IMO they are the perfect gateway band for heavy- and power metal fans like me to get into melodeath, especially because Johan is the best growler in terms of actually growling "clear" enough to understand the lyrics.

Love to see Amon Amarth on the channel! This album is a concept album that follows a young Norseman who is exiled from his village before joining a band of mercenary’s known as the Jomsviking, so you were absolutely correct in your assessment of this being musical theatre! I love the album and the story they tell within it!

Amon Amarth has many qualities and I love their music. The little downside for me tho is that from album to album the formula is pretty much the same. I once did a compilation with songs from many albums and in the end it was not obvious that these were songs from many different albums, it sounded as if they were from a single album.

Great reaction to this song(or literally any music) and when it became apparent that you didn't have the lyrics in front of you(and no one understands them all the first time) it only further impressed me, not many look past the vocals and focus on the music these days, and I agree about the vocals, in many of their songs the vocals serve as their own instrument, everything comes together usually to tell a story, and its the reason I'm such a fan, (especially songs like Arson, and the Avenger, Under Siege, etc)

I like Raise Your Horns by Amon Amarth. It has mainstream appeal if there can be such a thing for this style of music. I like most types of music but only occasionally listen to metal and also am not a big fan of the growl singing.... however, I really LIKE this song. While this song isn't bad (I don't think they have a bad song), there are a few other songs you should check out: •Across The Rainbow Bridge from 2002's Versus the World •Fate of Norns from 2004's Fate of Norns •Valkyries Ride from 2004's Fate of Norns •Hermod's Ride to Hel - Lokes Treachery Part 1 from 2006's With Oden on Our Side (since is my person favorite from then) •Cry of the Black Birds from 2006's With Oden on Our Side •Twilight of the Thunder God from 2008's Twilight of the Thunder God (this is probably their most famous song and will definitely get you some clicks) •Embrace the Endless Ocean from 2008's Twilight of the Thunder God •A Beast Am I from 2011's Surtur Rising •Doom Over Dead Man from 2011's Surtur Rising (really nice orchestral work on this one, prob my second favorite song) There are a lot of great songs on their most recent three albums too, I just don't know them by name because I'm generally stuck in their 2004-2011 era xD
