Some of these politicians think Singapore is either part of China or going to be return to China but, Singapore has never been a part of China, it is located in South East Asia. Geographically, we are close to Malaysia and Indonesia and our national language is Malay.

I'm not American and I have never even _downloaded TikTok_ and yet I just wanna run up to the ceo and say I'm so sorry u had to deal with this rubbish. I can't believe he kept his cool the whole freakin FIVE HOURS when they were putting words in his mouth, constantly interrupting him, not allowing him to respond properly and giving him these insane complicated questions but just allowing him to make yes or no answers all for the purpose of just trying to trap him. He was meant to be the "bad guy" in the room, and don't get me wrong he could still totally be doing some sketchy things, but the congress just completely backfired on themselves. It gave me and my friends a good laugh, but it's also heartbreaking that people so out of touch are such powerful leaders. As a young person, I'm actually really curious to see what kind of leaders the new generations will make. If they'll also start to be out of touch, or if the fact that they understand how to use technology now will help them learn more quickly as it changes.

The structure of tiktok actually makes it super hard to "ban". As stated previously, the company is already pretty well insulated from China and working on improving that. The ban of a piece of software has to be a law, and that law is either going to be unconstitutional or it's gonna hit every other social media platform.

So… 🤫 I am mortified at the behavior of this Congressional committee with regard to this interrogation (let’s face it-this is nothing more than an interrogation…I’ve seen serial k*l1ers get more consideration and respect than this man has received). The notion that they did not even bother to acknowledge or know ahead of time that Mr. Chew is Singaporean or even how the app works in the realms of filters or time limits simply perpetuates the world view that Americans steamroll non-Americans and don’t give a shit about the details or intricacies of a given situation. Not all of us are like this, and had ANYONE given this gentleman the courtesy to research and understand whomever they were speaking or how his app worked, not to mention the immensely rude and dismissive manner in which they wouldn’t let the man answer questions they had asked, perhaps they could’ve been enlightened and given the information that they demanded. I’m not saying there aren’t concerns, but banning Tik Tok isn’t something I ever imagined I would see in this country. I feel like many of their questions went off of “suppose (insert scenario here)” or “well what if (insert dramatic turn of events here)”.
