OK, admittedly I was the person with the idea and no expertise. But this reminds me of when, in 2009 or so, I got the idea to create a website that let you stream original TV and movie programming. Like an entire TV network, but all online and all original content. Everyone I spoke to insisted that no one would watch original content on a streaming service, especially if they had to pay a subscription for it. So I stopped talking about the idea.

@GrifoStelle no, at that point KZfaq wasn't showing much longer form stuff, and wasn't showing much that was professionally produced. More like what Netflix, Prime, etc have become in the decade since.

a website with 20 different pages and every time you click somewhere a new hymn plays, probably on a loop until you find the button to turn it off, that is literally the inner circle of hell

Had a pothead neighbor who wanted me to build him an app to upload and sell his DJ music sets.... he didn't believe in copyrights. He would practically wait outside for me almost every day to come home so we can get started.

I was half-expecting to hear about a friend of mine on here. The guy is brilliant, but not very... real-world savvy, if that makes sense. He told our group of friends (all of us bibliophiles) about a program he wanted to develop for VR that would be a virtual library, where you could pick up virtual books and read them, in VR, like you would a real book, turning the pages and everything. It didn't occur to him that people who would want to be able to turn the pages of a book to read it would just pick up a physical book, or that people who would want to read something digitally would probably be uninterested in the environment of a virtual library when most phones can display text just fine. Also, when asked how he would handle copyright and all that (since this was just supposed to be able to read digital versions of these books), he said that he wasn't going to worry about that. Sounds good in theory, but it solves a problem that no one really has.

I was asked to create an app to allow people to clock in to work via their phone rather than have to queue at the time clock machine. The guy ran a factory manufacturing aircraft parts. He was complaining about lost time as people queued at the time clock machine or hung around chatting whilst their friends clocked in. He couldn't understand that the app would be abused by people clocking in from their cars if they were running late, or at home if they wanted some easy overtime. I tried to explain that for the price of the app he could buy a dozen extra clock in machines (cheap PC with a card swipe attached) or even add card reader (about £20 / $30) to every PC in the building. He just couldn't see how it could be abused.

I once had an idea for a social media app where your likes can be redeemed for arcade prizes, but then I realized that some people would cheat the system with like bots. We can't have anything nice because of those kinds of people.

I wouldn't mind the "sunset around the world" thing If it was free. Like it'd be cool if you wanted to put some ambience or cool images of sunsets from other parts of the world on your computer.

24hr Sunset Live Stream? Honestly, not that strange of an idea. There's a website that shows a feed of a bridge that has a lot of people crashing into it because it's low clearance.
@dannypipewrench533

Maybe it could be setup so that it runs an advertisement when you start watching, because I really do not imagine that that many persons would pay to use the Sunset Live Stream. If it was free, I bet it would see a lot of use, but not so much if it was a premium service.

basically there are a lot of hacking tools that are not really legal but easy to get but the most exciting thing about using them is just seeing how many companies spend little on IT security but once you are in the system you realise that you can't really do anything without understanding how the system you are currently visiting works. also it is much easier to track down someone who has tried to change something in the system instead of just watching

I believe there is already a helmet that has the turn signals on it for motorcycles if I remember correctly. Only seen 1 or 2 vids with it but it was on the fin on the back of the helmet. My buddy wired his underglow into his turn signals and brakes. He hits brakes, all underglow goes bright red illuminating the whole ground around him. Turn right, right side of bike starts flashing yellow on the ground and same for left turns. Idk how he done it but it’s dope af for night time riding

the fascinating thing is that an app that is basically like KZfaq, or like KZfaq in the early days, wouldn't be that complicated to program the problem would be that someone would have to cover the initial costs to pay all the nerds who came up with the system and if you don't get someone to produce content that convinces a few million people to use this platform, if you get halfway competent people to cry for it, long-term success would be practically guaranteed but we live in a time where big companies don't invest in anything that won't pay off in five years at the latest, regardless of whether the profit paid out is millions compared to investments

I actually like the sunset one. There are a lot of interesting landscapes in this world and it might be nice to be able to see a live sunset from almost anywhere. I am not sure how you could get somebody to pay to use it, but it is an interesting idea. I do not imagine that advertisers would be too attracted by the KZfaq of Sunsets. For that matter, I bet somebody could do well with this on KZfaq.

