On June 18th 2016, Amtrak operated what was likely to be the final AEM-7 powered trip on the Northeast Corridor north of MARC territory. MARC had already begun leasing the final three remaining AEM-7s but two were "borrowed back" for this final tribute run for loyal fans of this iconic locomotive.
We caught the train passing through Martin State Airport station, north of Baltimore, before traveling up to Claymont, DE to catch the passing of the southbound run to Wilmington, then catching it one last time heading south through Perryville, MD on it's home stretch to Washington. Along the way we caught all of the regular action around the passing of the special, including long distance, commuter and regional trains.
