MTV News sat down with Amy Winehouse in 2007, just months after her “Back to Black” album was released, for a chat about the inspiration behind her soon-to-be breakthrough hit “Rehab.” The late singer, who is the subject of the new biopic ‘Amy,’ also talked about why she loved being on stage, her deep connection with then little-known DJ/producer Mark Ronson and why her friends all called her “mum.”

@@SillyParasaurolophus her mother did think she had tourettes but Amy did not have tourettes. Her mother made her go to a psychiatrist, because she thought she had tourettes. Amy turned 18 shortly after her first appointment with the psychiatrist, so she never had to tell her mother what her diagnosis was, and never did. Amy let me read her psychiatric report, but only after I promised her I wouldn't tell anyone the details of her diagnosis. She sometimes told part of her diagnosis, but never all of it. She was definitely on drugs in this interview. She gasps for her breath, she's sweating, her eyes are red, and she is in a rush to speak. Definitely an upper like crack or meth.

She knew, she absolutely knew. It's like the same voice was in Janis Joplin, Karen carpenter. Some are just special and shine brief but bright but short!! Reincarnation kinda!

She looks very sad in this interview, her eyes looked kind of red and watery. Maybe she took something to try and cope with her pain at that time. It is very sad, cause She was sober for some time. Her performance in Rio in 2011, she looks healthier in it, more conscious and aware. Then, in this interview she's really hard on herself, keeps repeating that she was very stupid. Pretty sad.

And then you can see Dave Grohl in the background laughing as well which really bothered me considering the fact that he had a *very* good friend/former band mate, who struggled with heroin. As I watch this and searching for previous performances before she passed, I come to realize that I have tears falling down my face as I can't believe the talent we have lost. Her entire well being and soul belonged to music and I'm not even a fan of jazz, but her voice brought me to chills. She's clearly so broken in this interview and was on something as well, but through it all you can still see her true self. She always had a really unique personality, but really emotional at the same time. That was one of her best qualities. Even me just putting her in the past tense makes me so devastated to say that a legend that changed the music industry died from an alcohol addiction that she just couldn't quit. I watched the full documentary on her untold story and many times during the video I felt really dark and cold, as if I was in that dark place with her. She truly is missed by millions of fans that still show love, because she is true RARE talent that will never be forgotten.
