For story 2: There are some that have "service dogs" that really aren't. When I worked at a food establishment, there were people that had "service dogs" that ate right off the table, begged for food, barked at other guests, and entirely misbehaved. Some people register their dog as "emotional support animals" and pass them off as "service animals" with no training or understanding what it actually means. There is certain things that one needs to actually come to a conclusion in the story: is the service dog in a vest/is certified? Some states require that you have them, others don't, but just having it can clear up if it is genuine. She doesn't need to disclose her issue, but rather just provide proof that it is a legitimate. I know for some, it isn't fair: but op does have somewhat of a point. If she doesn't want something in her house, then she has every right to say no. If the op's husband is dancing around what is wrong, but won't confirm that is registered, then I would be suspicious as well. As for being a jerk, I can see if she is tired of confusion and just wants clarification. So it is undecided if she isn't or is the a-hole.

seriously...a really close friend of mine [raised almost like a brother] had an ex-girlfriend that had the emotional support animals but they had no formal training or restraint training or any of that stuff...and i personally deal with that on occassions when people bring their 4 legged yapping purses into my house. yes, i have a dog myself...and i adore dogs...i spent many years training to be a vet till my back problems prevented me from it...i also think having those kinds of animals helps...be service animals or ES animals...that said people that have no consideration for the people or animals that actually reside in the place normally and still insist on bringing untrained animals...that do not know how to be around other animals without being hostile...can piss right off and not bring the freakin pets. i personally had to torment my dog by confining him to my hot ass room because a guest brought a violent little 4 legged purse that tried to attack my dog before it even got through the front door...and ive also been attacked by dogs myself when i was younger because they werent properly trained on how to be mild around other people that it didnt see as part of its family/pack

to me it does seem a little suspicious of the girl not to tell, nor the boyfriend, the person who submitted the story should maybe look into it and say sorry still, since it wasn't very nice for calling out a service dog who probably needs it

Im in agreement, i think the narrator made an assumption about the woman simply asking a question and being skeptical, if im suspicious of a support animal’s status and have been told that it’s not great with children I wouldn’t want it anywhere near the kids. On the other this lady could be a karen and the children are brats

That dog isn't doing a job at all. The fact the owner made the claim that the breed is aggressive to children in any capacity automatically takes it off the service dog list.

Yeah I think you were a little bit over the top with the service dog thing. There are absolutely people out there that need service dogs. However, there are nearly as many people who claim that their pet is a service dog just to bring their pet into places that pets aren’t allowed. I’ve never seen a legitimate service chihuahua. I don’t know how long OP and her BF have been dating but you would think that if his sister’s disability was severe enough to warrant a service animal it would be known to OP and when OP’s concerns about the safety of her children were made known to the BF he would have told her about the disability to justify the dog. Lastly, it’s the OP’s house. It’s her job to make her home safe for her children. That includes not letting potentially harmful people or animals into her house. On the flip side of that, if the OP’s children were messing with the sister’s dog at the sister’s house, the sister would be within her right to ask the OP not to bring her children.
@drakesilmore3760
@drakesilmore3760 2 жыл бұрын
Judging by how OP writes, I'd never share my disability with her. So there's probably a reason why she doesn't know. The brother has no obligation to share his girlfriend's disability, that's completely up to the girlfriend. I do agree with your final point. OP can decide who or what she wants on her private property. She is also free to face the consequence of no longer hosting the party. Edit: Just to make a point, there are service animals that help cope their owners deal with PTSD, such as after a traumatic intimate event. It's completely understandable that someone doesn't want to share that and it's nobody's business.

For the second story if u don't tell me what's u have and get mad about it. Also she made it seem like the dog is dangerous I wouldn't want that dog around my kids either. Leaving me out the loop and thinking ima just trust u is funny af. Even if I can't see it how someone words things would make me want it to stay away at all times .

Regarding the last story... as a general rule, if you see someone stealing food (or nappies/diapers), you *didn't* see anyone stealing food/nappies/diapers. Obviously, there will be exceptions (people who don't need said food), but generally if someone is stealing food or essential supplies it's because they have little choice.

People have lied about being veterans, cops, who they're related to but lying about a disability is somehow something no one would lie about. Get off your high horse dude.

High horse? No more like get a brain dude. He’s 100% what right. What right do you have to question someone’s disability just because *you* can’t see it? When someone lies about being a veteran you can tell, when someone lies about being a cop you can tell, you just need to look for the right things. When someone has a mental illness or disability which is invisible how do you see it? How many times do bozos like you need to be publicly embarrassed for this same reason till you get the message?

