In this video I compare Tethrd's VersaStraps and Amsteel Daisy Chains (VersaLinks). These are buckleless, lightweight stick and platform attachment straps.

These beat the snot out of rachet straps and I’m happy to see all the people using the daisy chain system, it seemed sketchy to me until I saw this video!! So much quicker for a hang and bang

My new Helium's came with Versa Straps. I had the issue of them not fitting too tight because the button landed between the stitching/weave, until I saw your vid. thanks!

I just found your channel thanks I’ve been using the straps and have been considered the chain just didn’t want to spend anymore money then I have already, but that’s what I’m thinking the cold weather will be the judge thanks I guess I will order some chains 👍✌🏻🇺🇸

I've been using the straps all season. They do seem to grab the tree very securely, but it's starting to get cold...

Is there a way to use Amsteel to replace the strap on my Treestand?
@SaddleHunter3 жыл бұрын
You certainly could, for a stand I would look at the “Whoopsie Daisy” by Backwoods Mobile Gear.

Thank you for this demonstration. Im going to be getting into saddle hunting this year and cant wait. Can I ask please, why are the straps or versalinks made so long...8ft? There seems to be such a huge amount of excess after securing to the tree and I would think this would be disadvantageous in any decent wind conditions. Great video as always
@SaddleHunter3 жыл бұрын
It's so people can hunt most any tree in the woods. I hunted what I would call a medium sized oak this year on my first sit of the year. When I went to attach my Predator platform, which uses a 6 foot strap, the strap was too short. So I would up using my 8' lineman's belt like a rope mod to hang my platform. I always tuck the straps in when actually hunting to avoid blowing in the breeze.

@@SaddleHunter it is also good to use the excess length to loop around the bottom step of the stick to make an aider.

When using the straps, get a pair of the gloves that have the fingers cut out

I believe so.

will this work with XOP sticks ?

Yes, it will work with any stick that uses a versa button style attachment method.

You allude to it in the video, but I don’t believe the Versalinks by Tethrd are the same material as Amsteel. On the Tetherd website it says it’s some type high strength polyethylene that they call DynaLite. Is that what I amsteel is made of?
@cetyl26267 ай бұрын
I don't have an answer to your question, but Amsteel is a product brand of rope by Samson company. Dyneema is another product brand (rope and fibers). Amsteel is made of Dyneema fibers. So all of the above is just branding. The material in all of these is the same (maybe some have additional coatings). The material in all of these is: UHMWPE Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene. Its is a type of thermoplastic polyethylene with long chains. It's also called high-modulus polyethylene (HMPE). It's the long chains that give it is valuable low stretch property and high static strength. I use it for hammock camping and love it. 7/64" thick (shoelace) is many times stronger than needed! 1600 lbs! UHMWPE has a weakness, it doesn't do well with abrasion resistance. And in climbing sticks and saddle hunting that means a shorter life without a sheath. I don't use one, I'm just careful with it to extend life. Search for UHMWPE instead of the brand names and its much cheaper and easier to find. Learn how to make locked brummels and burys and you can make anything!

Good review. I have used both the Tethrd straps and a diy daisy chain - both have pros and cons. I actually prefer the daisy chain primarily because of how my sticks stack tighter and easier to setup/take down. The straps grab the tree better but I find they are harder to throw around the tree as they are lighter.

I've been using the tethrd versa Straps all season so far. They grab the tree really well.

I use straps myself. I can pretty well judge the sag
@SaddleHunter3 жыл бұрын
Some guys get all worked up about sag, it doesn't bother me too much.
@prohunter5153 жыл бұрын
@@SaddleHunter well your not too intelligent then... the more sag in the tether the more kick out you have. Keep it tight as possible so when u set it the strap is as close to horizontal as possible
@seabass223 жыл бұрын
@@prohunter515 I’ve never had any kickout and I have these sticks. Guys are putting too much weight pushing down on the sticks to “step up.” I hold onto the tree and pull myself up with my arms and stay centered with and over the stick. Only time I ever had one move, was because my pull rope got caught on it and I pulled it off the tree.

@Deerpoo223 жыл бұрын
Great video, but you couldn't pay me to use either. Can't stand how much sag you get with both. The better option is a whoopsie daisy. Same thing as amsteel daisy chain, but takes out 90% of the sag before you set the stick

Good point! I'll have to check one out.