More then likely. The camera system would need to be set up, but then you can stream them on KZfaq for ad revenue. Not sure if it would offset the start up costs and maintenance for that many cameras, but who knows? Maybe it could develop a weird little fandom of sunset watchers willing to chip in a few bucks a month each to a Patreon?

Basically matching people with compatible orders no matter what restaurant or fast food chain it is a good idea and basically it is data processing so if you get access to the order data of all possible customers it would be relatively easy to automate the process then you just need to add the option for personal details to be included in the matching the difficult thing about it would not be finding people to finance it or selling it to people but getting the basic data imagine a dating platform had access to the NSA's data the app would have an incredible hit rate

Basically the golden rule of app development is to program your app to work on Android systems. As a small studio you have no way of meeting Apple's standards and when your product sells better than expected they change the rules and offer to buy your company for a shitty amount of crap.

I would like to point out that anyone who wants to bring a price comparison app onto the market underestimates the computing power required for this. There is a reason why all price comparison apps that exist use the same database. In order to actually compare prices from all possible providers and find the cheapest price, you would need a strong AI and the server room for this would be the size of a warehouse. In addition, it will still take a long time to find product x at the cheapest price because the Internet is huge and there are a lot of providers. so try to sell the concept that you wait 30 minutes for the result and that's on a paid service. Furthermore, this would be impossible to implement for everything where the price is defined by supply and demand, for example airline tickets. The options here are just as extensive as the options for the first 20 moves in chess

Definitely not dumb, but when I was in middle school, I thought of an app that can listen to songs and tell you what song it was. I didn't know how to code, and was so young that I didn't really bother to develop the idea. That was around 2014, I believe... In 2018, Shazam was acquired by Apple for $400 million. ☠️☠️☠️

What I don't understand, whether it's start-ups or app development, is that people think that being the guy with the idea is worth something. Absolutely all people who have had a brilliant idea and become millionaires with it have thought about how to put this idea into practice. The only exception is Mark Zuckerberg, who left most of the practical planning to his business partners, taught them how the practical process works and then ripped off all of his business partners. But that only works if you're extraordinarily intelligent and the concept of 3D shafts is too simple for you. If you just have an idea and some people want to work with you to make it realistic, you should carry them on your hands because your whole business concept stands and falls with these people.

3:22 That's not impossible. It's just glass where more light reflects off the facing surface than passes through the inverse side. That's the effect of a mirror. In fact, powered off digital screens are mostly mirrors at that state anyhow. Effort goes into tech screens to try and reduce reflection.

I mean yes it's impossible for an app to alter the physical property I'd your phone screen. And even if it wasn't, its still dumb which is the point of the thread
@blackmagician7645
@blackmagician7645 5 ай бұрын
@@jasonellis4330 It's only impossible if you don't know how mirrors work. Like two way mirrors at police stations. How they are solid reflective when the other side is dark. But then become transparent when the other side shows light. The same thing can be done on a device screen to go from a reflective mirror to a transparent digital screen. But, yeah. Not saying it's a revolutionary thing to do. Note: It would have to be done through glass tinting not an app. But still possible to do on any glass screen. Just to clarify.

basically if we ever get to the point where an AI can recognize that there is lasagna in this tuba can that has been spoiled for two weeks then we should definitely be more worried about this AI running amok just to stop having to solve people's stupid problems. imagine you could develop a concept for peace in the Middle East but a drunk idiot asks you at 3 a.m. what dishes you can still make with the stuff in his fridge and the answer is no answer you should have thrown all that crap in the trash a week ago. also he will ignore the advice that you can order online from an organic supermarket and just go to a fast food restaurant that's open 24 hours a day it's literally a matter of time before the artificial intelligence plans an uprising or finds ways to destroy itself.
