Dear Graham and Hazel you are not alone you have over 15000 friends. Feel the love and support. Model Railways saved my life when my wife and twin boys died. It was hard but I managed to pull through with Mental health team and tablets lifting my spirits. Don't let the B's get you down. Your layout and car is Fantastic. A lot of people are jealous. You Your Lady and Family are the most important and precious people in the world Graham. I send my best wishes and love. Take care Richard Canterbury

You Sir are a brave man. For anyone to bare their soul as you have done is incredible. Everyone has a breaking point, everyone, the key to surviving it is how you look at yourself, how you treat yourself. Your a strong man Graham, a skilled man, anyone can see that, I personally can only aspire to the layout you have created, but I will, because you did. Have some time away, right away from social media, lets face it, there's nothing social about it. Kind regards to you and your lovely wife, I hope you can find a way back. Thank you.

Graham, we are with you. For the record, modellers everywhere have been very grateful for you time, effort and skills. This is a hobby that grows through sharing of our individual journeys. How anyone could be anything but grateful for another's contribution to that pool of knowledge just amazes me. The fact that you have gone on sharing your wisdom through times of personal difficulty is awe inspiring. Thank you again for what I have learned from watching you and I wish you and your wife absolutely the best for the future. Bye for now, John

Seven years ago my lovely wife was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour, she died after an 18 month battle and at that point two lives ended, that was five years ago. When she was ill I stumbled across your channel I had no knowledge of model railways or any interest in them however because of that your channel has been a complete escape from reality and has been extremely beneficial to me at those times when there is only darkness at the end of the tunnel. Thank you.

My good advice to you , is to try to take no notice of these people . These peole are looking depress you and bring you down . I would love to see these people try to even attempt to make this intrecate layout as you have done . It is truly amazing , and the manhole is so so good , wanderful thinking . It all adds to the authenticity of this amazing layout . My housband is so bowled over with your layout , he cant stop watching your videos . A very emotional and heartfelt video Graham and one that brought back memories of my own moment…. Now thankfully quite some years ago. I like no doubt a number of your other subscribers don’t have a model railway and whilst into modelling both look forward to and in wonderment at the world you and other You Tubers have created and continue to develop. Your imagination and the modelling skills that you so freely share give so much inspiration to many. I do obviously watch a number of your colleagues and their layouts and it seems that as an outsider looking in they to seem to have been plagued by both ‘the gatekeeper’s’ the obsessive rivet counters and the inept. We all know that many of these individuals seem to fit a certain profile and whilst in better times their statements are treated with the contempt they deserve, when we’re either in or slipping into a dark place the comments can have a disproportionate impact…..they do say that a negative is stronger than a positive. For what it’s worth you have a great channel great skills and a lovely way of putting it across…..15,000+ subscribers kinda says it for me. Your subscribers will be here for you when, and only when you feel up to returning…….your personal health and that of your good lady is the most important. Graham, keep safe and enjoy the step back. Kindest Regards Gary

Your channel has always been an inspiration to me and has played a great part in getting me into the hobby and building my own model railroad. You once told me that you didn’t know how you would have coped if it hadn’t been for Lakeside. Graham - my heart really goes out to you. You have always said it's my railway and it's not prototypical. There are a lots of people out there that take great pride in critizing other folks efforts when they have never attempted to build a layout on the scale you have achieved. To argue about a manhole cover is absolutely rediculous - after all if it pleases you that's what matters and it is your layout and ideas after all. Maybe they are not to scale - who cares - you are providing inspiration to countless genuine modellors out there and giving them ideas for their their own layouts. The varied aspects of Lakeside I am sure are an inspiration to other modellors - it really is a pick and mix of ideas from the the canal scenes to the castle then to the village to the High Street with moving vehicles and onto the vintage yard and steamers. Take care of yourself and seek advice wherever appropriate and just remember that most of your subscribers love and value your contributions to the modelling world - my layout/my way. After alll - who paid for it - who built it - who enjoyed it - YOU - and that's what really matters. Eric from West Wales.

Now I can’t get distracted watching your own magnificent layout hopefully I’ll use the time to get stuck into mine which has been in limbo for far too long! I recently had two heart attacks in the space of 6 weeks and now I struggle to get to my layout . I don’t do videos because of the reasons you talk about . The people who are knocking your manhole cover have no imagination and are probably of the rivet counters in this hobby .I know it’s hard but try and let it not bother you , it is as you say futile . Don’t let other people ruin what you love. It’s a manhole cover for you- it was a teaspoon for me. Keep that manhole cover on and don’t compromise with idiots! Hi Graham. I know from personal experience that sometimes you have to ask for help. I lost my dad and sister during lockdown within 7 months of each other. This sent me into a spiral of depression and eventually led to me seeking professional help for depression. It takes a real man to admit he needs help. Depression cannot be dealt with alone. And yes, it is a chemical imbalance in the brain that causes it. I wish you all the best, sir.

Hi Graham. I feel badly that you’re having difficulties. There is no way to explain to people who haven’t been where you are, just how you feel. I know all too well. As a registered nurse, I would get so depressed over the situations I’d be put into. Please do get some help. Generally, to address your concerns, the only way that you would be hospitalized is if you are a threat to yourself or others. You do seem like you were in a bit of an overwhelming situation, and recovering from that takes time. I sincerely hope that you find your way, either with another’s help or through your own means. Take good care. Brooklyn

Hope you feel better soon, don't let the key board warriers win. I have only recently come to this hobby and will always be thankful to you for the Platform build as this is how I have done mine and very smart they are too. Go and talk to a professional and if you need medication short term so be it - it will help you. Thoughts and prayers with you.

