I have not been to San Juan Capistrano "Capistrano Depot" in a while, so I decided to head down there for a few hours to revisit it. I was not disappointed in action, as usual, only Amtrak and Metrolink trains stop there. Despite it being a quiet zone, it is still an interesting place to railfan, with beautiful Spanish mission-inspired station architecture and plenty of vegetation surrounding the area. San Juan Capistrano is also a very unique station unlike many other stations along the Surfline, with a distinctive crossing in the middle of the station, and being only one, very narrow platform. San Juan Capistrano is on a steep 1.5% grade, making it difficult for trains going southbound to make a good stop, as you can see the first train overran the platform by about 2 cars. This is Los Angeles Rail Productions and thanks for watching!
