4 жыл бұрынI challenged myself to create a chair based on tension, using only rope and wood as the main materials. This was a very challenging build, but I am very pleased with the way it came out! it has a pirate ship/ sailing ship look, and sitting on it feels like being on a ship with subtle suspended movements and creaking wood. Tensegrity, tensional integrity or floating compression is a structural principle based on a system of isolated components under compression inside a network of continuous tension, and arranged in such a way that the compressed members (usually bars or struts) do not touch each other while the prestressed tensioned members (usually cables or tendons) delineate the system spatially.

After 3 years, this is still THE best youtube's vid imo. It's just brimmed with that sort of unexplainable relaxing energy mixed with a sweet melancholy vibe, that for me manages to rewind, reexperience the brighest side of life. Not merely calming the nerve and mind, but much deeper than that, maybe somewhat spiritual. Everytime I watch it, my internal demon subsides, retreating into this heart's deepest recesses. You should use wire rope 0.036" without a plastic coat and a single string can hold up 250 lbs, is thinner, stronger, less messy and more invisible

It’s nice 1/2 inch braided rope. I have a link to it in the description. Being braided makes it extra strong, but there is always that possibility haha

that rope is probably stronger in tension than wood is in compression so yeah very very small chance of it breaking
