I told my daughter that biological parents, though we may never know their reasons why, look(ed) to give them the best chance at life via adoption. Thank you Alex for the delicate way you handle the interviews that reach the core of our emotions.

Thank you for sharing these beautiful stories. I was adopted from Moscow, Russia. My birth name was Артём. Unfortunately I had a closed adoption and I only know my birth Mom's name. On 23andMe my only relatives share less than one percent of my DNA. Sometimes it is sad to think about that. My adoptive mother told me I had two brothers... I wish I could find them one day, it would be so cool! While I am happy and grateful for the family I have now, I still wish I knew my birth family.

Thank you for sharing this with me! I know it’s hard when it comes to little information. Of course - I welcome you to visit our community and you can always reach out to me through my website if you need any advice too! Thank you Sean / Артём. Your birth name is also the same name as my half brother!

@@alexgilbertThat is amazing! I could technically figure out my birth father's name from my former middle name. My middle name was Александрович so his name was probably Александр. I know my birth Mom was an alcoholic so I fear if anything happened to her and I may never get to talk to her, even if it is online through VK, OK, or Facebook or something. I will reach out to you!

Talking about connection.I've emigrated to Canada in the year 1995 with my now exhusband and our 8y,o. daughter. My daughter never wanted to hear anything about Russian culture, heritage ,etc. She speaks very plain limited R. language. We love each other, but it is some cultural disconnect, unfortunately. So, what I try to deliver to you , adopted kids, is that like one wise Jewish woman told me '' saying'', when I was young ;POD KAZHDOI KRISHEI SVOI MISHI. Translates as : There are own mice under each roof. The meaning of the saying -- We all struggle our own ways. With love to you all -- Marina❤🌺

From many videos I see a common them of the reason people put their kids for adoption. Adoption is a beautiful thing; it gives couples to be parents and it does give a better chance at life for kids. The common theme is economical hardship. In no form I am judging the decision of birth parents. I am only pointing out what I noticed. My family has 9 kids, my grandparents from both sides had 7-10 kids. My grandparents had their kids before, during and after the ww2 period. It was one of the toughest economical and social time for Soviet Union. My paterna grandfather was placed in an orphanage when he was kid after his mom died and his dad remarried but put the kids in the orphanage. So my grandfather was an orphan himself since age of 8 he ran from the orphanage and build his own life living with horses and taking care of them as a means to earn food. That man had 10 kids and he worked hard and didn’t give up any of his kids for orphanage though the economical condition was very bad. What helped him is having trust in God that God will provide. Bible says children are blessing from God, and it also says that even if mother forgets her child, God never will. Also Bible says that He provides for all our needs. My grandfather relied on God to help him provide for his family. I grew up in a large family in former Soviet Union with 8 siblings in a very difficult economy, but God always sent us people who helped us. Thanks the 90s after Soviet Union collapse our clothes came from a Christian mission from the US who sent us used clothing and shoes, but for us it was most beautiful stuff we saw. My point is, when we trust God, he comes through for us, and meets our needs. He knows what we need. I know many people don’t know about this, and because of fear give kids for adoption. It’s not their fault they didn’t know this, and they made the best decision with what they knew.
