100% agree with you. People keep using the title "Overwatch killer" because it gets more views but in reality they're very different. The only similarities are the copied abilities and map game modes. It's more of an amplified Paladins with Marvel esthetic.

I think that a lot of these problems stem from the game being new and in alpha. Over time, i’m sure it’ll clear up. Overwatch was chaotic too when it first launched until it eventually became…whatever it is now. Personally, I hope Marvel Rivals does well because I’m so tired of Overwatch. I’m tired of its balance problems and how it seems to be turning its back on its casual playerbase. Overwatch was 6v6 for years and was fine. I personally never had an issue with “visual clutter” so the chaos of MR doesn’t really bother me. I played OW so long because it was the only high quality game in the hero shooter genre, so it was the only one that my friends were willing to play. But because the characters are Marvel in this game, there are more people who will actually be willing to play the game with me. 😅

The way it reminds me more of a paladins 2 … but imagine if marvel rivals did a PVE mode 😗

It probably isn’t, but I haven’t played Overwatch in over a year and I probably never will again. I will be playing Marvel Rivals and I suspect a lot of other people are in the same boat as me.

As soon as I heard Netease I got war flashbacks….. I now see why the style is so mobile game-esque, as Netease is pretty big when it comes to mobile games. But also knowing Netease, I am very scared for how monetization is going to look like in the future, I’m praying they don’t add any sorta gacha mechanic.

From what I remember, paladins doesn't have role q and has champ select instead, Tf2 also doesn't have role q. Hero Shooters doesn't have to have the same format as OW. I don't think it needs role q considering that the game has team up abilities and plays more like a MOBA than a shooter

Yall dont understand the gaming market and it's scary these devs dont seem to either. We have 3 povs, birds eye, 3rd person and 1st person. These povs all appeal to different gamers, you have birds eye appealing to more strategy based gamers, like dota and league. You have 1st person that appeals much more to the mechanical sweaty try hards like overwatch and every fps out there. And than you have 3rd person, the pov dedicated to single player games because its the best for casuals. The issue here is you cannot run a game purely off casuals unless its single player, even fortnite only managed to attract so many without ruining their game because the battle royal formula is magical, it allows for a casual player to not get flamed inna competitive environment, while letting the super try hards still be able to dominate a lobby without the casuals simply just existing, ruining it like what happens with too many games overwatch included, as appealing to casuals in overwatch actually detracts from the true gamers in the fanbase and has been a massive point of tension since the launch when the devs said they wanna make a complex game and make it easier over time cause they developed some illness that made them stop thinking I guess? 😂 And we see this all the time, how many overwatch like games have come out in 3rd person over the years and just absolutely flopped? Honestly to many to name, but do a Google search if you wanna see. So I dont see how the fps sweaty try hards are all gonna want to flock to this game or the sweaty big brain strategy masters of dota and league, so it's most likely gonna primarily appeal to the casuals like all these games with a small super dedicated playerbase of try hards that like with striker storm immediately make the game unappealing to the casuals, and theyll all run off to their single player games or fortnite again. If you genuinely wanna appeal to the sweaty try hards of overwatch, you absolutely need the pov that enables that, otherwise they wont feel as fulfilled as they do in overwatch and I wouldnt recommend ever trying to compete with dota or league, those games are monsters and will devour anyone who steps foot towards them at this point 😂 We also have side scroller but that isnt relevant here, but who knows maybe I'm wrong and marvel rivals with be so amazing that it breaks this pattern, just I cant think of a single 3rd person game besides pubg and fortnite that's lasted the test of time as a 3rd person comp game, you need some way to bridge those casuals to the people who trully wanna invest in your game without destroying either but when your game inherently appeals to the casuals who will be hopping on and off for other games, you'll be fighting one hell of an uphill battle

The callout comment is so real. Honestly, its way easier to make callouts in this game and it feels more impactful as you can punish people a lot easier and having a second tank makes getting assistance more likely. Lastly, I just haven't run into much homophobia yet LOL

great video I dont really agree with not much counter play on ultimates been playing in diamond and higher and people be counter ults with skill and other ult. example when punisher ult people been using magneto ult to eat it up and one shot him or when strange will try to ult they will sleep him with mantis or freeze him with luna. feels like that more of a game sense type of thing when you start to get the game tho

I honestly believe that this game could also be a good thing for blizzard. Now that this game is widely talked about and is constantly compared overwatch, it would give them a potential note worthy competitor and an opportunity for them to make meaningful changes and yknow...actually manage their game properly. The game kinda reminds me of Smite with the whole 3d point of view. The game looks fun, but from your gameplay, it does look very chaotic. I’m super curious to see how it’ll play on console.. and if it even makes it to there lol. I’ll be more excited when they add more characters like Jean Grey, Emma Frost, and Rogue 😅

