I like what Daniel did with the wild dogs he was dealing with. We had a pack that was chasing our calves. My Dad followed them and talked to their owners and let them know that they were running our calves and trying to take one down. He asked them to please keep them on their property. Well they chose to ignore my Dad’s request. 2 weeks later they got one of our calves and bit it a few times before I could run them off. The next day my brother and I got on the roof of our barn and we waited for them to show up. We had our bb guns and when they went after the calf again they sure didn’t appreciate the pain inflicted by the bbs. They yelped and ran away. They tried again and were greeted with the same welcome, to be sure they decided to go around our property. I’ve been hunting and seen wild dogs chasing deer. I reported it to the land owner who had cattle and his response was eliminate them on sight. I am a dog lover and I believe even in the country you are still responsible for your animals. It’s truly not fair to anyone to allow them to roam. My concern is that they could hurt a family member and that is totally unacceptable. Do what you have to to protect yourself and your family!

One evening while I was checking my cows a pack of dogs came up the river from the town and went to attack me, luckily for me I had a stick with me and was able to scare them off. When I was a kid, in Kentucky we had a large pack of wild dogs, in the area. And they were way more agresive, than any coyotes. And no fear of trying to attack a human!!

I would talk to the game commission and tell them your story. They will let you know what you are allowed to do about the dog problem.

Those are some pretty big dogs and, yes, pet dogs who join a pack can become feral and a real danger to your family/friends who are out there. I would call a local rescue and see if they can help you with some traps and suggestions on how to trap them. If you have a neighborhood/community online site, I would also put the photos out there to see if anyone knows the dogs. Good luck and stay safe.

A pet can run in a pack. At first they run off a few times, then the pet stays with the pack. It happened to my sisters dog years ago.

Yes, domesticated dogs can go feral. When I was a kid people used to bring their sick dogs "out in the country" in northern NJ where I grew up, and just dump them out. Some survived and when they ate up all the game in the hills north and west of us, they'd come down and attack our sheep. Yes, they can become feral and with no fear of humans.

Your coyote calls scares my cat so bad! He runs around looking out the windows. He's still puffed up and has settled on his corner of the desk. I'll have to remember to mute the calls. Sure hope you can be rid of the dogs and predators. I like to feel like I can walk safely outside at night. We live in the woods too.

When we lived in the mountains above Boulder, Colorado there were 7 of us in the area. We had big issues with pack dogs. It was open season on them. Domestic feral dogs are the most unpredictable. We always were armed. My husband dispatched 2 one afternoon. Our neighbor dispatched 3 within 2 weeks. People come up from Denver and dump their dogs. This was 40 years ago.

Them are some almost emaciated deer! Good thing you're feeding them!!

A thought I have is to have a nomad van dweller camp out at various locations with a camera and a 2 way radio to call in as soon as they see the dog/dogs then take some pop shots that deliberately miss shots just to scare the dogs away

I'm a professional dog trainer and I have always taken in problem dogs. One problem dog I took in was a Husky/Chow that liked to run away and he had a 30 mile run away radius, so even cutting that in half for a "not a sled dog" type dog thats still pretty far. 10 or 15 miles away sounds about right. You have a good since of humor and well females do love attention so its pretty adorable your daughter is prank'in you for attention it sounds like you have a real healthy relationship with your family. 😊

Hope has become a Daddy's girl. She is your Houston. Hope is your shadow. That may change ss she gets older, but for now, she seems to be attached at your hip. The memory's the two of you are forming, will last her lifetime it will make her a strong adult and able to sustain herself when she leaves home. The other two will learn how to take care of themselves also,but maybe more in the area of the home. You and your wife are raising three very strong young ladies. I grew up on a 200 acre dairy farm. I learned a lot just by watching the hired help do things like checking the oil on my car,changeing a tire, just some very basic maintenance on my car. I learned how to can and other food preservation that has come in handy over the years. I am now 73 years young. I even found the love of my life on that dairy farm. Keep up the good work and being a good steward of the land.

You already have the traps, don't hesitate to catch the stray dogs on your property . As long as you keep it humane trap and remove to an animal shelter, you are well within your rights. Call your local law enforcement and see what they tell you can do. Usually, it is up to the property owner to clean up this type of mess....

Many years ago my sister's family lived on a farm, and the farm next to theirs had dairy and beef cattle. Well, my sister's dogs decided it was fun to run his cows around in the field. The old farmer came down and politely but firmly told the family that the next time he saw the dogs on his property, he would shoot them dead. Needless to say, my sister kept her dogs very close to home after that.

Had a similar issue in the 90s. Caught one of them and kept her for about two days. The owner showed up looking for her. No more problems.

In many states it is legal to dispatch dogs that are chasing/harassing deer. A potential option, depending on distance that the dogs may be, would be to get a paintball gun and CS powder paint balls. Another option might be zerk (zirconium) loads that flash when they hit something - they are used in movies to simulate bullet strikes. For your blinds I'd suggest putting some camo netting over the windows, especially in the back, to prevent silhouetting yourself while in the blind.

Daniel had some dogs on his other property. He took pictures and found the owner and talked to her . Since then the dogs haven't been back and the deer are back . While the dogs were there he had no deer show up .

Growing up on a Kansas dairy farm we held young heifers in a pasture away from the farm. A neighbor owned a house next door but lived in town. He had five dogs at his country house which he fed once a week. the dogs began to prey on the heifers, pulling them down and taking an ear or ears off. Spoke with the neighbor but no result. Exterminated vicious pests found on our property after that.

Remember there was a BA lady who was walking on a rural road who was killed by a pack of dogs. Beware!

Yes, live trap and take them to the local shelters and rescues. They should be able to check them for microchips and, if any of them have one, get them back to their owners. Don't just shoot them, even if they act aggressively. They might be someone's pet & just be scared. As far as the dog you caught on camera by the buzzards, that looked like a beagle to me.

We had this problem on our farm. There was a pack of dogs running after our cattle, and we had to get rid of them.

I'd want to find out if they are wild or friendly. I don't think I could dispatch them even if they were wild but that's me.

Where I use to live I had peoples pets pack up during the day while their owners were at work & kids at school - attack my livestock. They were circling and nipping at their heels. So I SSS two of them. This was a pasture with woven cattle wire & a strand of hot water on top. You do what you have to - to keep your family safe.

On your deer blind consider after the spray foam to paint all of the interior surfaces with a FLAT black or dark color green or gray to help hide the movement inside the blind.

As you're driving and working on the property consider the "Blackpoint Outback" holster.

Get you a cabinet door handle and mount on the inside of your door for the hunting blind. Then get you some of the hook latches to keep it close.

Paint part of the inside black to break up your outline.

Make sure you have no hunting and no trespassing signs up. And do whatever you must. The black and spotted dogs look like hunting dogs to me. Good luck. Keep the videos coming 😂 !

Take the pic to your neighbors and see if you can find the owners first and then do what you have to and y'all stay safe. You can also pepper the dogs with bird shot that helps sometimes

A pet dog that runs off or is abandoned could become a semi-feral. They start to act like a feral, but have had exposure to humans in their past.

Dutch I live in south Texas with a high fence ranch and we often have stray dogs that arrive. I love dogs. But I spend thousands for my deer. They’re an absolute terror to the deer. Unfortunately they do have to be dispatched bc of the aggression they show. It’s a terrible feeling but it’s the quickest way to do it. My neighbor puts snare traps which I’m fully against due to the suffering the experience. But safety comes first. Budgeting comes second. They are never good news. Hopefully they move on before it comes to this point. But when the first weekend of season comes and they’re still there. You have to do what you have to do.
