Love mine. I upgraded from the Genmitsu 3018. Put on the makita router and made a T-track spoil board. I don't use the software supplied by Sainsmart. I use Fusion, Easel, Lightburn. You do have to use a computer to operate, but they will be coming out with an offline controller.

If you’re looking for a good starter CNC, or something good for engraving and small projects, it gets my thumbs up. Of course, it’s not gonna be useful for large build or projects.

I started my CNC journey on their 3018-Prover model. I then upgraded the size to a 3030 and bought the laser attachment. Their customer service is great and might take a few days to get back but had no problems replacing parts if there was an issue for free. Overall, I still use it for small laser needs as I have upgraded to a Stepcraft M1000 with an Automatic Tool Changer with vacuum table. Anyways, great channel I also learned from your clock video.

Hi Jim ! I’m looking for a spindle upgrade. according to your experience, would you go for a 1,5 kW spindle or 0,8 kW are more than enough for wood and occasionally aluminum? Thx
@jimbembinster
@jimbembinster 8 ай бұрын
@@massimilianocomi5574 A lot depends on the strength of your machine. For example my x axis is not strong enough to use 1/4 " tools. I get a lot of chatter when a 1/4" bit gets into the corners and it ruins the piece. My 800kw spindle weighs about 7 lbs. and that a lit of extra weight for the x axis to support, the 1.5kw may be heavier. The 800kw spindle has more power that I can use, given the weakness of a small cnc machine. The 800kw is just over 1 hp and that's a lot of power for a small machine. I hope this helps and good luck. Let me know what you decide and how it works out.

They say on it's specs it's still based on grbl so it should work on any software (eg Candle) that supports grbl. That would be just a matter of adding BT module on TX/RX pins on main board to remove wires and drive it from phone / tablet / PC with BT support (there are many grbl / gcode senders on android that support HC05/HC06 modules). I've done that for my laser and custom built cnc, now I need only power supply and tablet in around ~5m from hardware devices. For 4040 from review, I'd say that 775 spindle is not best, it has 5mm shaft which is not really sturdy as it should be for cnc, other than that is look promising for really good entry level cnc.

@SothpawDesigns
@SothpawDesigns 9 ай бұрын
This CNC retails for around $650 (haven't checked costs lately). Once you buy a few different bits, downcut, vbits, etc, you could be in the $700-750 range. Then you have to consider design software. I use VCarve Pro, but it's not cheap. I'd recommend starting with Easel and seeing if that meets your needs. It's a reasonable monthly subscription. That should keep you under $1500 easily, then you can grow as you start making money to reinvest.

I have this CNC and a couple of observations that are not covered anywhere need to be mentioned. First those small metal plate clamp down items, like them or not, are included but the instructions don’t tell you how to use them. Like this review demonstrates without prior experience many people will assemble the hold downs in correctly. All the pieces are included but the threaded post with wing nut, and washer go through the slot of the plate into the spoil board threaded inserts. A flat head bolt threads into the threaded hole and acts as a Jack against the table to control the angle of the plate. The 2nd thing to mention is the off line controller for this machine is more than a simple cheap off line control, like 3018 CNC’s come with. The connection has 12 pins not 8 like cheaper CNC machines use. Many additional features, well worth having.

Hi 👋, I am sort of new to your work shop, I have been looking 👀 at other 3D and CNC territorials, I think about buying a CNC / 3D laser carving machine, is it best to have 2 separate machines, or is there any one that makes a all in one, just changing the head , or do they need to be separates , Great Territorial I look forward to your next project, play safe, PHIL FROM THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOULIN FRANCE.
@SothpawDesigns
@SothpawDesigns Жыл бұрын
That's a good question. Now that I have the Genmitsu, I will probably use it for smaller projects and engraving, then use my larger CNC for cutting out larger items and batching multiple projects. But in my opinion, if you have a larger CNC, like the Onefinity, you can also do small projects on it. Now that I also have a laser engraver, I prefer to have a separate laser and CNC, because I can cut on my CNC at the same time that I'm engraving on my laser.

Im interested in starting up with cnc and so far my biggest concern would be using it with a Mac, I have been an Apple user since 1980 and have used PCs at work but will never own one myself, is there any chance this works with the Mac?
@SothpawDesigns
@SothpawDesigns 14 күн бұрын
I don't have either of my CNCs connected directly to my computer. I simply design my projects with my computer, then download the G code to a jump drive and plug into my CNCs. So you can design using a Mac, assuming that the cnc software you're using is compatible with a Mac. There are some that are, some that aren't .
