I've made the best ship simulator game even better with add-on ships and scenery from SIM3D.
SIM3D ( ‪@sim3d204‬ ) were kind enough to provide me with some of their payware ship and scenery add-ons for Virtual Sailor NG. So, in this video, I'm trying them out and giving you my honest thoughts.

I sailed around SIM3D's Baltic Sea West scenery whilst trying out their S/S Bohuslän 1914 steamship, J.R. More classic tugboat, Pavo Cristatus cargo freighter, and Smyril roll on/roll off passenger ferry.
I was very pleased to discover that they do make what I consider to be the best ship simulator game for PC available, Virtual Sailor NG, even better and more fun.

Ship sims are so underrated if people will fly real time in Microsoft’s flight sim around the world I’m pretty sure people would deliver cargo around the world by sea

I agree. I'd like to think Microsoft could use the base of MSFS (scenery, weather etc.) to make a new ship sim if they wanted to. I don't believe MSFS should be made to work as a fully-fledged ship sim (too much code bloat for those who only want flight, and vice versa), but adding hydrodynamic simulation to the scenery and weather engine could spawn a great new ship sim.

Thanks for the mention! the bridge emitting texture was a phase a few years ago amongst us modders, its a simple fix and I wouldn`t mind sending it to you?

@axeonalias Would you be willing to release the fix publicly for the Pavo and your Navena trawler? I've recently bought both and have been enjoying using them, but the bright textures do make it a pain to use them at night.

Are there not any play thing added - meaning transporting passengers from A - B or something realistic to make a mission/game out of it? In that case I would quit surely buy it, it has a good finish etc.

No, there are no missions. It's really a sandbox where you decide for yourself what you're going to do. I accept that's not for everyone, and some people like more structure and direction in their games.

How is the scale of the world map? Lets say you'd be crazy enough to go from Rotterdam to New York, how long would it approximately take to complete a trip like that?

As far as I can ascertain, the world is as near to 1:1 scale as possible, and time is real time. There's no fast-travel or time compression as such, but you can teleport your vessel to any point in the world if, for example, you didn't want to do the mid-part of the Atlantic crossing.

Just so you are aware, there is a way to speed up and slow down time. It’s one of the function buttons.

Hello TransportDepot Awesome and fun video. Im just getting into Virtual Sailor NG and learning it. Is there a way I can start/spawn already docked as you did here? Messing around with this Maersk container ship and I can only get it placed close to the dock through trail and error when setting up a new situation.

No, you can't spawn already docked. The best you can really do is dock it manually and then save it as a new situation so that next time you can open that same situation with it already docked. Just be sure to "freeze motion" before saving though, otherwise, when you open the situation, you may find that it's jumped over the quay wall in some horrible way.

I'm using the Reshade profile from Rob's VSF Addons. That's giving it a more realistic colour, if that's what you're referring too. Everything else is just done in the VSNG settings.

F1 key is 1st person cam. F2 is 3rd person. Press Shift+V to bring up "Views" window and see preset 1st person views. Main keys 1-4 switch between the first 4 preset views, then use Shift+Tab to access any others that might be set. When you're in a particular 1st person view, use numpad keys to move around. 2,4,6,8 tilt the view. 0 & . for up and down. 1 & 3 for strafe left and right. 7 & 9 for back and forth. 5 resets view tilt back to central. Note that this is only a drone-style cam, so you will fly through structure and decks. You're not "walking" on a physical deck.

It's not suitable for real training to a professional level. That's where Nautis comes in. However, for somebody with limited experience of boat handling, radar operation, it's a simplified starting point.
