Ampero II Stomp Firmware update V2.0.0 - Tutorial

Don't freak out if you encounter problems during the upgrade! Check out this info real quick!
To all Ampero II Stomp users: This update is a big one, packed with loads of new features. Due to these additions, there's been a bunch of new stuff added to the data in the presets. So, after you upgrade the firmware, the presets need to undergo some data conversion. We've included an automatic conversion feature after the upgrade, but if you're experiencing crashes now, it might be because the data conversion didn't go as planned.
If you run into crashes after the upgrade, here's what you can do to get your effects pedal back to normal:
1. Power off the pedal, then simultaneously hold down the MENU/VALUE knob and the 2nd and 3rd footswitches before turning the power back on. This should force the pedal into forced firmware upgrade mode.
2. Connect the pedal to your computer, fire up the Ampero II Stomp V1.3.0 software. The software should automatically show a firmware update button. Click it, choose the Ampero II Stomp V1.3.0 firmware (you can download it from our website), and confirm to roll back the firmware.
3. After successfully rolling back, use the Ampero II Stomp V1.3.0 software again to export and save your presets to a suitable location on your computer.
4. Reset the pedal to factory settings, then use the Ampero II Stomp V1.3.0 software to upgrade to V2.0.0 firmware following the normal steps.
5. Once you've upgraded to V2.0.0 firmware, if you're using the pedal standalone and it's working fine but encountering connection issues when hooked up to your computer (just keeps spinning) or it's crashing outright, head to the Hotone website to download the latest USB Audio firmware and follow the update guide included in the zip file.

This has been a massively helpful update. The display types are much better. My favourite thing about this update is that it live syncs changes on the pedal without having to re initiate the computer editor. Very happy. The new look is more inviting too. Also love that each effect in the chain has a little power button in the corner to turn the effect off. The little things that make everything easier are so good.

@@HotoneAudioI have just bought the stage 2 and I can’t connect it to my phone. My phone is on an older firmware version. How do I update the firmware on the phone and the stage 2?. Do I have to connect the stage 2 to a computer to update it ?

POST SOFTWARE CRASH SOLUTION: Reset the Ampero, go into settings, Factory Reset, Reset Global Settings. If this doesn't work for you (didn't for me) then restart the process and select 'Reset patches'. This will only reset the factory presets. I just did this and it worked for me.

@@alexvasc This will only delete the presets from Patch 01-1 to 32-3. If you've created your own from 33-1 and on, you should be good. Don't select 'Reset data', that one will delete everything and restore factory settings

This is a fantastic update. So many quality of life improvements on the unit and in the editor. I was super happy with my Ampero 2 Stomp before but some small things were missing, like the live updates in the software or the possibility to change multiple settings with one button. With scenes you topped what I was hoping for. Very well done and thank you for keeping inventing and updating the platform. One small ask from me is to make the font of the patch name in patch mode 2 bigger, but that is just a tiny thing. P.S.: One additional small thing maybe for the next update: It would be great to have the input and output levels displayed on the software again.

It’s actually great you put all these features and UI from Stage 2 to my Stomp 2. It feels like a new unit. I wish it’s now available the MIDI out control.

This is a long shot but what would be cool is the ability to turn your old ampero into a midi controller and being able to control the stomp and if the stomp cant handle effect in the rig it can rely on the old ampero to hold that effect (just the ones on the ampero tho none of the newer fxs) so the old amperos dont become useless and covered in dust And what would be cool is the stomp being able to use the app I know thats one of the main selling points of the stage but it would be pretty cool if we can plug into the stomp using the usb c cable (since nearly every phone uses usb c) and being allowed to use the app and record with it I really like this update though to include stomp users and to upgrade the ampero name keep them coming 👍

HOT TIP!! If you having trouble getting the Ampero II Stomp to connect to the software via USB make sure in Global --> MIDI Setting Midi In Source is set to USB or Mixed

If Stomp freezes after update, disconnect it from pc, restart and reset factory presets in global settings, helped for me

does anyone else have an incredibly hard time getting the unit to update? it keeps getting stuck on the device connected screen and wont do anything, very frustrating

Hello, awesome new functionalities, thanks to the Team. However, Unit is still not recognized by Windows after firmware update, even after rollbacking, factory reset, update, and reinstall of USB Audio.

