People have asked me how mobile I am, how to use crutches, or how I manage to get around the house by myself...you asked, and here is the answer!
These are the crutch covers I use, both comfy and cute!

MY AMPUTATION STORY:
• HOW I BECAME AN AMPUTE...
Fourteen years of pain and failed ankle surgeries brought me to 2018, when I made the difficult decision to become a twenty-seven-year-old below-the-knee elective amputee. This channel is to document my journey of amputation surgery, recovery, and reclaiming my life.

Hi...Thank you for sharing your journey...my husband of 12 years had foot issues went to the hospital a week ago and discovered he was a diabetic...they want to remove his foot and tonight as we chatted in his hospital room he told me he is scared of not seeing his foot ...that he will go into depression....I told him with a prosthesis his foot issues will be over...sorry for rambling it has been a long week..thanks for listening
@FootlessJo
@FootlessJo 5 жыл бұрын
Please don't ever apologize for rambling, I can only imagine a piece of how devastating that must be for him - and for you. There is so much grief associated with the loss of a limb, and the process is different for everyone. I hope that he - and you - can get all the support needed to get through this. He will absolutely get a prosthetic - but in my experience, the grief won't end there. Losing a significant part of your body isn't something that goes away just because we have incredible medical technology that allows us to be able to learn how to walk still. He will absolutely be able to get through it, though. There may be rough moments but you guys can do this. If there is anything I can do or any questions I can answer (if you want to request a specific video or anything I can answer, I absoutely will), please let me know. My thoughts are with you.

Lmao okay the dancing bit killed me. To be honest, you dance better on one leg than I do on two 😔 (I’m really uncoordinated)
@FootlessJo
@FootlessJo 5 жыл бұрын
Hahaha I questioned putting it in the video like seven times then I was like "screw it, this is honestly how I danced BEFORE losing a leg too, so might as well embrace it!" I'm a klutz, uncoordinated, and I'm learning to embrace it. Glad you liked it lol!

It's 03:23am where I am and I've just watched all of your videos from start to finish! 😇 It's been a good bit of motivation for me. I struggle with several chronic illnesses (yawn) and am back at Uni, but struggling physically quite a bit. It's always encouraging to see other people pushing themselves and fighting for the life they want, so thank you for that. ❤ I'm looking forward to following your journey, especially for when you take your first few steps! So exciting!

K oh my gosh the fact you watched all of them sincerely means so much to me! Wow. Thank you. And I am so, so sorry to hear of the chronic illness and trouble you are facing...as someone who has lived for years in and out of doctors offices (for this and chronic migraines among other things), I know how exhausting and hard it can be. I applaud you for being back at uni! It sounds like YOU are fighting for the life you want, as hard as it is. Keep it up...I know it’s exhausting. But step by step we can get there 💜

The KZfaq algorithm shuffled you to my home page, and I've been binge watching your journey. You're an amazing person, thank you for sharing these new steps down the road your life is taking you along. I had to laugh out loud when I saw you 'Dancing on your crutches'. I can't wait to see you running on your new foot, but try not to leave hubby in the dust, lol. Thank you for bringing us along, you are an inspiration. I have a friend who has had a similar injury but, pardon the pun here, he is very attached to his foot. Ankle fusion was the last operation he underwent. If and when he's ready to consider amputation, I'll certainly be sharing these videos with him. All the best!

I was that way, didn't want to use a walker cause those are for old people. I laughed though the first time I did it because my muscle memory made me bend my knee to lift my foot off the ground which was no longer there. I did that quite a bit before I realized I could leave my leg straight. I never had a cast on mine after amputation, only ace bandages.

Thanks for the video. I call my crutches stilts (like those kids use). I have forearm (or elbow) crutches, they have some advantages, since you may use the mobility of your elbow, to more easily and faster push up doors or kick stuff out of the way.

Month 1 of BKA. I had 6 years of crutches under my belt they told me I must use a walker, no exceptions. The therapist said amputees only get to use a walker during their first month because you'll fall. They wouldn't even let me try them out with a gait belt. I know that's a lie now. I want my crutches. Thanks for sharing.
