Amira Willighagen returns to Holland's Got Talent All Stars for a ten year anniversary. In Spring 2023, Dutch TV Channel RTL4 invited back the best of the past fifteen years of HGT. It was not a contest, but a showcase of their progress since the show. As a special featured guest, Amira - the most famous contestant to have ever appeared on the show - was flown in from South Africa and was saved for the final performance of the night. The show was recorded before a live audience on May 19, 2023 in Aalsmeer, Netherlands, and was broadcast on Dutch television on December 30, 2023. Here is the full segment with Amira, along with judge's comments and English subtitles. The judges are Marc-Marie Huijbregts, Chantal Janzen, Dan Karaty, and Edson da Graça. Amira's father Gerrit was also present in the audience along with officers of her nonprofit, Gelukskinders.

The song Amira chose to sing is "Ebben? Ne andrò lontana" ("Well, then? I'll go far away"), an aria by Italian composer Alfredo Catalani, from Act 1 of his 1892 opera "La Wally." The aria is sung by the main character Wally when her father refuses to allow her to marry the man she loves and wants her to marry another or she must leave his home. She chooses to take her chances in the Alpine snows rather than acquiesce to her father's demand. In the end she dies in an avalanche. For the HGT show Amira sang a shortened version of the aria to conform to show rules. I know a lot won't understand this but I still love her humility in curtseying to the audience, so endearing for her to stick to her guns when most other female performers insist on bowing nowadays , a girl of class and dignity indeed, and obviously tons of talent

Tears poured down my cheeks then, and ten years later they did again. Beautiful in every way, but her inner beauty radiates from her and through her voice. Thanks Christopher 😊 for letting us see and enjoy her singing again. I'm pretty sure that if she has had any training, it is minimal. This is natural talent.

I was part of a Pipes and Drums band from Canada, escorting WWII veterans back to The Netherlands for Liberation anniversary ceremonies. Amira sang for our veterans. It was so emotional, moving. Bless her.

Thank you Christopher for this amazing video! I still remember when I first heard Amira sing, how astonished I was and since then I couldn’t stand pop singers’ singing. By the way, I saw on some other videos that you were a follower of Berkeley, so I assume you know what Plato said in the Republic about music. Very interesting. I didn't know Plato said that. I mentioned Plato in regard to Amira's singing in one of my videos. Amira once said she did not know why people cried when she sang. She said perhaps it reminded them of something beautiful. That is a nearly perfect match with Plato's description of viewing the world of perfection (forms) prior to the fall into mortal life. According to Plato our recognition of perfection is due to this recollection. Amira is solid gold. Thank you for sharing. Have a wonderful day!

Indeed, you're right. Not only the audience, but Amira herself sometimes seems to have been directly acquainted with the idea (form) of music, even before her birth... Actually, there is an assertion by Leibniz, which made me always think of Amira's voice since my very first hearing. Musica est exercitium arithmeticae occultum nescientis se numerare animi. I believe he was let go due to controversy over one episode of HGT in which he made racist jokes about a Chinese contestant. He was too controversial for the show. Has she performed a full role in an opera, or is she continuing to just sing as an individual? She might not be interested in conforming to the requirements of an entire opera. Would love to see her do some of the roles that made Callas famous.

Amira has said she does not want to be boxed into an opera career as she loves many genres. In fact on top of studying music at the University of Pretoria she is also studying conducting. She is keeping all her options open and still trying new things.
