Its a great shot. The sea really makes it. Too many people think landscape photography is just a matter of see a nice view, plonk the tripod down and push the shutter. It more like dancing the time warp; Its just a jump to the left (too far) and then a step to the right (better), put your hands on your hips (thinking), bring your knees in tight (tripods low and you're on a slope) ..... I'll just gloss over the pelvic thrusts, but you get the idea ;-) Unfortunately, back to reality and another period of walking around locally with the camera sans tripod; I did catch the sunset over Loch Lomond this afternoon, which will just have to tide me over for a wee while.

Cheers Iain. Yes totally agree and that’s a very good way of putting it. I may have to steal that analogy at some point! 👍 positioning is everything, I can often spend half an hour or more agonizing over tiny micro movements to build a shot.

Hi James nice to see us landscapers out in the weather. I see you use a Shimoda, I have had one for a few months now and really like it, nothing is perfect in our game but this is up there IMO. Why don't you do a review, I would like to hear "your" pros and cons?

Thanks for watching. I don’t have a Rode wireless, still using my old trusty ride video micro shotgun mic on camera. I’ve changed some settings on my sound editing though so maybe that’s what you’re hearing 👍 appreciate your kind words

Good start to 2021, James! Composition thought process, especially lighting, a plus. Yes, noticed the different tripod; guess a few ounces make a difference. Footprint reminder also bonus - easy to miss when out and about. Do you carry spare batteries in your pocket on such cold days - per std adage? Thought I heard a dog when you were explaining tripod. New pet? Hope new lockdown measures won’t crimp your landscape shoots. Cheers!

Thanks Paul. I don’t tend to keep batteries in my pocket. They are usually just in my bag. The Nikon batteries are pretty robust and I’ve never really experienced the cold zapping them, certainly not here on the IOM. Not my dog I’m afraid, I’m a cat kind of guy 😂

Do i notice a change in Tripod head? What happened with the gear head? Another fantastic video dude. Just a quick question how long did it take to gain more views. I am struggling and only getting 20-30 views

I’m using a Benro G2 with Mefoto globetrotter in this video but I still have my usual tripod setup, I just use this lighter kit when walking in the hills. Well spotted 👍

KZfaq is still a mystery to me to be honest. I would recommend not worrying about views, subs and all that stuff. Just make videos you enjoy 👍