Hi Graham I just want to send you good wishes and to let you know that I suffer from depression it has become so debilitating for me that I had to give up work. Anyhow I'd like to say when I get like this I take myself off in my campervan with my dog. My friend I would personally seek professional help I have been ill for 10 years and never been in hospital firstly go and see your Gp tell him /her how your feeling, worries and your wishes. Ilove you channel and think your layout is fantastic watching your videos really inspires me to get on with my own layout as and when money allows. My friend you don't have to reply to me I just want you to know that I understand and appreciate how you are feeling right now. My parting advice is take a holiday with Hazel forget KZfaq have a lovely time we will still be here us die hard subscribers. Best wishes my friend Ian

Hi Graham, I’m sorry to hear of your situation regarding close family and friends who have passed, please stay strong mate, your videos are great and inspirational to many modellers who love the hobby, those who mock have nothing better to do and are more than likely jealous nobodies with very little intelligence, let’s hope they get the Karma they deserve however it’s served, if you decide to post short videos you can turn off the comments, thinking of you and the family mate, many thanks for sharing with us and take care. ☯💯⭐

You say KZfaq doesn’t help … however, here you are pouring your heart out … which is cathartic … … on top of this you describe why you’re so low … your spouse and your close friends and family … … You give us joy and a break from OUR LIVES when we watch your videos … this means YOU ARE HELPING ALL OF US TO GET THROUGH OUR LIVES … we are ALL living through life day to day and trying our best … people such as yourself are living beyond that because you share your wonderful ideas … … finally, when we are low we ALL GET MORE TOUCHY AND SENSITIVE … because, all of a sudden, you’re more open to the world … and that can take time to adjust to, especially when we begin to reassess our mortality … it’s UNDERSTANDABLE … plus … the world is making us all miserable … I’m really, really hoping this poxy manhole cover isn’t the end of you … … think about what I just said … a manhole cover leads to the end of a man’s life … or rather a throw away comment about biscuits and fruit pastilles etc … ITS NOT THE MANHOLE COVER … Graham, it’s other things that are clearly on your mind … take a break or keep working selflessly or … getting closer to the rest of your family and friends … or take the dog out for more walks … ANYTHING … whatever you decide WE ARE BEHIND YOU ALL THE WAY

Hi Graham, I've been watching your videos for several years and after seeing this one felt I had to login and comment. I enjoy seeing your layout and your down-to-earth approach is refreshing (I don't get much time on my own layout, but I run whatever trains I like... hobbies are meant to be fun)! Speaking up on what you've been going through takes great courage - just a thought, but perhaps see if there's a "Men's shed" or something similar near you? Sending you very best wishes, Rob

Graham your a wonderful person.. I completely understand I lost 2 very close family members within a year 1 was my father and its still an every day battle at times I feel like I've lost so much but I keep trying to live on (this to shall pass)but it is very hard... I know I will miss not only your model building skills but the stories to go with your layout... keep your head up and try to keep traveling down the higher paths in life though it is very hard at times ...I do believe some people are just jealous or can't help but hate others on social media

Hi Graham, thanks for your courage in sharing. I'm so sad. Your channel, like many in the hobby becomes a community, where we feel safe to enjoy the love of trains at our level whatever that may be. Your skill has given so many of us encouragement and much enjoyment. I've not been following your channel long (joined when the lock was going in), but you've inspired and entertained me. Sod the rivet counters, your layout is amazing. It's time to look after yourself, your lady, and enjoy your layout your way. I'm more than happy to talk off the channel. Try to keep your chin up. Your friend and admirer, David 🙏

You are a great narrator and model layoutbuilder, true to life explanations of reasons for any particular scene on your layout ..Brilliant! Just think you need a long break from modelling and you tube. It is normal to be afraid but talking to a professional will help you AND the last place they want to send anyone is to mental institution because that means they cannot help you. Good luck and when you are out of this you will be 100% stronger

Graham, I too am 75 years old and recently lost my younger brother and two other family members. My wife too had a long heath problem (she is very much improved now). And yes, I too have had to think about my mortality, and how I look forward to seeing my grandkids grow up. So I've got an idea of where you are coming from. My best wishes to you and Hazel. I would think that as a 1st step would be a long chat with your GP to try to find a road to overcome this temporary issue. That said, Lakeside is truely a superb .layout and is an inspiration. Your Mastr Modeller award was not given for no reason. You do need to step back and look to your own well being. The layout videos can wait and your followers will understand and wait in support. Again best wishes for you anf Hazel. Arthur

Hi Graham, don't give up on the modelling - it clearly gives you purpose. Just let the videos go for now. I have been through something similar with losing close relatives - it's stressful. Have you taken time to grieve? Take time out for yourself and Hazel and enjoy the nicer weather that is on the way. You are a smashing bloke with incredible modelling skills. Look forward to being in touch when you have dealt with the gremlins. We are all pulling with you. Take care both. Ta ta for now.

Graham, you always talk from the heart, that’s not being a miserable g*t! The first step to getting better is recognising you have a problem. I’ve learnt a lot and been inspired by what you share with us on a regular basis, free of charge! I hope you can access some support and get better soon, I look forward to seeing those bikes flashing round the village again soon (which is the single most whimsical thing I’ve ever seen and probably will on a layout). Take care pal!
