But even in the midst of hatred and slaughter, there is still much to live for. Wonderful encounters and beautiful things still exist. We depict hatred in this film, but only to show that there are more important things. We depict a curse, but only to show the joy of deliverance. Most important of all, we show how a boy and a girl come to understand each other and how the girl opens her heart to the boy. At the end, the girl says to the boy, 'I love you, Ashitaka, but I cannot forgive human beings.' The boy smiles and says, 'That's all right. Let's live together in peace.' @@rubymori8834 he's pretty shit to his kid in particular, his family in general and the people in his life. his son spent his entire life trying to prove himself worthy, please him and meet his impossible standards. he just wanted his father to notice him but he never gave him a single drop of attention or affection, he always ignored him and behaved as if he was a burden. during the screening of his first film, miyazaki was so disapppinted he walked out of the theatre like twenty minutes in without a word, later telling his son that his film was immature and that he's not a man yet or something. he's a very cold, judgmental person, not at all empathetic and emotionally earnest like his films; he's super cynical and pessimistic. there was also a situation where a group of terrorists killed some cartoonists for drawing something that offended their politics (not sure if they blew up the entire office and killed people who had nothing to do with it too) and miyazaki justified it by saying they were asking for it by publishing something offensive.

My favourite thing about this series is just how surprising some of the picks from the artists are. I never would have expected Mitski to pull out a Ceremony record. These videos are such a wonderful insight into the minds of artists.
