Amtrak 167 Phase VII P42DC, BNSF P3 Horns, Geometry Train & More...

Amtrak Phase VII P42DC 167 seen leading the Southwest Chief on May 17th. Decent raspy K5LA on the 167, used to sound much better than this but I'll take this over a raised letter any day!
I caught it coming in on an almost 3 hour late Amtrak 3 in Corona to start the day, I then decided to drive the extra 30 min up the 15 freeway and spend some time in Cajon Pass. I then drove back home stopping by Corona once again to see 167 lead Amtrak 4 back to Chicago.
Got some good BNSF grabs too! Was lucky enough to get 2 different Nathan P3 horn leaders, one of which was leading the Geometry train, as well as a couple juicy Narrow Font K5HL's on the older GEVOS (BNSF 7638 sounding amazing!), some foreign power, and other stuff!!

Great video and I can’t stress enough how much I love the scenery you have, great filming locations and nice to see you snagged 167 after its repaint! I like the K5LA it sports too I hope it continues to go strong. Amtrak has highly disappointed me in the past month swapping units that had great horns with raised letters for no reasoning at all, down here we lost 113, 108, and 90, these all had stellar NF K5’s with little to no defects and each have gotten replaced. So catch as many as we can!

Nice! I like the phase 7 on the Genesis more then the ALC’s 167 is good #89 is another top tier unit that’s very underrated in my opinion it got a new NF Hybrid and it slaps

Ya I was surprised to hear it coming... it was the 2nd P3 horn that day believe it or not. The Geometry train had a P3 lead as well earlier
