In this week's episode of Gear or Gadget we are reviewing some mobile hunting climbing stick attachment methods. Specifically Amsteel Daisy Chain vs 8mm Rope Mod.
Chad is currently running the 8mm rope mod on his beast sticks and Cameron is running the Amsteel daisy chain with his LWCG Doubles. We discuss the pros and cons of each attachment method as well as compare them to running the original straps that come with the sticks.
We also review bow slings for transporting your bow and deer urine as an attractant. Jake has an interesting perspective on deer urine as his family owns a deer farm and Jake sold Deer Urine to help him throughout college!

Rope mod hands down. Tighter , less sag, more consistent gaps between sticks (with and without aiders ). People argue THE DAISY Chain saves time …. That’s BS. By the time your done fumbling with getting the chain split , on the right loop and fixing the 492 inches it sags your rope is already set

As far as the bow sling, had one for years. For 99% of my hunts I'm going in less than 1/2 mile, it's just another item to conceal, carry scent, or be useless. However, if you are going through very thick brush, golden rod, etc, a bow sling protects the strings and cables from abrasion damage, and keeps small twigs and vegetation out of the cam tracks. I think it is a tool that has a purpose, but not on every hunting situation.

Using daisy chain as a trucker hitch with the free end rope-mod tucked.... super tight and fast. Amsteel rope mod second though, the truckers hitch through a loop will cinch much tighter and come off easier since the tag end is at a 3x mechanical advantage, so its 3x easier to pull off and holds 3x stronger

After using the daisy chains for a season, I will be sticking with them! I’m pretty happy with my setup. Just going to continue to perfect it!

I have a scent tip that has produced amazing results in the past. I am friends with a guy that has a meat processing shop and he cuts off the fresh buck tarsal glands for me. A new buck showing up in the dominant bucks bedroom? Nothing like watching a buck come in all bristled and stiff legged.

The buckle is only faster if the length set for transport is close to the diameter you need for the tree. If you need to give or take slack it is no big deal but not faster. The buckles are slower if you count pack up time. With rope you can toss the loose ends over you pack and go. Buckles need to be tight.

agreed 100% on the doe piss running off all the does for sure and the bucks not responding. I"m bow hunting North Missouri next season. We were checking out some climbing sticks. There wasn't a straight tree around for a climber. thanks for the great info

Good thing about the rope mod is avoiding mechanical failure with a buckle.

Jaket gear makes a bow sling that works well also has a wrist sling and a magnet to keep it out of the way when not using it.

Nice job guys. I use rope mods on my Lonewolf sticks. I agree with the guy in the middle. I am super fast with them. Never tried daisy chains but they look good too. I just got some beast minis and will be putting rope mods. The buckles that came with brought back bad memories…..”Ting!” I also think deer pee is overall more trouble than its worth. We had a deer farm right by us and we would go get it right out of the deer basically. The estrous pee seemed to be a tad darker and had that smoother sweet scent to it. Not that it smelled good by any means. Ive had smaller bucks follow the wind up to my wicks but it just never produced in my experience. It faded out with me. The bow sling i got was a cheapy primos but i think its well made and have been using for awhile. I was hinting some really thick stuff and had my peep knocked out and string damaged by a huge thorn so i bought initially for string protection in a certain area i hunted. That being said i quickly realized the other benefits. Forgot bow rope? Not a problem. Need extra hand? Sling that baby on your back. I would also swing the bow around front when i had a bigger back pack on and rest my binos over the top of it which allowed me to glass without setting bow down every time. I did try putting my sticks in it but never got it to work right. Anyway, enjoyed the video keep it up. I just subscribed!

I never leave my pull rope hanging down. I always bring it up and snap or tie it to my stand out of the way. I have had deer smell my pull rope from where I clip my bow that morning plus I've had them here it clang the sticks so I always tie it off near the seat in my stand or around a tree or something to get it up out of the deers vision and smell. I highly recommend that

That daisy chain method is bonkers. I have a set of hawks that now ship with daisy chains. I treat them exactly like rope mods.

Spoiler alert: The guy on the left doesn't talk and grabs stuff, sets it down, grabs it again to set it down again, before grabbing it again to fiddle and then set back down.

Rofl top comment lol. I am making my daisy chains now. I will need five but figured 7 or 8 for anything else I might need. Also going way overboard and making them 10 feet long and adding 3 oz weights to one end to swing them around the big trees.
