Believe it or not - today she is even better! This show was recorded in May 2023 but only broadcast on December 25th, 2023. 5 months ago Amira started her studies of BMus (Bachelor of Music) at the University of Pretoria. Her subjects are classical singing and conducting. And in her most recent performances you definitely see an improvement. Although it's of course difficult to improve something that is already so close to perfection! Thank you for another emotional reaction to my favorite singer! 😘

For another recent Amira (musical not opera) try Phantom of the Opera, singing with South African Ruhan Du Toit. The best is Lexus Pops Classics 2023 version. Ps. You may know you have something in common with Amira. Her charity, Gelukskinders, helps children in South African townships. Charity performances have also included typhoon relief in the Philippines.

The song is in Italian; it's from the Opera "La Wally" by Alfredo Cataloni (1892) . It's somewhat abbreviated here.

Great reaction about a new great performance. By the way, Shakespeare probably felt the same way as us... Juliet : " It was the nightingale, and not the lark, That pierced the fearful hollow of thine ear, Nightly she sings". Romeo "It was the lark, the herald of the morn, No nightingale". We : "Well, actually it's Amira Willighagen's angelic voice !".
