That JVM sounds GOOD. For whatever reason the PRS amps are voiced pretty dark. I think it would have been a lot better representation of what the MT100 is capable of with the presence up quite a bit more. But that is coming from TONS of experience with an Archon 100 and about 15 minutes total on an MT100 for what it's worth.

The JVM just has that snarl that is so pleasing to the ear.

I too prefer the JVM in this video. But to me you gotta dial both amps in to your liking. Sounding this different doesnt really make sense. Anyway great tones and great riffs.

EQ them to get the best sound out of both. The amps are gonna sound totally different set exactly the same. You set the MT to the best setting of the Marshall. Didn't seem fair if ya ask me. 🤷‍♂️

i went to order a jvm410h today on zzounds because it was 1k off until DEC 7 but it looks like they sold out. i think this video is partly responsible. Sounds great man.

Basically everything is going to sound lacking in a mix next to a Marshall. They are just voiced in a way that cuts above 90% of other amps. Lol

For me it is like the JVM has that young energetic high energy tone and the MT100 has a mature older tone. Like a young & older brother tones 🤘🔥🔥🤘

I need to try the MT100. I love my MT15 for what it is. Maybe I need to add a 100 watter to the stable. Edit: Holy s**t that MT100 disappeared in the mix. Just totally gone.

seems like JVM was Marshalls answer to 5150 because they realized they got smoked

maybe it is the 205 or tubes which makes this one sound good, for me 410 is the least "snarly" Marshall imo, kind of better TSL, full, bloated mids, less throaty/airy/open sound than dsl or plexi imo

Its because he set the tone controls almost identically to each other. So I mean, he owns the JVM and dialed it in exactly how he likes it, and then didn't really dial in the MT100 and gave it the same settings even though the have entirely different gain structures, and most likely have very different tapers on the tone controls and probably different tonestacks. They are totally different amps, and should be dialed in totally separately. The MT100's bass was up too high and the treble & presence were too low. It's honestly not a good comparison of the two amps.

It’s a little unfair to say the Marshall wins by a long shot. You played the MT-100, an American voiced amp through British voiced G12T-75 speakers. Essentially, high powered greenbacks. They can sound great for metal, but the amp’s bass, mids and treble response is going to be a lot different through those speakers. If anything, it made the tone of the MT-100 sound flat and boxy. Had you ran the MT-100 into some vintage 30s, it would’ve been a helluva lot more ballsy in tone, and I agree with other comments that you need to crank the presence more to give it some brilliance. Also, the Marshall is 50 watts compared to the 100 watt…the MT-100 needs that power amp cranked up to really unleash its monstrous roar. It would eat the Marshall’s lunch had you made those slight changes. The Marshall is still a great amp though and you dialed it in nicely here, I can’t take anything away from that however, you gave the JVM an advantage here because that amp is designed around that speaker combination.

For amplifier demos it would be prefereble to try to match the tone as close as possible. If the sounds are too far apart it will be near impossible to tell how the amps actually compare. Here the MT is considerable darker which could be rectified by adding some presence/treble.

wait a minute. Your problem is that you have the presence on the MT100 below noon when it should be at 1 or 2pm to match the brightness of the Marshall. I think you botched this comparison because you bought the JVM and are borrowing the MT100.

The Marshall JVM sounds so much better, the clarity and tones come through. The Mt 100 is ok, I wouldn't buy one. The MT sounded lost in the mix to me.

You can’t fuck with Marshall they’ll give you a real ass whooping. It literally makes that PRS sound like a garbage generic practice Amp Marshalls are king. I don’t give a shit what anybody says.

I don't have a horse in this race as i don't own any of those amps but this must be the most idiotic way of comparing amps I've ever seen. Where does setting all the controls at 6 come from? Obviously depending on the design of the amp and what guitar you use with it you're potentially getting awful results. So my takeaway is I would love to have my 5 minutes back.
