I believe that the equipment on the shelf in front of the rear compartment was the radio gear. In RAF service this compartment also housed the radio operator!

When I was in Papua New Guinea I dived on an A20 Havoc. Ran out of fuel just before reaching Port Moresby.

Your skill and patience are next level. It's enjoyable to watch. The Load adjuster slide snippet was gold. I have almost 20000 hours and never seen anything like that. Early in my career (30+ years ago) we'd manage load by essentially adding numbers and drawing lines on type specific load sheets. But that's all computerised now. Thanks for showing.

Thankee much. I've been looking for a "project" build for a while: getting spoiled on new tool Tamiya kits - which are worth getting spoiled over. Something older, with an interesting subject. Maybe something by Accurate Miniatures. Or the Cyber Hobby BF-110. I think now the choice of my long held AMT A-20 will do nicely. Looking forward to every episode, even though I know I can't possibly follow every bend in the road you'll pave. As usual, a meticulous and splendid video - military modeling at its best.

Great video and build. Great use of Aircrew and added interior details. Fun! I love how this well known Builder puts emphasis on straight and lined up plane parts, by jigging up structures. I also like that he does more with planes in flight mode than I ever often see. I hope to get myself to make an in flight C-47 dropping Jumpers, with chutes in various stages of being deployed or opened. How to simulate spinning props, clever ways to conceal plane hanging methods I wish we would see more of.

Great to see info on this 1/48 AMT A-20! I finally built my 1/48 AMT F7F 2 Tigercat. After 20 years in a hot storage shed, my rubber tires were just fine. I had been so put off by the kit's problems years before, I was going to send it back to Company. The kit did have some really good areas too though. I thought the hollow exhaust stacks and complexity of such were quite well depicted. But the kit 's engineering for ease of building and structural integrity was the worst. The gear super weak, though detailed. Also, I had to build a Wing Spar. When the plane was in raw plastic giving me so much trouble, I at one point thought gee, the Tigercat is ugly with that look of a Mosquito Insect, and it's long pointy nose. Now that it's finished(mostly), I see only the Beautiful Sleek High Powered Plane it truly is!

Looking at various plans and cutaways I can't determine whether the step by the rear gunners foot controls actually existed on the earlier models with shorter bomb bay or whether just a plain bulkhead. Seen reference to that cylinder on the floor representing a trailing antenna reel - ?

Mr Budzik, you are as thorough and exacting in your work as one could hope! Whenever I prepare to build a kit, I wonder how accurate it is in relation to the actual; what expertise I may have generally falls short, however. Your corrections and clarifications encourage me immensely! Thank you. I very much prefer to build my models airborne, with full crews. However, stationary propellers utterly eviscerate the verisimilitude, and I would nerd to devise the means to motorise them. However I understand that the torque in such an effort over time can warp the polystyrene blades, distorting the spinning subassembly. Is this true? If so, the alternative would be to machine replicate metal replacements. Would aluminium be sufficiently sturdy to withstand the stress? Another issue that chafes at me would be the horribly intrusive stand and support post. (I never have seen an actual aircraft in flight equipped with them.) I would adapt a method from the motion picture industry called the Chapman crane; this is a rugged, articulated boom that extends some length to support something, its far end counterweighted for balance; the object so held blocks the camera's view of the arrangement. If necessary, the film crew can hide it even further with various methods, e.g., illuminated flexible panels approximating the colour of the sky (or glowing green screen panels). A robust backdrop in the exact same hue as the sky would match the boom, which itself would extend back from the model to a vertical support. I had all these kits, as well as an extra -B/C toward converting it to an -A. Before I could begin any serious work, however, circumstances intruded. 😟 Watching your excellence gave me a measure of satisfaction, if tinged with wistful reverie. Thank you a second time.

Hello Paul, greetings from the UK. I am a great fan of yours & have learned a great amount from you. I really looking forward to the next in this series. Also I'm hoping you can help with a small problem: I am remaking/updating a 1/48th scale A10 Warthog that I built 30 years ago. I have almost finished it but the lifting part of the canopy is cracked & has a piece missing, I'm trying to glue a piece into it but am not hopeful, do you have any hints or tips for me to help repair or replace this part please?

Probably a stupid question but what type of gloves do you wear while building models?

Paul, watching your videos has left me with a question. What do you think of the proliferation of 3d printing in the hobby? Personally I've used it to great effect, especially with those printers that are capable of using resin as their medium. I suppose it feels a little bit like a "cheat" of sorts, because I'm able to achieve things in my models that I simply didn't have the skills or the tools to do before.
