I went to see her live and you know she’s the real deal because she paused to drink water a few times and I don’t see enough singers doing that which means a) they are straining their voice unnecessarily by not allowing themselves a few seconds of vocal rest or b) they aren’t really singing that much. You can tell she’s the real deal because she’s not PERFECT. She makes mistakes and that makes her voice sound so much realer and makes for a more honest performance. The important thing with Amy is that you can connect with her through the lyrics and the emotions rather than how “flawless” she sounds-she’s a real person and that’s what makes her a great artist.

Yeah her voice is great but she loses control over it sometimes. I gotta admit other singers have better control or technique, but thats ok. She more that a singer is a musician and thats what for me makes me like her and her work. Oh but let me say her live performances have improved a lot, i dont know if its a matter of technique or confidence but she seems to hit the notes more easily now.

I do believe she's so much better now. As she's grown up her voice and deepened just a touch. Which for her isn't a bad thing. She has so much more control of it as well. Does it help that's she's silly hot? Maybe:P All that aside she not just another pretty face. Listen to Speak to Me. It shows how much she grown. Just a wonderful tone to her voice now over all. Will be interesting to hear the new Evanescence stuff and hear that voice she has now singing it.

Agreed. The concert they put on KZfaq for posterity from the last tour was incredible! She's definitely the real deal. One thing I've noticed is that, no, she doesn't use autotune, but she has a habit of gliding into notes even when she's not in pitch to start. It works for her the way she does it. The amount of reverb (and sometimes delay) she has going helps on some songs as well, but she also does excellently on songs where she has a very minimal amount of reverb. She really is awesome, though...

A lot of these are not her best performances, but aside from that, I always love seeing her growth as an artist and in life. If you saw her perform now, you'd think she was always confident on stage, but that wasn't always so. She was extremely shy at first, but her voice always rang through. I'm so glad she's grown into the artist she wants to be and as someone who supports her, I'm looking forward to anything new Amy brings out.

I was at Las Vegas the first showing of Synthesis. I didn't think she could grow more as a beautiful singer. Live like that blew my mind. I'm grateful for amy and every person that's been apart of this band. So much appreciation.

Amy Lee, your voice inspires me to be better. Thank you for sharing it with us. You help me get by. 2x single dad, 2x tours Middle East, 2x current jobs to make ends meet, 4x children I raise with the same values as my own. Just trying to get by and ensure my kids do better than me. We all look for inspiration somewhere.

I live far away from western culture , but my whole life I have never heard any voice better than Amy's , She is outta this world , Her voice take me places , so touching , emotional, Strong at the same time , She switches Tones effortlessly , She is the Only Queen I know . Modern music misses somebody like Amy Lee .

True Music wrong (the pop punk part not the Evanescence part). Emo is its own genre. Avril Lavigne and Paramore ate “emo”. “Emo” music refers to music that everyone calls emo, but isn’t. Real emo is Hawthorne Heights, American Football, Rites Of Spring, The Het Up Kids (to name a few).
