posted a shorter version you'd found. Dan Keraty is an American, described as a choreographer online. Netherlands ( La paye bas ) is better than Holland. Holland is just one province of the country. I don't know if you have the cd or better still, the dvd of Amira's 18th birthday concert, titled On my own, but she closed that show with this aria. It's a little longer because she had to cut it short for this HGT TV show. It'd be nice to see more of the songs from the 18th birthday show on You Tube, but it would reduce the incentive to buy from her webshop. Thank you for posting Amira again. Always a joy. Au revoir.

Thank you Andrew ! I always correct my own subtitles first in french, it's a pity when I understand 50% of a bad translation, too much youtubers don't care about that ! About Amira, the link of the original video is always in the description, with official chanels of the singer, and my other Chanel of course 🤗... I didn't get the CD you talk about, I have another, more old. About HGT (Holland... 😬), we can understand why it is a short version... But our hearts would prefer more longer !

The question is whether she has a future in opera. Few of us here are qualified to say. What say the opera cognoscente, the formal gatekeepers? Is she attending a conservatory of good repute that would guide her toward an opera career?

She still has not given one single opera performance in an opera context, not even a strict classical performance in a classical context. The closest she done is singing in small churches a couple of times. She still is a classical crossover artist who has not the standard operatic technique required for serious classical-opera. So the connosseiurs, which includes me will tell you, right now, a BIG NO.

She is not in a conservatory but study in music university, voice and conducting are her major subjects, nothing about Opera Classical specific. FYI. It was Wendy Kokkelkoren who prepared her for this Aria and Wendy isn´t a succesfull operatic singer but merged to more of a popopera singer.
