Awe! Big hugs! It’s a tough situation to be in! I hope my channel helps you make an informed decision that is best for you! Let me know if you have questions! Happy to help! If in some way all the hard things I’ve faced help someone else, the reason for being a content creator is accomplished! I do this because I want to help others in this unfortunate club to accept themselves and thrive as the learn to rise from the ashes with me :)

Your video is interesting. Difficult decision for a young person. I am older. I have learned that with tough decisions...there is always second guessing. The best advice, keep moving forward and living in the present. You're doing well.

How's the phantom limb thing going? Getting better? I am not totally sure but I feel like I've heard you mention having some of that in a previous video?

I am probably much older than your regular viewers, I am 54. But I have been researching amputation because of a failed hip replacement. You are a very brave young person, as I am in a state of terror and I am a combat veteran. My choices are pretty limited, I can drag around a useless, painful leg or have it amputated at the hip. Keep getting better, show this old curmudgeon the way.

Not all amputees can use prosthetics consistently, I’m one of them. But overall, my life is better because I choose to have the amputation. I’m glad you found the Phoenix Family! :)

@onefootedphoenix thank you for your reply. I have found very few options that appear functional in an active lifestyle for an at hip amputation. Most need a nub or vestigial limb to actively function. Do you know of any? In particular, that don't involve an intricate and apparently uncomfortable system of straps and hard plastic molds?

Appreciate your information. I have CRPS as a result of an ankle sprain in 2009. Not properly diagnosed for over 10 years, so it's well entrenched. Standard medication protocol has been ineffective. Now on LDN and transdermal Clonidine, also ineffective. Due to delay in diagnosis, insurance has refused to cover a spinal cord stimulator trial. I suppose next step will be Ketamine. When all these options fail and doctors/insurance refuse amputation as the last viable treatment option, is a CRPS patient just supposed to "suck it up and deal with it"?

I did ketamine, it’s a temporary solution at best for me. There is no true cure so everything will have its downside. Bisphosphinate infusions are the only thing that has worked on me. Every six weeks, very expensive and not covered by insurance.

Unfortunately, I’ve not seen much success come from the SCS models that are out there today. Surgeries = risk of spread for anyone with CRPS. Even amputation isn’t a perfect solution and needs to be done following protocol.

@@onefootedphoenix Understood. When I go in for my next appointment on June 4th, I suspect the conversation will be about Ketamine. Hopefully it will help, but I have doubts that it's an effective long-term answer. After that, I'm pretty much out of other options. Thank you for the response!
