Yes Wayne the pink wire nd the orange and the black go to the speed sensor..I uploaded the wiring diagrm into the files section of the VStar 1300 deluxe FB page...the yellow and white wire you speak of are for the handlebar controller..it shares a black wire too

Finally found someone who upgraded, good on you Wayne. Bought my 15 v star 1300 deluxe in May. Now sound is not too bad but I run android with my Sony digital audio player loaded with high quality CD recordings. My Cool Stream Car Pro with the outdated 30 pin cord skips way to much and is inconsistent with automatic volume up and down although it does play the music louder than my Cool Stream Duo did, but the duo did not skip. Duo works great in my Victory Cross Country which also has an N-touch amp, and I installed a RF 300 x 4 amp really pushes loud and clear music. Since May I have been disappointed trying to find anyone who had upgraded to a better audio source for the V star. Then I just found yours Wayne and now know it can be done. I have looked at the Kenwood you used as an upgrade, which looks to be an easy and good solution. But I have no usefor the Garmin Zumo, hell I can not even read it while riding. I have thought about taking out the Zumo and replacing it with a head unit that will fit in that space that has bluetooth, radio, aux, and possibly usb for flash drive. There are several choices. And then a small, at least 60 watts rms, cool running digital amp. After seeing your video this should not be to difficult. I already have the Polk 5.25, but I wonder if 6.5 would fit as people on the Stratoliner Deluxe are using these also. Do you have any thoughts on this.

I know of a couple people who have upgraded to 6.5s. I think you need to use a spacer, drill some new screw holes and probably remove the speaker buckets.

@@WC1300 Thanks for the reply. I have a pretty good idea those speaker buckets are what gives this motorcycle clean sound out of the box, just a little underpowered. If I had to remove them I would probably be better off with the 5.25. Again thanks.

Get the Polk Audio 5.25" speaker and then bridge the amp so that you are getting the full power to the speakers.

Could you have used a signal converter to feed the Kenwood from the stock amp to make use of the auto volume control from the speed sensor feature?

You could maybe feed the audio out from the stock amp to the audio inputs of the Kenwood, but it wouldn't effect of the volume of the bluetooth device. It would only effect whatever is coming from the stock amp.

Where did you pick up the black mounting bracket for the remote?

The metal bracket is what the oem controller mounts to

Is the new amp too much draw for the power output on the bike? I have searched and it typically says the 1300 has about 80-100 watts to spare on power consumption

I never had issue with too much draw. Although, it did stop working this summer and I haven't had a chance to determine why.

If the bike never stalled, or the battery is still in good condition, then all is well, chances are the amp was just running too hot in such a small space and over time It just quit. But thank you because I just purchased the Pyle Marine, 400 W, which has the same specs as the Kenwood, and know now that it will suffice for power consumption.

It's just a basic RCA to 3.5mm adapter. I'd buy it off Amazon personally. Gonna be way less expensive them Best Buy or Micro Center.

@@levigogo9678 if it is like the 1300, there are like 12 hex screws around the edge that need to be removed and it comes right off

I added this Kenwood Bluetooth amp about 6 weeks ago with Polk Db 522 speakers as I bridged the amp and the Polk speaks are one of the few 5.25 rated for 100 watts rms. Really sounds quite good. I think this winter I will replace the Garmin which is next to useless for me add a head unit that I should be able adapt to the Garmin space with something like the Infinity PRV 250 or 350. But there are quiet a few options these days for similar size head units. This way I could listen to FM should I want, also bluetooth, or even USB flash drives. Thanks to Wayne for turning me onto this the Kenwood .

Very well made video brother. Thank you. Something that I am wondering is why you preferred to wire straight to the batery rather than power from an ignition wire. Or am I understanding this wrong? Thank you again

@@rockabolica the yellow wire that goes straight to the battery is a constant power wire. It draws a small amount of power while the bike is off (very small amount) to maintain the memory of the amp (bluetooth pairing, volume setting, etc) if you hooked it to a power source thst is not always on, you'd have to pair your phone every time.

@@WC1300 thank you for the clarification. I just ordered the amp haven't recieved it yet. As a matter of fact i also ordered the BOSS MC900B 4 channels 500w. I see it has some good reviews and is arriving before the Kenwood. Do you have any thoughts on that?