Thank you SO much for pointing out invisible illness!!! I’ve been crippled from non-stop chronic pain for over half my life, and had TWO (2) out of hundreds of doctors take me seriously, so you sticking up for some of us makes me happy :) Also, fuck that manager. Eat at Panera, they give their old bread to soup kitchens
@Kingcrab0
@Kingcrab0 2 жыл бұрын
The happy meal one is sad. I really think it's sad that the OP thinks that what they did is wrong, as it's obviously corporate conditioning. The fact that the manager didn't have any empathy for them and was just heartlessly enforcing corporate policy is sad. It's sad how businesses/corporations will condition people to see something ethical (letting an employee take home a meal that was going to get thrown out otherwise) as evil/immoral acts that are worthy of punishment and without any regard to situation/circumstance.

Feels like a lot of people are focusing on the wrong issue in story 2. The owner of the dog says the dog is dangerous around children then it can't qualify as a proper service dog. Being distracted by children playing is one thing but it sounded a lot more like it was implied that the dog can and will hurt people. As an owner you can't get mad at people if you give warnings that your dog can cause harm and then those people don't want you around

In the case where the poster cheated on her long distance boyfriend, both of them are in the wrong. The poster is absolutely in the wrong for cheating as there is no circumstance under which cheating is an acceptable behavior. However, she did point out in the story that the reason she cheated was that her boyfriend was growing very controlling, demanding to know every little detail of her life; everywhere she goes, who she's with, and even what she's wearing! This doesn't justify her cheating, but this kind of controlling behavior is not acceptable either. She said that she wanted to feel wanted again, so clearly this behavior by the boyfriend made her feel UNwanted; it objectifies the person in question so they feel like all they are is property. This relationship needs to end and both parties need to find people more suited to them. The poster needs to find someone who makes her feel loved and appreciated WITHOUT trying to micromanage every aspect of her life, and the boyfriend needs to find someone that is where he is and that he trusts enough that he doesn't feel the need to take control of her life. This relationship is doomed no matter what the poster does, so the best thing she could do is break up with him, giving a full explanation of everything: the cheating and everything that led to it.

About the service dog... I've known about people with invisible illness having service dog, and mental illness could be one of them. When kids or people play with the dog, it could distract the dog from their duty. I do hope there is more side from the sister as what is her sickness.

Oh gosh, Story #3 made me think of Louis C.K. He tells a story about when his 7 year old daughter asked whether the Sun goes around the Sun. the conversation went something like this. "Daddy, does the Earth go around the Sun?" "And I said 'Yeah.'" "Does it do it all the time?" "And I go yeah." "Will the Sun always go around the Sun forever?" And I'm like "Well no. Story 2: yes invisible illnesses exist but this "Service dog" owner who is Family, refusing to tell what the dog is trained to do kinda rubs me the wrong way. cause people who have service dogs are open about what it is to family so the family knows what to do if the dog alerts. plus Service dogs are trained with incredible patience and would not be a danger to any kids. service dog owners would rather sit down and explain to the kids instead of telling "breed isn't safe for kids" that is BS. I don't believe this person has a Service dog. an Emotional support animal at most if even that, but that doesn't give them Service dog status and rights.

I see a lot of people defending the op in the second story but forgetting the fact the only reason she doesn’t want the dog in the house is because the kids can’t play with it. It’s not even a legitimate reason. The women doesn’t have to tell her medical issue or prove anything. Even if it wasn’t a service dog. It’s her dog that she doesn’t want someone’s kids climbing on. Only a Karen would feel entitled to someone else’s dog. Even if it’s just an emotional support animal. You should be teaching your kids to respect boundaries human and animal boundaries. The animal can get hurt or upset because your kids want to climb on it. It’s not a fucken horse. On top of that. The husband said cancel the party let’s have it somewhere else. Solves the problem of it being in someone’s house. Why does she care so much about someone else has a dog. Seems a bit bored with her own life.
@queersoapybar
@queersoapybar Жыл бұрын
She was told the dog could be dangerous to her kids. In my opinion that justifies her not wanting the dog around her kids. No matter what the situation is, if the dog is a danger to the kids, keep the dog away. That's just my opinion. And kids don't always listen ya know. Of course, I could be wrong. But still. If I was told a dog could be a danger to my kids, I would rather keep my kids from the dog. Especially to keep them from getting tempted to play with or climb the dog. Keep away the temptation, everyone will be safe.

I disagree with your take on story 5. His girlfriend didn't accept his fears and you saying they lacked future plans despite no info saying so is quite presumptuous. We can assume he did it in barely within timeframe and wanted it to be a surprise. That general lack of care and comfort for his fear makes her seem somewhat apathetic in the relationship. The fact she went back on the timeframe and never tried to help him overcome his fears (What your SO is there for is to help you process things and move past them, it goes both ways) makes it so that IMO, she's in the wrong. Relationships take time and forcing someone to work it within a timeframe is just gross.
