Nuclear weapons in space is an absolutely awful idea. Look up the Starfish Prime nuclear test of 1962. Electromagnetic pulse affected Honolulu, Hawaii even though they were 900 miles away. Satellites from several nations were affected. Effects lasted for a number of years. And that was a single weapon test. There were no space stations at the time, but I imagine that the ISS could be affected in some way. And then, of course, there is the whole idea of weapons circulating above the earth. And chunks from falling satellites and space stations can survive reentry (e.g. Skylab) and hit the ground.

I suspect that the ISS is a weapon. Laser or launcher.
