Have you heard of Swedish and Norwegian forests with rather uneven ground and full of sticks, cones and needles? Then a hammock is perfect because you don't have to look for level ground and the forest is full of trees. 😉🤗

Just a small recommendation to go; Bring a tent footprint just to get a clean spot under your hammock. Great for standing and putting your gear. 👌

That is actually a really good tip Dennis 🙌🏻 Or one of those footprint you store equipment on in the field. We have a lot of these at work, storing climbing gear on etc. Need to look into this 🔥 Good luck 🙌🏻

Recommend front zip on the sleeping bag. You can just enter the hammock with the sleeping as a hoodie.

I would love to own one of those great hammocks. It will find a home on my 1150 dualsport for adventures downunder. Came to oz 52 yrs ago from aby Sweden. Been riding since I was 12. My first adv bike was an 83 tenere. Lars !

Looks like a great night sleep. Some adjustment to get used to it, but I really want to try one. Sitting/laying position and details are very well thought out by the engineers. Like that an insulated pad would work well without having to add an under-quilt on colder nights like a Warbonnet or Hennesy. As a side and front sleeper, I like the lay flat position. The main downside for backpacking is that a 2x person tent can be shared, but with this solution, there is twice as much to carry for 2x people and the cost would be $900-1000 for the pair of us. Never mind backpacking with 4x people. Just really inefficient and expensive vs sharing very light 2-man tents that by comparison are inexpensive and reduce weight and size when packing with others.

They also have a lightweight version of the same hammock, but as you say! It will still take up extra room in the bag if you are two backpacking. But if you backpack alone, a 2 or 3 person tent is just too big. It all depends on your needs. This is hands down the best bed i own, and I try to bring it as often as i can, but some times a tent is a much better option. So i would not be without any of them. Cheers

Hey Thomas, Glad to see you're back! And it seems that you got a bit of rain when you made this video. Our summer here is Quebec (Canada) has been rain, rain, and....RAIN! I've watched many, many of your videos as you know and have seen you use a hammock many times during your moto-camping adventures. It has always intrigued me how to use one! As usual, you come through with a thorough and proper explanation in a short video! Bravo again!!! (I am beginning to sound like a broken record! LOL!). I would think that a hammock might be a really nice alternative to tenting. t is seemingly easier to set up (once you find two trees close enough 🤣🤣🤣!) Cheers mate, ride safe, and be well!

I am fan of hammock, even if I have the cheapest from aliexpress... and is loads of improvisation to fix some safe cover above me in case of rain or even when over the night temperatures change it starts to be wet from above. Still learning things, but somehow prefere this over the tent.

As the Amok Fjöl winterlight airmatress does have good insulation R5 (-18C) , you can use your sleeping bag as a quilt. I can sleep like that till temperatures drop to +2-5 C without any problem in summer undies. If nights are colder or windy, long sleeves are needed or go in the sleeping bag. After over 500 nights in the Amok these are my experiences.

This is really good information. Me personally does not like the winter light mattress that much, I find the fabric to be just a little bit too soft for my back. So I feel like I have to blow it up all the time. The UL matterss is by far my favourite. Perfect in-between, but I have never used a sleeping bag as a quilt.. this I need to try. I've been eyeing the innovative Amoks hammock ever since I saw you dangling in one on one of your episodes. Since I own a pretty decent "MC adventure tent" and prioritize riding motorcycles before buying stuff (money makes the world go round...) I've hung Amok's hammock on my "maybe buy later hook" next to drones, 360 cameras and other unnecessary supplies. LOL. A few years ago I planned to take a little spin on TET Sweden and while looking around for ideas and suggestions I stumbled across your channel. Your scenography and storytelling style got me hooked right away and after seeing all your content immeasurably I recalibrated my sights to TET Norway instead. Unfortunately, due to the world being thrown into a "death spiral" in 2020, so did my (and everyone else's) plan with it. But now that everything is relatively calm in the world... ish!?, me and a friend are finally going to adventure around on our bikes in your stunningly beautiful country the first week of August. However, we will probably not drive the TET but "just" stick to the traditional routes and visit tourist traps in Møre og Romsdal, Vestland and (if time permits) Rogaland County. Exactly where and which roads are not written in stone, but the "route" is largely based on your videos. Thank you Thomas for your inspiring content. kind regards from a Nordic neighbor (SE)" PS. If you see someone, the 1st week of August, on a white Triumph Tiger 800 waving at you like a fool, it's probably me! 😀

Hahaha, great comment that made me laugh. I know all about the prioritise riding instead of buying stuff. But I'm a huge dum dum when it comes to better gear that makes my life easier. It just suck me in 😂 Really nice to hear that my adventures has inspired you to take your own adventures. In these parts of Norway I don't think you will miss the gravel. There is so much great to see. If you see a tall fellow at the side of the road setting up a camera or flying I drone. It is possible that one is me 🤣 Cheers

It looks very comfortable!! The way I get into any hammock is not very useful for Draumr since you sit perpendicular with the line. I would definitely need a few tries before I could get into it 🤣🤣

Thanks for the examples of ways to utilize the Amok Hammock system. I have been considering one for awhile now and may just purchase one this winter to test out next spring here in Alaska.