Does it have a TREMOLO SPEED TOGGLE SLOW/FAST as Alesis Quadraverb has? ALSO needs a VST for DAWs to allow Multi-Track DRY EDITS. I hate using UI ASIO on PC.

It does not work (for me). The PC recognizes the unit, I load in the BIN file, and nothing. I can't even load the backup option, edit anything. It's just junk. It works fine in my rig, but otherwise, useless.

If the Ampero II Stomp freezes after two or three changes of settings after this update, reset all data, not just the settings, on global settings menu. Do it fast after power on! It will work flawless after that and you can re import your patches and settings then!

The new version of the software doesn't allow for importing and exporting patches. I don't see an option anymore. Is there a way to import patches?

Meu problema é o seguinte, tenho a Ampero 2 há mais de uma ano, tinha feito apenas uma atualização, então quando vi a última atualização 2.0, fiquei super animado, então o que fiz? Seguir uma ordem cronológica, fazendo todas as atualizações anteriores, e deu tudo certo. Em seguida faltava a última, decidir fazer a atualização, no término do processo, a pedaleira reinicia e trava na interface inicial, e não prossegue, então mantive a calma, pois é tenso...rs...rsrs! Fiz o processo novamente voltando para a anterior a 2.0 e deu certo. Então tentei outras duas vezes novamente, inclusive, trocando de cabo, mas não deu certo, havendo o mesmo travamento na interface inicial. O que me dizer a respeito e solução para ter a nova versão 2.0? Quem puder ajudar que tenha passado o mesmo problema, fico a disposição! Abraço!

Please add possibility to send MIDI commands by pressing footswitches on stomp/stage. (I'm not sure if this function exists now) It will be really useful to use Hotone ampero II stomp/stage as midi controller for pc or other devices. For me it will be perfect to use Hotone Ampero II Stage with IPad and send MIDI commands to daw in my IPad. And c'mon, make MIDI out on Stage work!

Hotone please help! My Ampero II Stomp was working great with my PC via USB until I tried to update to the latest firmware. I began the update and got to the point where it asks you 2 times in a row if you have already backed up your presets. I clicked continue, and the Ampero entered update/restore mode, but inmediately stopped being recognized by the editor and PC. Now the unit is still stuck in update/restore mode and I can´t do anything because no computer will even recognize it when being plugged in via USB (I have tried 3 different computers with the same results. It seems that the USB port stopped working when it got stuck in update mode. (Yes, I am using the latest USB driver from your website). I have tried different cables, rebooted my PCs, unistalled and installed latest versions of Hotone USB driver and Ampero II Stomp editors (I tried with the previous 3 versions) but the unit is still stuck in that screen. So in summary, it was working fine with my PC until I tried to update firmware and after that it is stuck in update/restore mode and no computer is able to identify it via USB. Even if I unplug the unit, when I plug it in again and turn it on it is still stuck in update/restore mode. Thank you for the support.

I only managed to update the firmware using the old 1.3.0 Software, the 1.0.3 (which is a very confusing version number considering it's the newer) wouldn't update.

I believe 1.0.3 is a typo. 1.3.0 is the correct one

@@blaze1461 I re-watched the video. They actually recommend that you update using 1.3.0 (older), but the newest is indeed 1.0.3. A change in update methodology and software versioning. This on top of my excitement for trying out the scenes was a disaster. Maybe my mistake saves someone else time.

@@DeedeeM3gaDooDoo it was an error when it's on the 'Patch data being updated'. I've tried different ways to make it work, but I only managed to get it back to the 1.3.0 firmware and leave it at that. Incredibly disappointing, to say the least.

@@Lucas_Salles If the error occurs when updating the "patch data", I suggest you reset the device to factory defaults, then update to version 2.0. Once successfully updated, try to import the settings back (if it is possible to import the old preset into the new firmware, I'm not sure if it is possible).

Don't update. Wait for the stable version I've encountered issues after the upgrade with randomly freezing UI, and disability to properly identify my device after USB plug in in Ampero II app. The behavior is observed for app both on Mac OS and Windows UPDATE: somehow, figured out to reset default presets and after restart it worked. But! I'm still holding my fingers crossed. Will eagerly wait for update to make it stable
