The best part was rotating the map. I know it sounds absurd but I haven’t been able to grasp the concept of coriolis force since many months despite having had resorted to different sources. Only after you rotated the image of the earth did all pieces fall into place. Why am I telling you this ? Because I want you to know that the smallest of explainations can create a huge difference in getting our concepts clear, and that is what differentiates you from other teachers. So please keep incorporating more and more animations to help us understand the concepts.

Thank you SO much for this explanation! Really well done! Just one slight correction; In Australia, we definitely call them Cyclones. Willy Willys are actually small "tornados" that form mostly in the desert areas of Australia. They occur on clear, cloudless days, and are fascinating to see. (same as Water Spouts in the ocean) A thunderstorm that causes a "willy willy", is called a tornado in Australia. They occur in major cities from time to time. (not as often or severe as Tornado Alley in the US, thankfully) Thank you again for this video. Great work!

Great presentation. The one thing that this really helped me with: In the Northern Hemisphere where the Coriolis effect drives wind right-ward FROM a high-pressure system, I had a hard time understanding why the air would THEN move left-ward as it approached a low-pressure system. Your statement about how the air was then "attracted" to the center of the low-pressure system was very useful for me to picture the switch in direction to form the actual storm. Thank you.

Hi, if I may make a suggestion, when you have a picture of earth and sun at about 1'20" you should have represented earth as inclined as its rotation axis is not strictly perpendicular to the sun's elliptic. Just a detail, doesn't really make a difference to the point you make.
@-Mitra-2 жыл бұрын
