This is a great piece of NEC history. Thank you for posting it, and your friend for going out and spending a pre-holiday afternoon shooting it. Harrison was a good choice for a location to shoot it. Only PATH trains stopped there, but the corridor trains passing through were either slowing for, or just accelerating out of Newark station, so you can see some detail in them (like motor numbers). I wanted to point out some of the more interesting Amtrak trains in this tape. At 10:20 is the Northbound Silver Star or Meteor. 12:00: Train #41, Chicago-bound Broadway Ltd. and at 48:00 the inbound Broadway, #40. You can tell because the consists ran backwards between NY and Philly (baggage and express cars on the rear), so when they reversed out of 30th St. Station they would be heading the right way to Chicago, and vice versa. 13:20: Probably a holiday extra train, a mishmash of coach equipment. 14:35: AEM7 #942, one of the units used for the 2016 "Farewell to the AEM7s excursion. The other unit used for the excursion, #946 shows up here at 49:50. 18:25: Leased MARC equipment for holiday extra train. Same set returns, with same motor at 56:35. 45:45: Probably a BOS-DC train (cafe in the middle and half-Club car on the rear). 1:10:30: Probably #97, Southbound Silver Meteor. 1:19:52: A NY-PHL "Clocker" service train to PHL. They were made up of heritage coaches converted to high-capacity seating and no food service. So called because they ran on the hour during the day. Again, thanks for your efforts.

This is incredible footage. We're seeing the "Thanksgiving Rush" consists that were from equipment Amtrak leased for this short period each year - in the 80s and early 90s. Several still images have captured this, but this is one of the first videos I've ever found that really shows the trains in operation.

Came for the models, stayed for the NEC video haha, got some good stuff in here! Maybe even sparking some train modeling idea's🤔

Day before Thanksgiving, when Amtrak ran pretty much anything with wheels that could turn, leasing a lot of commuter cars to make up extra corridor trains, sometimes with food service, sometimes not.