Imo no game is another game “killer”. OW was my first FPS game that I have ever played. yes blizzard made stupid/bad choices during the development and throughout the years but they also brought out new heros, maps and trying to work towards a better game. Ow relaly has clean degisn and the characters are well done. i like the feeling of 1st person instead of 3rd person what marvel rivals has. Yes OW may not have the hype like they used to back in the day but still there are people who plays it daily and there is still an active community. Now for Marvel Rivals. This game is still not finished so it makes sense why the game does not feel polished. But i think it has also to do with the fact that they they to bring the comic style in the game? Which may cause this feeling. Imo I am not a huge fan of 3rd person. I feel like the characters would be better if they are first person likenin OW. It is cool to see how your characters move but I think with so much going on that 1st person is a better option imo. I think that comparing games and continue to say “game X will kill game Y” which is not true. Yes the playerbase may decrease but it doesnt kill the game. Like the early stages of overwatch was compared to league of legends? Then to paladins, then to TF2. Or when fortnite came out and apex legends because majority of people thought that yes its a battle royal game mode which i can “carry myself” instead of team combo.

Role Queue in overwatch was the result of an incapable balance team. The reality is that role lock just limits everyones potential and doesn't actually give any benefit. It just makes you feel good to see a 2-2-2 comp. People are good at heroes, not roles, and any overwatch pro pre role lock would tell you (there's videos of it) to stop worrying about team comp, it's far more important that your team mates are good at the heroes they're playing. Once I changed my attitude on high dps comps, I started going lucio and shotcalling and winning most high dps games. It's was never a throw comp, just a glass cannon that can actually spawn trap a team when played well. If the team has a talented balance team, they can keep open queue and balance the game so goats is never viable. My suggestion would be to nerf healing globally when more than 2 supports are picked. So you can have the abilities of 3 supports if you want, but your healing will be nerfed to the numbers equal to having 2 supports. Another option would be a dps hero that chains lightning or something that does higher damage the more player it hits so when people are in death ball formation you can do a ton of damage to them. Another option is displacement heroes. In fact towards the end of goats in overwatch, ball almost destroyed the comp single handedly. Goats definitely got weaker after ball was introduced. These are just a few suggestions but I'm sure there's plenty of other ways than role lock. I hope the game doesn't follow the same mistakes overwatch did. What's so appealing about marvel rivals is it seems like overwatch before any mistakes were made. Role lock creates more unwinnable games, ex: one role sucks and nobody can do anything about it, gg go next. In open queue you can always cover weak points.

Marvel Rival doesn't look overwatch but more like Paladins. The game has potentials but it can't never replace overwatch nor kills it. Overwatch kills overwatch (as much as i love the game wholeheartedly) I'd like to see more Hoshi's content to marvel rivals ❤

i hope it stays like it balance wise im tired of every game trying to be the next e spot title or trying to balance the game to perfection games are more fun without these things overwatch was so fun in the beginning because of the lack of balance, the heros all felt powerful and unique taking away abilities to add new heros to stretch old idea killed heros like torb whos ult was taken for no other reason then so ash could have bob as an ult i hope marvel rivals just makes a fun game and lets the highest level of player adapt to the game rather then complain about balance and have content creators hound their masses to have the same opinion to influence change

first of all Marvel blows anyway. second of all why would they make it a TPS thats the dumbest decision ever. i looked it up and the makers say so you can look at the character you play. thats the dumbest reason ever. TPS suck it fills up your whole screen so you have no clue whats going on. your vision is blinded by the character. and the gameplay in general is just bad. FPS would have been the better way to go.

This game looks like a lot fun but it definitely doesn't seem like it's gonna be the overwatch killer people are making it out to be. Plenty of reason to be skeptical as well given NetEase's history of abandoning their games.

Idk. All I know is Overwatch 2 sucks and the weak heroes haven’t been buffed in mid season, while already strong heroes got buffed so…

Team up abilities have to go. It's gonna be a complete balance nightmare later on with some of the combinations just being broken af (like Hela and Loki, basically Hela can ressurect a friendly Loki every time she scores a kill). It is very interesting and unique, but not really good for the game IMO.

If they go all out and make it un-woke and with high quality - THEN IT GONNA KILL OVERWATCH, all time support+updates+sexy skins without ESG+DEI and it gonna do perfect job with 6v6 without rolelock. Only characters that have not perfect designs: 1. Namor should be melee Asian-Elf - - - Not Mexican Aquaman. 2. Magneto looks too old, not red, and needs his magnetic sword be baseline ability. 3. Storm - clearly has cloak that been designed to cover her assets, while in classic her wrist-wings split in two as silk. 4. Wanda - looks too much like ninja, too rough, needs more feminine and appealing dress.
