This axe was recovered from the bottom of a river. The handle likely swelled and caused a huge crack. In this video I will restore the axe using a woodworking technique with brass bow ties. Inspired by the dovetail axe by ‪@BlackBeardProjects‬

I like this "thinking outside the box" approach. Aesthetically, the brass contrasts really well with the distressed steel. Hopefully, it will be a strong enough repair. I also really like the effect of the oxidizing on the axe head. It gives it the look of a hand-chipped stone axe head. Cool trick using the phone's camera to give you the profile for the axe handle. I need to remember that one. Really great project!

That was pretty cool! It's also very impressive how well you can work with a freaking grizzly bear rummaging around just a few feel away.

Hey Amir, that's a amazing project. I want to check you Video and predicted million of views.... For my perspective could be the thumbnail the problem. I would show the end result very big and the old small in the corner.

How would the glue/epoxy hold up for the bow ties? Usually in wood the bowties are flush with the holes, but isn't the case here. Regardless, a fantastic restoration!
